Roadmap to the Boundless Sky
Chapter 354Book 3, : Wu Qi
Guanshang Jing checked the company’s losses while walking through the tunnel leading to the underground.
Song Zicheng had left to snatch another propagated offspring, but he didn’t make it back. Obviously, he had died.
This was a loss of a powerful assistant.
Before the fight, he had twelve security guard captains with him, but now, more than half of them had died. The remaining security guards also didn’t number more than fifty.
There were around twenty elite security guards beside him, which were the company’s last line of defense.
Even though there might be more armed forces in charge of counterattack in the company, they simply couldn’t fight against the bioweapons.
Based on the sounds from his Realm Pass, the employees were dropping like flies. Some of the departments had gone quiet, which meant that they had fallen under enemy attack. This trend was going to continue. The remaining employees wouldn’t be able to last much longer.
The thirty-man unit around the directors was still at full capacity, and they weren’t weak either. However, they were in charge of protecting the directors and couldn’t be mobilized.
While Guanshang Jing was thinking about how to adjust the strategy to stall for time, he heard Mr. Yingwei’s voice.
“How much longer can you last, Mr. Guanshang?”
“Even if we retreat from key positions, we can only last for half an hour at most, and if those people join the fight... I’m not sure. Perhaps only a few minutes,” Guanshang Jing answered honestly.
“I understand. Mr. Guanshang, we want you to do whatever it takes to stop those people from coming underground. Ferris Wheel cannot collapse today.”
Guanshang Jing felt a stir in his heart. He had an inkling about what the directors planned to do, and hope grew in his heart. He answered firmly, “I understand!”

There was a huge creature in an area shaped like a well shaft under Ferris Wheel. Most of its body was concealed behind a curtain with ritual arrays from the Skyhigh Cult. Its exposed limbs were the color of bronze, and it was flickering with neon light when it breathed.
On its body were a neat row of ports, which were connected to the vital vessels extending from the walls of the well shaft and other places.
Gas was spraying down from above. Greenish-yellow liquid was also being injected into the creature’s body through the vital vessels. Ferris Wheel was injecting calorie and nutrient dense fluid into it.
The limp, shriveled tentacles on the ground started filling up, and the green neon light became brighter. After around ten minutes, it flung its tentacles upward and grabbed a climbing pole above the well shaft. Then, it started climbing up.

