Richest Rag-picker
Chapter 219 - 217: This Isn’t the Civilian Version?
The car stopped in a rather remote area behind the villa complex. It was unkempt and messy, with weeds growing almost knee-high.
Looking around, Fang Chenyi was surprised to see no one.
But Qi Xiaotian hopped out of the car, intrigued. He scanned the area with a smirk, then picked up a small rock and tossed it into a patch of bushes.
"Ouch!"
A pained cry was followed by a young man in a security uniform clambering out of the bushes with a mournful expression.
Fang Chenyi was stunned by the sight. ’Holy crap, he was lying in ambush? This is like something out of a movie! What kind of guys did I find? If you gave this man some camo and a sniper rifle, damn, you’d have a perfectly concealed sniper.’
While Fang Chenyi was musing to himself, the young man Qi Xiaotian had hit trotted over to them, snapped to attention, and shouted loudly:
"Sir! Captain!"
Qi Xiaotian waved his hand dismissively.
"Next time, if I find you within ten seconds again, you’ll be in for it. Alright, get on the car!"
"Yes, sir!"
With that, the equally tan young man quickly hopped onto the car’s running board.
Watching this display, Fang Chenyi felt like he was in the army.
He shook his head and looked at Qi Xiaotian, who was driving. "Do you have to be so serious?"
Qi Xiaotian turned his head and grinned at Fang Chenyi, revealing a set of pearly white teeth.
"Better safe than sorry."
The car drove to the next man’s position. Just like before, Fang Chenyi couldn’t see a soul. With his previous experience, he knew this one must be hidden too.
He waved at Qi Xiaotian, who was about to get out, and said with interest:
"Xiaotian, don’t say anything. Let me try to find him."
Qi Xiaotian grinned and agreed, opening the car door and standing still while scanning the surroundings.
Fang Chenyi opened his door and got out as well. He looked around. Unlike the previous grassy area, this spot was more open and regularly maintained by the property management, so there were limited places a person could hide.
After a quick scan, Fang Chenyi’s lips curved into a slight smile. He identified a few likely spots and started walking toward the back of a large rock.
Behind him, Qi Xiaotian was taken aback. He hadn’t expected his new boss to be so sharp, finding Mu Tou’s hiding spot at a glance.
Fang Chenyi smiled as he walked behind the rock he thought was the most likely spot. After all, it was the only thing in the area large enough to block someone from view. He was sure the guy was crouched behind it. To his disappointment, however, there was no one there.
He couldn’t help but shake his head with a wry smile. ’Looks like I underestimated these guys. If he was just hiding behind a rock, that would be too much like child’s play.’
Just then, he heard footsteps behind him. Turning, he saw Qi Xiaotian approaching. Fang Chen was about to tell him to take over the search.
But before Fang Chenyi could speak, Qi Xiaotian walked past him and kicked a slightly raised patch of grass at the base of the large rock.
"You embarrassing fool, get the hell out here! Brother Fang spotted you in a second. Aren’t you ashamed of yourself?"
Then, as a stunned Fang Chenyi watched from behind, the patch of grass—which, on closer inspection, looked just slightly different from the surrounding lawn—suddenly moved. A man then crawled out of the ground, dejected, and greeted Fang Chenyi and Qi Xiaotian in a disheartened tone:
"Sir... Captain!"
Fang Chenyi opened his mouth, but in the end, he didn’t ask the question on his mind: ’How did you hide there?’
They got back in the car. This time, Liu Yishou also didn’t get inside, but stood on the other running board. With Qi Xiaotian driving, Fang Chenyi riding inside, and a man on each side, Fang Chenyi was at a loss for words. In any case, it felt pretty good.
’The only thing that’s not ideal is this car. It’s not high-end enough. A proper SUV would be perfect. I’ll get these guys some camouflage gear later, and then give them the Knight XV to use. Heh heh, then I’ll have my very own security force.’
With that in mind, Fang Chenyi had Qi Xiaotian drive directly to the entrance of Villa No. 3. When the car stopped, Fang Chenyi hopped out and opened the garage door, revealing two cars and one empty space.
The empty spot was for Fang Chenyi’s Lamborghini. As for the other two cars, they were Bai Menghan’s pink Lamborghini and the Knight XV.
He opened the door of the Knight XV, drove it out, and parked it in front of Qi Xiaotian and the others, who had already gotten out and were waiting by the entrance.
Its massive body and tough, angular lines immediately filled Qi Xiaotian and the others with envy.
Hopping out of the vehicle, Fang Chenyi walked over to them. Seeing the looks on their faces, his lips curled up. He patted the tall vehicle’s body and said:
"What do you think of this car?"
Qi Xiaotian looked it over before turning his gaze to Fang Chenyi. He then chuckled and said:
"Heh heh, Brother Fang, you want the truth or a lie?"
Fang Chenyi gave Qi Xiaotian an annoyed look. "What kind of stupid question is that? Why would I want to hear a lie!"
Qi Xiaotian smiled sheepishly, then nodded and said seriously:
"The exterior is definitely tough and good-looking, and it’s modeled after a military armored vehicle. But these civilian versions are mostly for show—all form, no substance. We’ve studied these civilian vehicles before, and they’re a far cry from the real military-grade ones. For example, Brother Fang, look at this imitation armor plating. The military version is forged from six-millimeter steel plates, while the civilian version is just a sheet of... huh? This car uses six-millimeter steel plates too?"
As he spoke, Qi Xiaotian paused, taken aback. The armor plating he was about to use as an example for Fang Chenyi was identical to the military-grade version.
Surprised, he patted the armor plating, then turned and knocked on the car door, which produced a series of deep THUDS.
Qi Xiaotian froze. He then reached out and pulled the car door open. The sheer weight of it left him completely shocked. He turned back to Fang Chenyi with a look of utter disbelief.
"Brother Fang, is this thing actually military-grade?! But how did a military version even get into the country?!"
