Chapter 485: An Accidental (& Familiar Feeling) Memory

’Suddenly a furious storm came up on the lake, so that the waves swept over the boat. But Jesus was sleeping. The disciples went and woke him, saying, "Lord, save us! We’re going to drown!"

He replied, "You of little faith, why are you so afraid?" Then he got up and rebuked the winds and the waves, and it was completely calm.

Suddenly, rushing in undirected, Charybdis with his IceEye active, a worried purple aura jumps into the growing room leak.

On the other side, he swims through the padded room full of water. Using his own ability to displace water within his vision, he uses large created currents to push out the barely struggling and passed out Vinland soldiers to their safety, one by one. All while creating a seal at the end to prevent less water from leaking in on a surprised Saku’s side.

He watches as coughing, hacking, and vomiting soaked soldiers try to grasp any available oxygen.

The medic who essentially saved them kneels by the side of unconscious allies and starts performing CPR.

Some of the saved, half recovered soldiers work on military instinct, and start assisting their partners in the midst of watery chaos.

Holding his breath, focusing on saving everybody, the selfless Takamagahara member continues using the powers of his physically taxing symbiote. Charybdis’ vision starts fading, but he makes sure the last dark figure is shot out the end of his dying current.

From the view of his IceEye, he sees the view of a beautiful woman with long blood red hair, and yellow eyes, opening her arms to invite him into her embrace.

Char: "Ma...?"

As the airless hero begins involuntary inhaling saltwater, the timid purple aura switches to a bright yellow at the last second through his closed right eyelid, before fading shortly after.

[Two Minutes Before]

From the entrance into the currently dangerous underwater traffic tunnel, Shelly holding an injured Aiden, Katsu, Itsuka, Laban, Dom, Sol, TayTay, Friend, and Scylia are on the other side of Daisuki’s portal.

Charybdis hands his bag covered rifle through the inner dimensional hole to his sister.

Shelly kneels down, placing Aiden on the ground. His back is up against the concrete.

Knowing what is coming next, Katsu’s eyes dart back and forth from the hole leading to the flooding medical room, to Shelly.

Scylia: "Charybdis!?"

Katsu watches as his division’s Gunner turns his back from dry safety and sprints for the second portal Saku has produced.

Being the instinctual savior she is, Shelly stands up and sees the same thing.

She looks at a concerned, still phyisically weak Scylia, struggling to get through the portal hole to stop her precious little brother.

Shelly then looks at Katsu and her beloved purpose nods in confirmation to snap into action.

Katsu: "I’ll keep watch of Aiden."

Without a word in response, Shelly activates her pink/gold SanguineSoulSeiõrShield nods back and sprints for the portal her Mentor has created.

She gently pulls back Scylia and Itsuka holds the red haired older sister back as Shelly hops through with a *SPLASH* landing in shin high salt water.

Daisuki: "Why aren’t you guys staying over there!?"

Locked in on her heroic task, the Ace doesn’t answer but uses the very limited light from the portal leading out to locate the Vinland medic and Saku standing next to the now successfully sealed hole leading into the flooded, padded hostage room.

Before she can spring into the drain-like vortex, the first of the trapped Vinland Navy shoots out with a *SPLASH!* to the floor. Then another, and another.

One by one, the either air gasping or unconscious captives slide out due to Charybdis’ IceEye ability, and their friendly medic attends to the unresponsive in her unit.

Kicking up water as she hurries to her fellow Squad 40 member, Shelly stands to the side of Saku, counting the number of bodies that shoot out of the magical waterslide.

Shelly(thinking): *10...11..12...13*

Knowing from her clones memories, the young woman with an eidetic mind watches the last Vinland captive, the same man who tortured Katsu, pop out and the power of Charybdis’ ability is visibly weakening. Allowing water to once again start pouring into the medical room.

While tied up Willems is sitting up, choking on salt water, Shelly’s spring jumps off his sternum, making him spit up water, and she dives into the dark flooded room.

Having the availability of even less light, while holding her breath, with her SoulSeiõr preventing damage to Shelly’s eyes from the saltwater.