The bioweapons from the three departments seized control of most of Ferris Wheel’s building. They even located the entrance to the underground and were attacking the place while Guanshang Jing fought with everything he had with his team.
Xu Chan stood in the hall and watched it through his mobile biosentient entity. If it weren’t for the fact that he didn’t want to fight in a cramped space and the possibility that Guanshang Jing might have buried explosives in the tunnel, Xu Chan wouldn’t have let this fight last so long.
However, Ferris Wheel wasn’t the only one who could use explosives. The three departments could do the same. Bioweapons carrying explosives charged at Guanshang Jing’s team, and the number of casualties piled up. They had to keep retreating and fighting back while using the twisting tunnel to their advantage, but by the looks of it, they weren’t going to last much longer.
The bioweapons were easy to cultivate. They weren’t intelligent lifeforms and only needed to know one simple command: Carry explosives to the enemies. If any human died in battle, they needed to pay compensation, but that was not the case for bioweapons. No matter how many of them died, Xu Chan’s heart wouldn’t ache.
After more than twenty minutes, Ferris Wheel retreated to an underground hall. Clearly, it was a crucial location.
Just as Xu Chan was about to compose himself and take it in one go, he felt the ground tremble. Shortly after, another tremor shook the building.
He immediately became wary and said into his Realm Pass, “Abnormal situation detected. All units, retreat!”
These words were for the team members in the building but also for those in the rear.
The response units were ready and immediately retreated.
But no matter how fast they were, they were still a step too slow. A powerful mental energy blasted out from under the company building.
It spread outward like it had real, physical form and brushed against their bodies before heading further away.
Xu Chan and the four Third Limit martial artists he handpicked were prepared for it. Even so, the others swayed as dizziness overcame them for a moment. They staggered back a few steps before regaining their footing.
At that moment, the unit closest to Ferris Wheel was more than two kilometers away. Yet a large group of them still lost consciousness and collapsed like dominoes.
The bioweapons were affected even worse. The entire area was cleared of them, and even the insects in the sky fell like raindrops. Soon, they formed a thick layer on the ground.
Xu Chan’s expression turned grave as he sensed the persistent tremors in the ground. Something seemed to be climbing up. “Get ready, everyone.”
Soon after he said those words, cracks appeared in the middle of the hall, right where Ferris Wheel’s company logo was.
Boom!
The crystal tiles shattered and exploded outward.
Meanwhile, an octagonal well appeared under the logo. It was pitch black, and they couldn’t see where it led to.
A green tentacle resembling a vine swung about before falling down with a loud smack. The firm, hooked tentacle landed on the sturdy floor.
Soon, they heard quiet scraping and low growls coming from the bottomless well shaft.
Half a minute later, a huge creature crawled out of the tunnel and presented its full body on the floor.
It resembled an insect with a shell when it stood on two legs. It was more than ten meters tall and had a streamlined body, though its tail had a sharp tip.
Its head and shoulders were covered by a white exoskeleton similar to the helmets of warriors from the old era. Feelers that were several meters long grew out from its head. They were agile and extendable, their tips spread open like blossoming flowers.
The creature’s head was rather flat, but it could turn it left and right, and it had an angular face. Rows of compound eyes went down from its face to its chest, and they were all glowing with a green light.
When it spread its broad shoulders, two whip-like forelegs fell on the floor. Those were what it had used to climb up.
Its waist was rather thin and connected to powerful middle and hind legs. It also had some tentacles to help with balance and sensing the world. Each leg had multiple joints and thick tips. All of them had grasping claws and suckers, along with thin exoskeletons to help prop them up. Clearly, it could travel on any terrain.
It was Wu Qi, Ferris Wheel’s active biosentient entity.
Xu Chan stared at it, while his four team members took a few steps back with guarded looks on their faces. This action was prompted by their instinctive need to protect themselves. Even they couldn’t ignore such a huge creature.
While Xu Chan stood still, faint light shone on his fists.
Even though he was tiny compared to the creature, Wu Qi wasn’t so strong that it far exceeded their power level.
The creature was too young. It had been cultivated for ten years or a bit longer, but definitely no more than fifteen years. 𝙛𝒓𝒆𝙚𝒘𝒆𝓫𝙣𝓸𝙫𝓮𝒍.𝒄𝒐𝓶
Also, active biosentient entities required tons of calories and special substances to stay alive, but Ferris Wheel didn’t have the capability or channels to get such things. One of the reasons why they wanted to join the Union was to get them.
Hence, if Ferris Wheel had been given more time, Wu Qi would have grown stronger. While it was a difficult opponent now, they could fight it. This was the best time to take it out.
“Get ready, everyone,” Xu Chan repeated himself.

The screens at the command center had dimmed for a long time. Once they started functioning again, they could once again see what was going on inside and outside the Ferris Wheel building.
Even so, the video lagged, as if the signal was facing powerful interference.
Liang Guanghai cast a glance at the large number of unconscious combatants around the building, then at the savage-looking Wu Qi. His expression was grim.
If it had such a huge body, it meant that it had powerful mental energy. Domain signals were usually released by active biosentient entities, and they could cover dozens of kilometers, so it wasn’t crazy for Wu Qi to be able to hit so many people with its mental energy.
However, if active biosentient entities wanted to fight, they had to do so with their real bodies. The only exception were combat active biosentient entities like Hongfu.
Wu Qi was the real problem they needed to get rid of. The moment they took it out, they would destroy Ferris Wheel.
While the liaison officers and other officials had heard of active biosentient entities and even communicated with them, they had never seen their true forms. After seeing Wu Qi, they cried out in surprise and shock at its huge, bizarre form.
“Sir, you have an external signal trying to contact you through an encoded channel,” Sentry Tower said.
Liang Guanghai was surprised but ordered, “Connect to the signal.”
Once the call went through, he said, “Liang Guanghai speaking.”
After listening for a while, his expression turned stern. “Are you sure?”
A moment passed before he answered, “Thank you for your help. I understand. I’ll check your plan later. Our goals are the same.”
