Chapter 186: Second Murder - Part 3

The Bunny Lady—a femme fatale, a mysterious and dangerous woman, a phantom criminal, or more precisely, a killer.

Although she was referred to as a phantom, her identity hidden behind a mask, her crimes were never out of the spotlight.

She livestreamed her crimes exclusively to her loyal subscribers, pleasuring her victims one step closer to heaven—only to drag them into hell.

And when her victims survived the fall, she would simply release them.

When they didn’t, she would boldly expose their corpses and crimes to the public without fear of taking credit for their deaths.

After all, the authorities hadn’t caught her since her first crime half a decade ago.

Her victims were all said to be men who had abused, assaulted, or shamed women—bastards who didn’t deserve to be called men.

That was why Jeff sent the list of FGH members to her, knowing who she truly was through his knowledge from 12 years in the future—when the Bunny Lady finally retired and revealed her true identity after failing to find a successor.

But even after exposing herself to the public along with all her crimes, the authorities didn’t dare arrest her, simply because she had the support of her loyal subscribers—women who were among the most influential in the world.

Setting aside his recollections about the Bunny Lady, Jeff hadn’t even considered the possibility that she would be able to find him.

"Would you have preferred if I met you wearing a bunny outfit instead, Mr. Anonymous?"

The Bunny Lady smiled cheerfully as she sat across from Jeff, her elbows resting on the table, her chin propped on both hands.

Jeff, on the other hand, could only smile awkwardly, trying to think of a way to handle the situation.

"And why would you be wearing a bunny outfit, Ms. Officer?" Jeff replied, starting with a lie—that he didn’t even know who the Bunny Lady was.

"You’re hurting my feelings and pride, you know," she replied, her childish pout somehow more unsettling than comforting. 𝕗𝚛𝚎𝚎𝐰𝗲𝗯𝗻𝚘𝚟𝚎𝗹.𝕔𝐨𝕞

"I know that only my loyal subscribers can watch my livestreams, but I leak enough short clips online to create my image as if I were an urban legend."

So she was deliberately creating rumors about herself, Jeff thought, maintaining his confused, almost idiotic poker face.

"So how did you find me?"

Their confrontation continued, and Jeff simply played the innocent.

"I don’t even know who you are, Ms. Officer."

After all, he didn’t need to say—or admit—anything.

"You still won’t confess, and I don’t even have any actual evidence that it was you who sent me the FGH members list."

Seeing Jeff refuse to talk, the Bunny Lady casually monologued, leaning back comfortably in her seat.

"And even if I somehow prove the list came from you, saying you randomly sent it to anyone would be enough to dodge me again."

If it’s the list of their college organization, then wouldn’t a member most likely be the person you’re looking for? Jeff thought—something the Bunny Lady easily picked up on.

"Of course, I asked the FGH members about the list. But to my surprise, the guy who seemed ready to confess what he knew died in his seat."

Serve them right, Jeff thought, cursing the FGH members who died for breaking their promise—thanks to the Liar’s Punishment feature of the Returner Fantasy System.

"Then another died when I asked about his busted ear. Another when I told him he might be next after Dexter’s death. It was as if there’s some kind of mysterious curse killing them whenever they try to break their silence... right, Jeff?"

The Bunny Lady smiled again, but this time, she looked at him as if she could see through everything.

It sent chills down Jeff’s spine—enough to make him wonder if she somehow knew about the Returner Fantasy System.

But before he could dwell on it—Ding~!

A notification sound came from the Bunny Lady’s smartphone.

As she silently scrolled, reading whatever was on the screen, a wide grin spread across her lips, excitement gleaming in her eyes.

Jeff felt his anxiety rise.

"You’re more interesting than I thought you would be, Jeff!" the Bunny Lady exclaimed in delight.

Her excited eyes and sadistic smile—like she had found her next victim—should have been enough to make Jeff glare daggers at her. But instead, what caught his attention was the image on her phone: Jess, on the cover of her debut modeling magazine.

"So that’s the face you make when you’re threatened."

It should have been clear to Jeff the moment the Returner Fantasy System gave him a quest involving the Bunny Lady—her appearance alone was a threat to the people he cared about.

Pretending to be a high-ranking police officer was something the Bunny Lady could easily pull off with her connections. It wouldn’t be surprising if she had already gathered enough information to uncover his relationship with Jess—and possibly Nubia and Veena as well.

"You probably realize what I’m capable of now, Jeff."

If the Bunny Lady wanted, she had the wealth and connections to ruin Jess’s career and Nubia’s family’s company—and Jeff would be powerless to do anything but watch the people he loved fall apart.

Still, the fact that the Returner Fantasy System had given him a quest meant he wasn’t completely hopeless.

"Sheesh, don’t give me that murderous look. It’s not like I’m planning to ruin your life. After all, you’re a very interesting person."

Whether she was easing the tension, asserting dominance, or simply threatening him further, the Bunny Lady continued listing what she already knew.

Jeff’s involvement with the Iron Rod Legion brotherhood, his relationship with Nubia—whom the Bunny Lady had once invited to become one of her subscribers—the recent incident where Jess was the main suspect in Cindy’s murder, and even what happened to Veena’s stepfather and brothers.

And most importantly, the list of FGH members Jeff had sent her—giving her more "worthy" targets to punish.

"It would be against my vow to punish someone innocent like you. Still, I can’t simply let you go. After all, you somehow managed to figure out my true identity."

"Then tell me exactly what you want, Ms. Faye," Jeff finally said after a long silence. He even mentioned her real name to show he was ready to face her challenge—only to be caught off guard by her reply.

"For starters, how about you take off your shirt?"

"Eh..."

"You mean right here?"

"Mhm!"

From the objective of Quest 32 alone, Jeff had expected that Faye’s challenge would involve intimacy somewhere more private—not right inside a police station interrogation room.

"If you’re worried about being watched," Faye said, effortlessly reading his thoughts from his shocked expression, "the camera footage has already been turned off."

Whether Jeff believed her or not wasn’t his immediate concern.

What caught his attention was the smartphone Faye was setting up on the table—as if she intended to record everything.

"Not record—livestream," Faye corrected.

She pulled a black masquerade mask from her pocket before stepping closer. Leaning in, her lips nearly brushing his, she placed the mask on him and whispered:

"From this moment on, you’re not allowed to speak, Mr. Anonymous."

Being called by that nickname made Jeff realize he wasn’t just forbidden to speak—he couldn’t call Faye by her name in front of the camera either.

As Faye set up the livestream, Jeff moved to the spot she had indicated.

"Remember, Mr. Anonymous—how I treat you and your girlfriends will depend on your performance."

At her remark, Quest 32 finally began.
