Chapter 576: A Serene Voice and A Beautiful Woman (1)

Third Person’s POV

After pretending to stumble helplessly under the effects of her poison, Ethan had secretly dragged her consciousness into a maze of layered illusions and interconnected false realities that he had built for her.

Everything she had experienced afterward, including the process of binding his helpless form with her vines, then dragging him to the bed, and then mocking him, had merely been part of the illusion labyrinth Ethan had constructed inside her mind.

Meanwhile, in reality, her physical body had remained completely vulnerable before him the entire time.

Even though she didn’t understand the full intricacies of her defeat, the horrifying realization that this young man had made her body and soul completely defenceless just moments ago caused cold fear to explode within Elis’s heart.

But she still underestimated the degree to which she had been at Ethan’s mercy.

As if Ethan had truly wished it, he could have left her trapped endlessly inside that mental labyrinth until her body eventually died while her consciousness wandered eternally within the false dream world created by him.

But clearly, that was not Ethan’s intention. 𝒻𝓇𝑒𝘦𝘸𝑒𝒷𝓃ℴ𝑣𝘦𝑙.𝒸ℴ𝘮

At the moment, Ethan simply stared coldly into her frightened emerald eyes from extremely close proximity.

His crimson gaze no longer contained anger alone.

Instead, there was now a terrifying coldness and merciless dominance within them that made Elis’s entire body tremble involuntarily.

Many shallow cuts still covered Ethan’s arms, shoulders, and body from the earlier battle.

Thin streams of bloody streaks had now frozen down his pale skin, yet Ethan completely ignored all of it as if such injuries were utterly insignificant to him.

Meanwhile, Elis’s emerald eyes had already become completely filled with genuine fear and panic.

Only now did she finally realize what kind of terrifying monster she had foolishly provoked.

The handsome young man before her no longer resembled some restrained and weakened mage.

Instead, he felt like a terrifying ancient ice creature disguised beneath the appearance of a beautiful human youth.

The freezing aura radiating from Ethan’s body became even denser.

The entire room rapidly grew colder.

Frost spread wildly across the white wall behind Elis, while even her breath started turning into visible white mist.

Her teeth involuntarily began clattering from both the freezing cold and the fear overwhelming her mind.

Especially when she looked into Ethan’s crimson eyes and realized with horror that they seemed almost completely devoid of mercy at this moment.

She had never been in such a situation where she had been rendered completely helpless before an enemy, so her shock and horror were very real.

Ethan had deliberately increased the concentration of ice mana in the surrounding air and had also guided portions of it directly into Elis’s body to freeze her mana veins, wary of the possibility that she might possess some unknown trump card that could be unleashed in desperation, even though he was not going to kill her.

Even after successfully subduing her, he did not allow himself to become careless.

His master had taught him long ago that the most dangerous opponents were often those who appeared defeated.

A cornered enemy could become far more troublesome than a confident one.

Because of that, Ethan continuously circulated icy mana through the room and into Elis’s body, suppressing her movements while making sure she could not suddenly retaliate against him.

At the same time, he remained confident that the effects of his soul spell had not disappeared completely.

The Labyrinth of Lucent Lies had not merely trapped her mind for a brief moment.

It had left behind traces of devilish soul energy that were still disturbing her thoughts and emotions even now.

As a result, her ability to think clearly and make rational decisions had become chaotic and unreliable.

Looking directly into her frightened emerald eyes, Ethan spoke in a cold voice.

"Now, I will ask you again.

Tell me who you are, what this place is, and why you and the organization behind you brought me here."

The moment he voiced his questions, Elis’s body shuddered.

Her teeth clattered continuously while her eyes gradually became glassy and unfocused.

The freezing cold invading her veins, the lingering devilish soul energy left behind by Ethan’s spell, and the fear that had accumulated inside her heart all mixed together and created a terrifying storm within her mind.

When she looked at Ethan, she no longer saw a handsome young man standing before her.

Instead, his crimson eyes appeared unnaturally bright and sinister.

His violet hair seemed darker than before.

The freezing aura surrounding him distorted her perception until his entire figure resembled some fiendish devil that had crawled out from an ancient frozen abyss.

Every instinct inside her screamed danger.

As a result, she could not even properly listen to the questions he was asking.

All she felt was the sensation of pure and overwhelming fear.

Ethan quickly noticed that something was wrong, and his brows furrowed slightly.

This woman was not refusing to answer him, or to be exact, she had become incapable of doing so.

Just as he realized that Elis was becoming completely unresponsive, a gentle voice suddenly sounded from the side.

"Leave this poor girl alone, young master.

She has already paid for her mistake, and I believe you have punished her sufficiently."

The voice paused briefly before continuing.

"Now, I shall answer your questions in her place."

The moment Ethan heard that voice, something strange happened.

The frustration he had felt from being deceived, the irritation of remaining ignorant about recent events, and the anger he still carried toward the people responsible for bringing him here all seemed to melt away like snow beneath a warm spring sun.

The voice possessed a strangely soothing quality.

It was very soft, gentle, and womanly, making Ethan’s bones soft just on hearing it.

Every word seemed to flow naturally and effortlessly.

It carried a calmness that instinctively made people want to continue listening.

For a brief moment, Ethan even felt that he would not mind hearing that voice every day.
