Sequence Highway Survival: I Upgrade Supplies in the Apocalypse
Chapter 500: Climbing the Mountain
The sun came out.
Without any warning.
Chen Ye had originally thought it would take at least a few more days to see the sun again.
He never expected it to be today.
Around nine in the morning.
The solar charging panel on the Monster Pickup Truck had already reached a hundred percent efficiency ratio.
Considering it was still morning, that was something.
The Monster Pickup Truck’s charging speed was much faster than before.
As the battery level increased, Chen Ye’s range anxiety gradually faded.
It was just a shame to waste all this solar energy.
Unfortunately, the efficiency had already maxed out.
He had originally planned to upgrade the Monster Pickup Truck’s battery capacity, but now it looked like he barely had any Slaughter Points left. He would have to wait for another opportunity to consider it.
Of course, there were plenty of other things that needed Slaughter Points at the moment.
This morning’s breakfast was much better than the past few days.
At the very least, Chen Ye didn’t have to cook for himself.
Breakfast was noodles, with a topping made from lettuce, potatoes, and dried meatworms.
Although there was only a tiny bit of meat in the topping, it was still far better than what the ordinary convoy members got.
The ordinary convoy members basically ate whatever was available.
Some people were eating bread.
Others were gnawing on a piece of hardtack.
A few were digging two potatoes out of the campfire.
Of course, those pieces of bread were also expired.
But for people in the apocalypse, things like expired food weren’t the only factor in deciding whether something was edible.
What determined whether food could be eaten was mainly whether it had a strange smell, whether it had mold, or whether eating it would kill you.
As for things like getting a stomachache from eating it.
That was already an everyday occurrence.
Of course, the rules on each vehicle still followed the same ones Iron Lion had set up before.
All the supplies anyone obtained had to be handed over.
First, to avoid conflicts over supplies.
Second, to make management easier.
Some people would get a large amount of supplies all at once, and those with poor self-control would devour everything in one sitting.
Then they would have to rely on the convoy’s relief for the rest of the time.
So, it was simpler to just collect all the supplies and distribute them evenly.
Of course, based on how much each person had gathered, the convoy supervisor would let them keep a portion according to a certain ratio.
This way, it wouldn’t discourage the ordinary convoy members from collecting supplies.
This rule had been changed after the Oasis, after Xue Nan had thought it over carefully.
After breakfast, the convoy packed up and set off.
Today’s road would be difficult.
According to Squad Leader Chu, they would have to climb at least over the few mountains ahead.
This was a place with no human presence.
There weren’t even paths for people to walk on, let alone roads for vehicles.
At the start, the convoy drove through the middle of the Earthen Forest.
Although the roads on both sides were packed with dense earth pillars.
At least they could still carve out a path.
Chen Ye’s Monster Pickup Truck took the lead, followed by Squad Leader Chu’s vehicle and the rest.
The Monster Pickup Truck was the only Wonder vehicle in the convoy aside from Dantai Bie’s car.
Using his vehicle to lead was the most suitable choice.
Plus, with that monster inside the car, if any emergency happened, they would be far more prepared than the other vehicles.
The fact that tentacles would extend out of the car had already been seen by many people in the convoy, so it was no longer a secret.
Sure enough, when the convoy had advanced about twenty kilometers.
The Monster Pickup Truck had just driven onto a patch of yellow earth.
It felt a slight tremor, and then the entire vehicle began to sink.
A large black hole suddenly appeared beneath the Monster Pickup Truck, and it was falling into it.
Seeing this, the convoy members all gasped in shock.
Iron Lion was about to jump down to help.
Then he saw countless tentacles emerge from every gap in the vehicle.
These tentacles were both thick and thin.
But they all firmly grabbed onto the edges of the pit.
Then they gently lifted the Monster Pickup Truck out of the hole.
Once the vehicle reached a safe spot, the tentacles quickly retracted back into the car.
Everyone breathed a huge sigh of relief.
Several people jumped out of their vehicles to examine the suddenly appearing pit.
It was a long, narrow pit.
From where Chen Ye had fallen, it stretched far to the left and right.
It was like a crack in the ground.
Completely cutting off any possibility of the convoy going around it.
Even though the sun was shining brightly today.
Standing at the edge of the pit, they could feel a bone-chilling cold emanating from within.
There was even a faint whistling wind sound coming from below.
When the sunlight reached the edge of the pit, it was swallowed by the endless darkness.
Even with the eyesight of a Superhuman, they still couldn’t see what was inside.
The group studied it for a while but ultimately came up with nothing.
Only Squad Leader Chu recorded everything he saw in his captain’s notebook.
Iron Lion directly snapped off a stone pillar and threw it into the pit.
The result was... nothing. Aside from the wind, there was no sound at all.
"Forget it, forget it. Let’s go. There’s too much we don’t know about this place. No need to dig deeper."
Chu Che waved his hand, sending everyone on their way.
Iron Lion lined up some longer stone pillars side by side over the pit.
For him, this was a piece of cake.
This guy had four arms, and each one effortlessly grabbed a stone pillar.
Judging by his expression, he wasn’t even breaking a sweat, and he could even flash a goofy grin at everyone.
In just two or three minutes, Iron Lion had completely covered the mouth of the pit.
Everyone got out of their vehicles and crossed the suddenly appearing pit over the makeshift stone bridge.
Then came the other vehicles.
Each vehicle was securely tied with thick ropes.
Iron Lion held onto the other end of the rope.
Behind him were all the survivors, holding onto the back of the rope.
In the end, the convoy made it across the pit without incident.
After that, they encountered several more suddenly appearing pits.
But for the Monster Pickup Truck, none of them were a problem.
Some pits were small enough that the convoy could simply go around them.
For the larger ones.
If they truly couldn’t go around, the Superhumans in the convoy could handle them.
If that still wasn’t enough, Chen Ye could use Smoke Breath to simulate a bridge for the vehicles to cross.
By the second day, these suddenly appearing pits had almost completely stopped.
But the road ahead wasn’t easy either.
The mountain paths were rugged, with potholes everywhere.
It was exactly the kind of place where no human had ever set foot.
Fortunately, after the Sea of Chaotic Graves, all the vehicles in the convoy had undergone targeted off-road modifications.
Although some sections of the road ahead were even more extreme than the Sea of Chaotic Graves.
At least they could still drive on them.
With the help of the Superhumans on board, the convoy could barely manage to keep moving.
And so, they went up and down mountains, over and over again.
In some places, there was no road at all.
Iron Lion would step in, turning himself into a human heavy machine and forcibly carving out a path.
For some sections where even Iron Lion had trouble.
Sun Xixi would step in.
With her Fire Dragon Sword, her pink hair flying, she looked like an ancient Sword God. Usually, a single swing of her sword could solve most problems.
Even Dantai Bie had the ability to fly.
He could fly in the air like a drone, checking the road ahead.
Of course, Dantai Bie’s flight was very different from Sun Xixi’s sword flight.
This guy wrapped himself in the Qi he cultivated to achieve flight.
And so, although the convoy was slow, they were still gradually approaching the edge of the Two Realms.
Finally, after a week, the convoy reached its last stop.
At this point, all the vehicles in the convoy were on a large platform at the top of a mountain.
A dilapidated wooden bridge stretched straight into the sea of clouds.
The next step for the convoy was to cross this bridge, which looked extremely unreliable.