Unable to find anything in the near pitch dark, Shelly is surprised when a separate, caudal finned silhouette creates a swimming current the hypersensitive Valkyrie can feel.

Keeping her visuals on the mysterious figure, the original savior notices it manage to spot a shadow above, a noticable yellow aura, and like a torpedo the unknown being swims up to Shelly’s Takamagahara ally.

The dark hero used an arm to reach out and grab Charybdis as his yellow aura fades from his closing alien symbiote.

Outside the leaking portal, the captives who are still capable of comprehension help their weakened companions to Daisuki’s exit where Sol is also helping out.

Sol: "This way, everybody!

Hurry!"

Having regained his composure, and understanding the situation, a dripping Captain Whistler is aiding one of his soldiers out to her.

Looking back towards the chaos, the leader from the mainland notices the demoted soldier and rushes over to assist. 𝒇𝙧𝙚𝓮𝙬𝙚𝓫𝒏𝓸𝓿𝓮𝒍.𝓬𝙤𝓶

Captain Whistler: "You’re not dodging your accountability punishment that easily!"

With a sour expression on his face, the dishonored soldier is thrown over his superior’s shoulder and carried out to safety, but then dropped on the wet concrete.

Looking around, the man responsible for the men and women of his crew makes sure all bodies are accounted for.

Seeing his team medic successfully applying CPR to make a drowned ally cough up water.

Noticing three soldiers currently using the same technique on others, he rushes to the side of his combat medic who was separated from the rest of the Vinland group.

Whispering loud enough to be heard by her over the commotion, he squats beside his lower ranking soldier.

Captain Whistler: "They didn’t do anything to you, did they Corporal?"

Somewhat surprised by her leader’s concern despite the situation, the young woman shakes her head in confusion.

Vinland Medic: "N-No, sir..."

From the portal they escaped from, the shouts from Daisuki can be heard over the sound of rushing water.

Daisuki: "It’s starting to leak from the ceiling, we gotta go!"

Katsu sprints over to the portal, now spilling out water. He sees Shelly without their blue haired pal.

Behind her, carrying knocked out Charybdis over her shoulder, is Xaaydagaay, and the half orca/half human passes the young man through to the Izanagi Captain.

Katsu: "That’s everyone!

You guys gotta escape, now!"

Shelly easily hops through and is followed by the hybrid orca girl.

With his Anjell Eye still active, and before his mentor can deactivate their own worried purple aura releasing symbiote, the Head Hancho *POPs* out of existence.

Jumping through the shrinking exit, Saku gets halfway through the hole in the way before recalling a memory, that isn’t his.

*UNKNOWN FLASHBACK*

From the POV if someone resting their head on the lap of a woman in a waitress outfit, the setting around the two is of a small and dark diner bathroom. It is quiet in the tile floored, single toilet restroom excluding from the open window, the calls from crickets and frequent car stopping or passing through the changing traffic light.

The nodding off perspective of someone opens and closes, noticing a dragonfly landing on the open windowsill. The sweet voice of a woman lulls her son to sleep while on the public bathroom floor.

Woman’s Voice: "I told the new 1st shift line cook about your bullies, and she said we can both use her shower, Mina.

She has a little boy who is only a year younger than you, and he has different colored eyes.

Isn’t that neat?"

The young point of view nods, rubbing his ear against his mother’s lap pillow, and finally drifting off to the foreshadowing of his only caregiver.

Daisuki’s Mom: "So get some rest, and hopefully you can use it before going to school with him.

Maybe he’ll be friends with you."

*END FLASHBACK*

Anjell Eye active Saku trips over the closing portal. Preventing his foot from getting caught in the closing hole, Friend bites the collar of his master and pulls him back just in time.

Fresh off his unquestionably disturbing glance into his mentor’s personal life as a child, and Saku remembers the probable cause.

*POP*

Reappearing out of thin air, Daisuki looks around confused before understanding he is no longer in danger and deactivates his own IceEye.

Itsuka and Daisuki smile are both satisfied with the actions of their drenched and fast breathing Izanami Division Captain as he too returns his symbiote to the base-kit stage.
