Another ten minutes or so passed.

During that time, Fang Chenyi took out his phone and sent Qi Xiaotian a message. He saw Qi Xiaotian give a subtle nod out of the corner of his eye before looking out the window again.

Fang Chenyi pulled out his phone, glanced at the screen, and then turned around.

Seeing this, his father-in-law also rose to his feet.

Lu Zhisen, who was sitting opposite them, however, waited until Fang Chenyi was walking over before he stood up. It was obvious he was doing it on purpose.

’Since this new chairman likes to play such childish games, I’ll just play along.’

’Especially since I just sent a message to those senior executives.’

A smile crept onto his lips at the thought.

He strode to the door, and before Fang Chenyi had to lift a hand, Qi Xiaotian stepped forward and pulled it open.

After Fang Chenyi walked through, his father-in-law followed.

But when it was Lu Zhisen’s turn, Qi Xiaotian cut in front of him and walked out the door first.

Seeing a mere bodyguard dare to give him attitude, Lu Zhisen was instantly filled with rage.

He inwardly swore, ’Today, I will absolutely humiliate this chairman!’

Outside the door, the female secretary was waiting. When she saw the group emerge, she quickly moved to the front to lead the way.

Lu Zhisen gritted his teeth in anger at the sight. ’That little hussy, didn’t she see the look I gave her?’

Originally, Lu Zhisen’s plan was to not lead the way. The new chairman surely wouldn’t know where Meeting Room Two was, which would force Lu Zhisen himself to walk in front.

And by walking ahead of the chairman, he could further enhance his own prestige in front of the management team.

But it was too late to call out to his secretary now. He shook his head in resignation. ’Fine, I’ll let you be smug for a little longer.’

The female secretary led the way, with Fang Chenyi and the others following at a brisk pace. Soon, they were inside the elevator.

The elevator arrived at the twenty-ninth floor, opening directly to Meeting Room Two.

This made Fang Chenyi a bit curious. ’Why is Meeting Room Two right here? Where’s Meeting Room One?’

Of course, he didn’t know that the room he had just left was, in fact, Meeting Room One.

The door to Meeting Room Two was open, and even before they entered, they could hear the distant murmur of conversation from within.

But there were too many people to make out what they were saying.

The young secretary stopped at the entrance to the meeting room and made a gesture for them to proceed.

Fang Chenyi ignored her and strode directly inside, with his father-in-law and Qi Xiaotian close behind.

As Lu Zhisen walked past the young secretary, however, he gave her perky rear a hard squeeze and whispered, "Just you wait, I’ll deal with you later!"

After speaking, he adjusted his tie and walked in at a leisurely pace.

The entire conference room was massive, well over one hundred and fifty square meters. It was also incredibly luxurious. At the front, on a slightly elevated dais, was a wall-sized display showing a city nightscape. Below, the tiered seating, like in a lecture hall, was furnished entirely with black leather sofas. Combined with the sophisticated lighting overhead, the room felt both opulent and grand.

Upon their arrival, the hundred-plus people in the room all fell silent, stopping their conversations and turning their gazes toward the dais.

At that moment, Lu Zhisen slowly walked to the center of the dais, picked up the microphone, and prepared to speak.

Seeing this, Fang Chenyi couldn’t help but frown slightly. Qi Xiaotian, by his side, had naturally seen it as well.

Before Lu Zhisen could speak, Qi Xiaotian prepared to step forward and snatch the microphone from his hand.

However, Fang Chenyi, who was standing in front of him, simply raised a hand slightly to stop him.

This exact exchange was caught by Lu Zhisen, who, despite holding the microphone up front, had been watching them from the corner of his eye.

A smug arc formed on his lips. ’The kid knows his place, at least.’

At this thought, he grew even more pleased, and decided to no longer dwell on his secretary’s little mistake.

Watching the smug look on Lu Zhisen’s face, Qi Xiaotian couldn’t stand the sight of him. ’I know this isn’t the army and I have to use my head,’ he thought, ’but I just want to go up there and beat the crap out of this guy.’ Still, reason told him he had to listen to Brother Fang.

The audience’s gazes were all fixed on Fang Chenyi on the stage. They all recognized him as the new chairman mentioned in the memo that had been sent to all employees.

Lu Zhisen clutched the microphone, cleared his throat, and began to speak to the crowd below:

"AHEM, if I could have everyone’s attention. Today, we have a very important person with us. Now, allow me to introdu—"

But before he could finish, Fang Chenyi, a warm smile on his face, clapped him on the shoulder while simultaneously reaching a hand out in front of him.

Lu Zhisen froze, not understanding what he meant. ’In all my years here,’ he thought, ’this is the first time anyone has ever interrupted me while I was speaking.’

But before he could process his confusion, Fang Chenyi had already casually taken the microphone from his hand.

Then, looking at Lu Zhisen, he said with a faint smile:

"It’s alright, I can introduce myself. You can go back to your seat."

As soon as the words were spoken, Lu Zhisen snapped back to reality. A wave of humiliation washed over him, and his face turned pale. To do this in front of so many people... it was a complete and utter show of disrespect.

But looking at Fang Chenyi’s perfectly placid expression, he couldn’t say anything. The man was the chairman. No matter how unwilling he was, he couldn’t just snatch the microphone back, could he?

Taking a deep breath, the scheming Lu Zhisen forced a smile, turned, and walked to the seat that had his name on it.

The crowd below saw this but didn’t think much of it. ’He’s a new boss, a reckless young man who doesn’t yet understand how things work. He’ll learn his place eventually.’ That was the general consensus.

It was just like the advice Lu Zhisen had given the previous chairman: ’You just sit back and collect your annual dividends. I’ll handle the rest of the company’s management, so you don’t need to worry your head about it.’

And of course, in their eyes, that advice applied just as well to this new chairman.

After taking the microphone, Fang Chenyi first scanned everyone in the room before speaking with a broad smile:

"Alright, I’m sure you all know who I am. That’s right, I’m your new chairman. Since this is my first time at the group, allow me to get to know all of you. Come on, would all department heads please raise your hands so I can see who you are."

As he finished speaking, the people in the first three rows exchanged glances. Then, they looked toward Lu Zhisen, who was sitting at the front with a placid smile. Only after seeing Lu Zhisen give a subtle, almost imperceptible nod did they slowly raise their hands.
