 Theron felt the rage curb. He hurriedly wiped at his cheek with the back of a hand, feeling something icy run down it.
 A tear?
 Ridiculous. He felt it was ridiculous.

 The grip Theron had on his blades tightened, and he suddenly spun around, his short sword coming down with the momentum of a bolt of lightning.
 Chi.
 Blood flew. But this time, it wasn’t Theron’s.
 Theron’s gaze flickered. His body had moved entirely on its own just then, and it wasn’t because of his Third Eye.
 No... it wasn’t entirely on his own. He finally stopped paying attention to his Third Eye, and it suddenly felt as though his gaze itself was able to peer through the secrets of the world.
 The Angel and Demon Doctrines.
 Granny Chu hadn’t just created this domain on a whim; she was using a Spell. And a Spell came with circulation patterns, predictable results, and, most importantly, runes.
 Meaning, the moment Theron finally stopped leaning on his Third Eye so much, the background noise that was the sight granted to him by his new Doctrines made themselves known.

 </div> Realizing the reason for the change, Theron pulled in all his senses. As he did so, in the outside world, Granny Chu faltered, pulling back her hand with a flinch.
 Her eyes widened. Three of her fingers had been cut off.
 She hurried to accelerate backward, avoiding a stroke of Patriarch Shonagh’s calligraphy brush.
 "That brat!" she shrieked.
 She had only just said the words when Theron cut a path out from her field of mirrors, rolling out in a half-sorry state. Blood covered his body, and he had suffered several wounds from Granny Chu before he had managed to escape. Even so, he didn’t hurry to attack her.
 ’This woman managed to survive the swat of a King Realm expert. Patriarch Umbra hadn’t exactly been trying to kill her as that would cause him too much trouble, but she definitely shouldn’t have been able to get up that easy. It’s best to let someone else feel out her limits.’
 Theron huffed for breath, looking down at the back of his hand. A shard of ice was still there, but this was no ice formed by his Mandates. It was from his own tears.
 That feeling left his heart shuddering.
 Maybe the middle of such a chaotic battlefield wasn’t the best time to be considering something like this, but he just felt...
 Theron’s pupils constricted.
 A shadow appeared at his back and a palm descended.
 It seemed that Granny Chu wasn’t the only one targeting him in the midst of their battle. Seemingly having found an opening, Patriarch Umbra suddenly attacked.
 However, Dark Mana wasn’t nearly as subtle and sudden as Space Mana. And unlike Space Mana, Theron’s affinity for Dark Mana was leagues beyond.
 It couldn’t hide from him.
 Theron saw it coming from a million miles away.
 "JUST LET ME THINK!" he roared.

 Theron appeared again, high on a building’s roof. He pressed a hand to his chest, trying to breathe properly, but no amount of air seemed to be enough.
 Now was not the time. He needed his mind with him.
 ’Why now... why now...’
 It was so pathetic. Just a single moment of weakness, one that he had gotten out of so fast, and here he was again. How many powerful cultivators were there in the world? How many times would he be guaranteed to have just the same feeling of weakness?
 He just wanted to be free of all these burdens, all of this guilt, all of this fear of death.
 Why couldn’t everything just be... fixed?
 Theron gripped at his chest hard, pulling on what was left of his upper robes and tearing them away.
 A body littered with scars was revealed, each peak and valley reflecting beneath the shimmering sun... or what was left of it peeking through the dense black clouds.
 As though in response, what holes were left from Theron’s battles sealed up tight, the influence of Patriarch Umbra’s Mana surging to the point the density of Dark Mana had no choice but to respond in kind.
 The skies rumbled and rain began to fall.
 Theron felt it on his cheek likely long before anyone else realized what was happening.
 Rain...
 How long had it been since he had been beneath a good rainfall?
 He remembered how peaceful it had once made him feel.
 Slowly, he closed his eyes, the erratic beat of his heart slowing.

 </div> He could remember sitting by the windows of their small home, listening to the pitter-patter against the clear frame. He could smell the tea his mom had just made him, hear the chatter of his little sister Bobo in the background, feel the thick, worn pages of the book in his hands.
 Such a time of peace. Oh, how much he wanted to go back to that.
 Another bottle of wine appeared before Theron and he took another large swig. Somehow, this was even faster than before as the water began to soak him through.
 The wounds on his body seemed to vacuum up the trickling water, and before the shocked eyes of those below, he began to heal in real time until it was as though he had never been touched at all.
 Too long... it had been too long... since he had felt the rain.
 A buzzing sound radiated from Theron as though bolts and lightning were randomly forming. But just as quickly, they vanished.
 Then came the rush of wind, gliding along emerald currents. But they too vanished just as quickly.
 The world slowed around him, an eerie silence holding. And then...
 Chi.
 The barrier to the Cloud Realm shattered as though it was as thin as moist paper. Theron had only just broken through, yet this one came impossibly smoothly.
 Theron inhaled a breath and all the rain froze in place, the pitter-patter coming to an abrupt stop.
 It felt like the entire world was waiting on his exhale.</div>
