Shadow: I Can Use All Elements
Chapter 53: Chaos In The Crowd
After Shadow finished his fight, the arena did not immediately quiet down, as the echoes of the previous battle still lingered in the air along with the crowd’s excitement, which refused to settle even after the result had already been decided.
Above the battlefield, the massive screen projector flickered slightly before updating, displaying his new standing in the rankings with clear, glowing digits that could be seen from every corner of the arena.
6666667th → 6666663th
Someone in the audience looked wt the rank change and asked
"...wait... he only moved four ranks after that one sided performance?"
Another replied.
"No... that just means the people above him are monsters."
Third spectator girl said quietly.
"...or he is."
Shadow lifted his gaze toward the screen, observing the change without any visible reaction, though his eyes lingered on the numbers for a brief moment as if calculating something internally.
He shook his head slightly, not out of disbelief but out of mild resignation, as he quietly muttered, "I guess we’re staying here longer."
[Your enthusiasm has been noted]
Shadow paused for a second upon hearing the sarcastic tone of the system before ingnoring it.
The ranking system clearly required repeated participation, and if his position only moved by a few places after a decisive victory, then leaving anytime soon was not a realistic option.
Without wasting time standing around, Shadow immediately searched for another random match, showing no hesitation as he navigated the system interface with practiced ease, as if he had already accepted that this process would continue for a while.
The moment the match was confirmed, his surroundings shifted once again.
The arena around him dissolved, replaced by a completely different environment that felt unfamiliar despite carrying the same structural essence, as the new battlefield appeared wider, with darker tones and a slightly more intense atmosphere that contrasted with the previous one.
The crowd was different as well, composed of entirely new spectators who had no knowledge of what had just happened in his last fight.
However, that did not last long.
As Shadow stood calmly in the center of the arena, he noticed something unusual happening within the audience, as several empty seats that had previously been scattered throughout the crowd began to fill rapidly, as if people were appearing out of nowhere.
The transition was not subtle, and it did not take long before the number of spectators increased significantly.
"What’s going on, where did all of these people come from suddenly?" one of the original spectators asked, clearly confused as he turned his head from side to side, trying to understand the sudden influx.
The answer revealed itself almost immediately.
As more people arrived, their attention locked onto a single figure standing within the arena, and as their eyes adjusted to his appearance and the name displayed above him, a wave of recognition spread through the newly formed crowd.
The same reaction that had occurred in the previous arena began to repeat itself here.
Murmurs turned into excitement, and excitement quickly escalated into loud, uncontrollable chatter.
"That’s him... that’s the one from the last match."
"No way, he already queued again, isn’t he tired for using such a strong attack previously?"
"I followed his name as soon as I saw the result screen."
The realization spread rapidly among the original spectators as well, who began to understand that the sudden increase in audience was not random, but rather a direct result of Shadow’s presence.
A random guy suddenly shouted from the crowd as he tried to be funny.
"Why is his name ’The Demon Shadow’ bro thinks he’s the final boss "
Another answered immediately immediately
"...he killed someone in one move last match."
"...oh."
The audience’s attention shifted toward him with even more growing curiosity.
Inside the arena, however, Shadow remained indifferent to the attention, as his focus had already moved toward his opponent.
Standing across from him was a young boy who looked no older than eleven, his posture tense but not fearful, as he gripped the handle of his weapon while staring directly at Shadow.
"Hey unc, what are you wearing? Is this some kind of prize you get when you win matches?" the kid asked, his tone carrying a mixture of curiosity and casual boldness that did not match the situation he was in.
Shadow let out a quiet sigh as he listened, because the question was almost identical to what he had heard in his previous match, making the situation feel repetitive in a way that he found mildly exhausting.
He chose not to respond.
Instead, he simply stood still and waited for the arena system to announce the start of the match, his expression calm as his eyes remained fixed on his opponent.
Unlike before, however, he did not intend to end the fight immediately.
There was no urgency in his movements, and this time, he allowed the moment to stretch slightly longer.
A faint pause passed.
Then the match began
The boy moved first.
Without hesitation, he unsheathed his sword and stepped forward with surprising speed, his body reinforcing itself through his awakening as subtle energy flowed through his limbs, enhancing his physical abilities beyond normal human limits.
His movements were sharp and deliberate, showing that he had experience despite his age, as each step carried controlled force while his grip on the weapon remained steady.
It was clear that he was a warrior-type.
To an ordinary observer, his speed would have been impressive, and his approach would have seemed threatening.
To Shadow, however, it was something else entirely.
It was slow.
Not just slow in comparison, but slow to the point where every motion felt predictable, as if the outcome had already been decided before the attack had even begun.
Shadow watched him approach without reacting immediately, allowing the boy to close the distance as if testing how far he would go.
Then, without any warning, Shadow moved.
His body blurred forward, erasing the space between them in an instant, reaching the midpoint before the boy could fully register what was happening.
At the same time, a dagger formed in his hand, crafted entirely from condensed ice, its surface sharp and clear as it reflected the ambient light of the arena.
There was no dramatic buildup.
There was no wasted motion.
The blade moved in a clean, precise arc.
It sliced through the boy’s throat effortlessly.
For a brief moment, everything seemed to slow.
Blood splattered outward, staining the air as the boy’s eyes widened in shock, his body freezing mid-motion and his grip on the sword weakened.
He choked on his own blood, unable to react or defend himself, the damage had already been done before he even understood what had happened.
Then his body shattered.
Fragments of light replaced his form as the arena system activated its recovery function, instantly removing him from the battlefield and reconstructing him outside the arena, completely intact.
Silence lasted only for a fraction of a second.
Then the system announced the result.
[The Demon Shadow wins]
The voice echoed across the arena, clear and authoritative, leaving no room for doubt.
The reaction from the audience was immediate.
Cheers erupted from every direction, louder than before, as the crowd responded to what they had just witnessed with a mix of excitement and disbelief.
"Now I get why so many people showed up for this fight."
"That wasn’t even a fight... it was over instantly."
"He didn’t even try."
The noise continued to build as more spectators began reacting, their attention completely locked onto Shadow, who stood alone in the center of the arena as if nothing significant had just occurred.
Above him, the ranking screen flickered again.
Numbers shifted.
Another increase.
The system quietly acknowledged his progress, though the exact change did not matter as much.
At the same time, faint system notifications began appearing within his interface, layered subtly rather than overwhelming him all at once.
[Quest Progress Updated]
[Win 3 consecutive arena matches: 2/3]
[Reward: Pending]
The information settled into place naturally, as if it had always been part of the process, rather than something newly introduced.
Shadow glanced at it briefly before dismissing it from his immediate focus.
The crowd continued to grow.
More spectators were arriving, drawn by his name, his performance, and the growing reputation that was forming around him with each match.
The words blended into the noise.
For Shadow, however, there was no reason to stay.
Without acknowledging the crowd, without reacting to the cheers or the attention, he opened the system once more and tried to search for another match.
But a female voice came from the audience that made him stop
