Chapter 133: Ghost’s Testimony

To show his evidence, the legendary lawyer requested a video player and a projector, so that everyone watching live could also witness the exposé of Neil’s lies.

For that, there was a ten-minute break to let the equipment be set up in the courtroom.

During this brief period, discussions about the revelations already buzzed across the internet.

[I knew it! This Amelia is a shameless, cheating bitch. Last week, she was acting so innocent and loyal, hmph! What a bitch!]

[Who would’ve thought she was cheating her husband for 22 years? Poor CEO didn’t even realize that the child he was raising wasn’t even his own.]

[This is why I don’t want to marry. Can’t trust women nowadays.]

[Well, I think this case is obvious. Every fact points towards the murder. I could sense that Juan Moss was lying. And now that Amelia and Neil Valcourt’s affair is exposed, anyone will believe Nathan’s words.]

[What evidence is the lawyer hiding? If he had it, then why not show it on the first day and be done with it? Why wait until now?]

And soon, the ten minutes passed, and the live stream resumed with everything in place.

Neil, his lawyer, Amelia, and everyone on his side were looking at the projector screen, tensed.

Then, the legendary lawyer played it — the evidence video.

The screen revealed the back side of a car seat.

And then some movement.

The camera rotated to the right, displaying the car door, which was opened by a manly hand covered by the sleeve of a striped dark suit.

Then the camera revealed the outside of the car as it soon entered a mansion.

It was clear this was a footage of someone walking while wearing a spy camera on their body.

The man walked with hurried footsteps while no one stopped him and even gave way to him.

Soon, he reached a wooden door with intricate designs, which he didn’t even knock on, and instead, barged inside.

Before him appeared Neil, sitting behind a long, heavy worktable, flipping through some papers with leisure.

However, just as the man entered, Neil’s gaze was attracted to him thanks to the loud noise of the door.

Looking at the man, a smile spread across his face as he asked, "Aren. What brings you here in such a hurry? You could have just called—"

"Shut up, you filth!" Aren roared, cutting his act short. "Have you got no shame? Do you have no conscience? How can you do something like this?"

A frown appeared on Neil’s previously smiling face.

"What are you talking about?" he asked. "What have I done to make you so angry?"

"You still have the nerve to ask me that?"

Aren asked incredulously, unable to believe the shamelessness of this man.

He then revealed.

"Didn’t you get your secretary pregnant? Not only that, you even got her killed. Are you even human? How can you kill someone carrying your child? I knew that you looked down on poor, common people, but at least show some love for your unborn child."

To all that, Neil only had a single question to ask.

"H-How did you find out?"

Neil’s eyes were wide open, unable to believe Aren had found out about this matter.

But how?

He was careful to not let anyone find out about his secretary’s pregnancy or their affair, so how did Aren know?

"That’s your concern?" Aren’s voice was laced with disbelief and fury. "Aren’t you even a little remorseful?"

It was then that a click went off inside Neil’s head, and he realized how Aren had found out about his secret.

’There must’ve been a spy among the bodyguards I sent to kill Judah. That’s the only way he could know about this matter. Considering that he only found out now, this seems to be the case.’

His expression turned serious.

"Aren. Have you told anyone about this matter?"

"I haven’t," Aren said with a dark expression, his fists clenched, "but I’m planning to. I’ll get that poor woman justice. Let’s see you face the consequences of your actions."

As soon as Aren said this, Neil’s expression changed, reflecting fear.

"No, Aren," he pleaded, "you can’t do this. If you know about this matter, you must also know why I killed her, right? I did it for our company. If she revealed the existence of that illegitimate child and my affair, it would’ve ruined the reputation of our company."

"Moreover, she was asking for inheritance rights. My family could’ve broken apart due to this. Do you want to see your friend’s family break like this?"

"You are the one person I trust most and rely on. If you betray me, how would I even continue living? I’m telling you, if you reveal this to anyone, I’ll commit suicide."

He had begun full-on emotional blackmail, and it seemed it worked as Aren’s sigh resounded in the courtroom.

"I’ll only let it slide this once, and that too because your family is innocent. They shouldn’t suffer because of you."

Then, his voice turned cold.

"But... know this, if you ever do something like this again, I’ll expose you even though you are my best friend."

"Haha, of course," Neil laughed awkwardly. "Do you think I’m some sort of serial killer? This was the only time I’ve done something like this."

"Hmm."

The camera showed Aren leaving, and the video ended when he sat back in the car.

Then, the screen turned black; however, a second later, Aren appeared on the screen, speaking to the camera.

"I hope this video never needs to be revealed, but if it is shown, it must be for the best. I only filmed this video as proof that, if someday my conscience couldn’t bear the guilt of hiding the truth behind that secretary’s death, I’ll be able to prove Neil’s crime in court. But I’m sure that I won’t betray my friend, so this video will air only after I’m dead. Still, I will feel better knowing that there was something I did for that secretary in the end even if this video never sees the light of day."

And then, the video truly ended, leaving only silence in the courtroom.
