Richest Rag-picker
Chapter 270 - 269: We Quit
Fang Chenyi saw the reactions of the crowd below, including the slightly smug smile playing on Lu Zhisen’s lips.
However, he remained silent, waiting as the crowd buzzed with discussion.
It wasn’t until Qi Xiaotian pushed open the door, walked in, and nodded at Fang Chenyi.
Only then did Fang Chenyi raise a hand to quiet them.
Seeing this, the crowd gradually fell silent, their eyes turning to Fang Chenyi.
At this point, Lu Zhisen felt the time was ripe. He turned to Fang Chenyi, a smirk on his face, and spoke again.
"Chairman Fang, as you can see, firing a veteran employee over such a trivial matter would be deeply disheartening for everyone here."
After he finished, the crowd below looked like they were about to speak up again.
But Fang Chenyi simply swept his gaze over the crowd before landing on the speaker, Lu Zhisen, and said coolly:
"President Lu, please be patient. As I said, there are three personnel appointments and dismissals today. So, whatever you have to say, please wait until I have announced all three."
Hearing this, Lu Zhisen couldn’t help but sneer inwardly, though his face remained a placid, expressionless mask as he nodded.
"Fine. We’ll wait until you’ve announced this third item concerning me before we discuss it. But I’ll repeat my advice to you, Chairman Fang: you’re new here. You can’t afford to break the hearts of the brothers who have fought for the Wei Group for so many years."
After speaking, Lu Zhisen sat down and said no more. He knew today’s confrontation would determine his future standing in the company. If he didn’t make his opponent utterly terrified of him, he could no longer be the "local emperor" of the group!
As his gaze swept over the senior executives below, he didn’t feel the slightest bit of worry.
’After all these years, which of these executives sitting here hasn’t taken benefits from me? And of course, for those who haven’t, I still have leverage over them.’
’Disturbing one part would bring down the whole system. I’m so deeply entrenched in this group now. As long as this chairman doesn’t want to paralyze the company, there’s absolutely nothing he can do to me.’
At this thought, he immediately picked up his phone from the table, composed a message, and sent it to a WeChat group he had created: "When the announcement is over, everyone go on strike!"
After the message was sent, all the senior executives below either lowered their heads, pretended to check the time, or stole a surreptitious glance—in short, every one of them looked at their phones.
Fang Chenyi watched this scene closely, mentally noting down everyone who had looked at their phone.
He deliberately gave them time to look down before continuing in a perfectly calm voice:
"Alright. I will now announce the third personnel change. Effective immediately, Lu Zhisen is stripped of all his positions within the group and will be dismissed!"
After saying this, Fang Chenyi made an "OK" sign with one hand behind his back. Standing by the door, Qi Xiaotian immediately reached into his pocket and pressed a small device inside.
At the same time, the conference room erupted into an uproar.
But Lu Zhisen couldn’t help but laugh out loud. He wasn’t the least bit afraid; in fact, he found it rather comical. ’This kid is truly a clueless hothead who doesn’t know a damn thing.’
’Looks like it’s time to use that message I just sent to the execs.’ Thinking this, he picked up his phone again to compose another message to send to the group. But once he had it typed out, he was confused to find that the message failed to send.
Looking closely, he saw that his phone had absolutely no signal. Even the Wi-Fi was gone.
A faint sense of unease crept into his heart, but he didn’t think too much of it. He stood up directly, raised a hand to signal for quiet, and then said:
"Haha, this company belongs to Chairman Fang. Since Chairman Fang has spoken, then I’ll just resign."
After speaking, he put on a show of righteous indignation and began to gather the things on his desk.
But just as the words left his mouth, the director of the finance department—the same woman who had run out of his room earlier—was the first to stand up and speak:
"Heh, so you’re just getting rid of him now that he’s served his purpose. Everyone knows how much President Lu has contributed to the company over the years, and now you’re just going to fire him? With such an inhuman boss and such an inhuman company, I’d rather not work here! I quit too!"
After speaking, she also made a show of packing up the notebook on her desk, but anyone could tell from her slow movements that she was only trying to make a statement.
After she finished, the surrounding senior executives began to voice their opinions one after another.
"If you fire President Lu, then I’ll resign too!"
"Heh, a new emperor brings his own court. Since the chairman can’t tolerate us, we might as well all resign ourselves. It’ll save the chairman the trouble of cleaning us out one by one."
All sorts of voices rose and fell, but the message was the same: if Lu Zhisen was fired, then they would all quit.
Once everyone had more or less stated their opinion, Fang Chenyi’s amused gaze swept over the indignant crowd. He then nodded and picked up the microphone.
Seeing the chairman pick up the microphone, the crowd began to quiet down, waiting to see how he would handle this situation. Lu Zhisen, in particular, just sat there with a smile, not saying a word, as if everything was under his control.
When everyone was quiet, Fang Chenyi nodded with a smile and asked:
"If I fire Lu Zhisen, then all of you will resign, is that right?"
Although no one answered him, their expressions all said, ’That’s right.’
Fang Chenyi nodded again.
"Very good. You’re all quite impressive. You’ve shown me the unity of this group."
Hearing this, Lu Zhisen felt even more smug. ’Heh, so now you know how powerful I am? Looking for a way to back down, are you? It’s not that simple. You try to hit me with a stick and then expect to get off so easily? Dream on!’
With this in mind, he suddenly stood up with a smile and addressed the crowd below:
"Everyone, I, Lu Zhisen, will remember your kind intentions. But this company belongs to Chairman Fang alone. If he wants to fire me, there’s nothing I can do. You all shouldn’t act on impulse."
Hearing this, the crowd below immediately became even more indignant. They went on about all the blood, sweat, and tears Lu Zhisen had poured into the company, saying that without him there would be no Wei Group. At the same time, they declared their minds were made up—they had to leave this heartless company unless President Lu stayed. Otherwise, they were gone for sure.
Fang Chenyi watched these discussions with a cold, detached gaze. The argument continued like this for more than ten minutes before Fang Chenyi finally spoke again:
"Heh, your team spirit is truly touching. So, how about a show of hands so I can see? If I fire President Lu, how many of you will resign along with him?"
