Shut-In Of The 'Dead'
Chapter 139: The Attack Of The Gigantic Omega Zombie
A couple of days ago,
The Ice Wing Stronghold was known for its capability of hunting down Omega Zombies in their free time and harvesting the meteorite ores from them. This has given them an incredible reputation for dealing with Omega Zombies. Some shelters even request their assistance when an Omega Zombie shows up.
As the saying goes, confidence is the precursor to downfall, and that was what happened to the Ice Wing Stronghold.
Apparently, the Omega Zombie in question was the same zombie that Kazuichi’s group saw during their trip toward Yamanashi Prefecture. Kazuichi knew it was heading straight to the Ice Wing Stronghold, but he didn’t bother sending them a warning— after all, they were pretty good at dealing with Omega Zombies.
Furthermore, the Ice Wing Stronghold had already detected the Omega Zombie, but they totally underestimated its sheer size from a distance. It was only after they double-checked that they realized the gargantuan figure of the Omega Zombie.
It was twice as large as a normal Omega Zombie. Moreover, it moved much faster, which was insane since Omega Zombies were a tad bit slow compared to Aberrants.
This Omega Zombie could run, and it can move its body like a normal mindless zombie. It was by far the most threatening Omega Zombie the Ice Wing Stronghold had encountered.
As usual, a group of Hybrids went out to deal with the Omega Zombie, each equipped with their own grappling hooks and blades. They were going to deal with them ’Titan On Attack’ style, using their grappling hooks on its body while they hacked and slashed away at its skin.
A lot of Omega Zombies had been killed by the hands of this specialized group, and this Omega Zombie was no different— or so that’s what the group assumed as they charged forward.
So what if the Omega Zombie was faster? More nimble? In the end, it would die on their hands and they would harvest the meteorite ores on its body. In a way, the group was already counting the chicks before the eggs hatched.
With a steady thump on its steps, the gigantic Omega Zombie charged forward with a deafening roar— a scream that permeated the air and enveloped the entire Ice Wing Stronghold. It was an intimidating scream, but the group of specialized Hybrids didn’t flinch at all.
Fwip~! 𝙛𝒓𝒆𝙚𝒘𝒆𝓫𝙣𝓸𝙫𝓮𝒍.𝒄𝒐𝓶
One of the grappling hooks attacked itself on the Omega Zombie’s arm, and a Hybrid started retracting it, pulling himself forward. However, it’s as if the Omega Zombie already knew what was going on, and it flicked its arm as if it was swatting a fly.
The Hybrid flew sideways before he was flung to the far left side while his grappling hook came undone. Another Hybrid tried to do the same, but he met the same end.
"What’s this?" Levi asked, clicking his tongue (he was part of the group and he had met Kazuichi before). Without hesitation, he rushed forward and slid in the middle of the Omega Zombie’s legs. After doing so, he aimed his grappling hook at its back.
Fwip~!
This time, the Hybrid couldn’t just swat the connected grappling hook, nor could it reach it with its arms. In the end, Levi managed to pull himself upward, and he started repeatedly stabbing the back of the Omega Zombie.
Now that he was right on its back, Levi could finally fathom just how large the Omega Zombie was. He continued stabbing, but the Hybrid was unfazed. It’s as if it was dealing with a mosquito bite or something along those lines.
Seeing what the Hybrids were doing, the Omega Zombie looked around to see if it could get rid of them easily. After pausing for a couple of seconds, the Omega Zombie leaned backward, aiming to flatten all the Hybrids who were attached to its back.
"Fall back!" Levi screamed the moment he felt the Omega Zombie’s weight tip backward. "It’s going to squish us with its back!"
The rest of the group nodded their heads, and they removed the grappling hooks before they jumped to the side. However, one stupid member actually got Levi hooked the moment he let go of his grappling hook.
Just when Levi jumped sideways, his shirt got stuck to the dangling grappling hook, pulling him back and cutting off his momentum in an instant. Levi felt the tug, and he saw the ground come nearer as his life flashed before his very eyes.
His pupils dilated as he saw a glimpse of the other specialized Hybirds, looking at him while the gap between the Omege Zombie’s back and the ground narrowed in an instant.
Splat!
The total weight of the Omega Zombie pressed against Levi, turning him into a messy pile of meat as blood, bones, and muscles splattered on the ground. Although the group didn’t notice it, another member actually died. Two members of the group became a splatter of meat mass on the ground as the Omega Zombie got up once again.
"Levi!" The group unilaterally screamed as Levi died in a snap of a finger.
The moment the Omega Zombie got up, it let out some sort of an exhale before it started sprinting. Right now, it completely ignored the Hybrids who were attacking it. After all, wih how weak they were, the Omega Zombie didn’t see them as a threat anymore.
Thump.
Thump.
THUMP.
"STOP THAT OMEGA ZOMBIE!" One of the members screamed as they ran towards it.
They finally realized what the Omega Zombie’s aim was— to break into the Ice WIng Stronghold and destroy it.
But how could they stop a charging Omega Zombie? It was sentient enough to get rid of their grappling hooks, killing Levi and another member in the process.
BAM!
Horrified, the group watched as the Omega Zombie took a leap, launching itself in the air before it landed squarely on the fortified walls of the Ice Wing Stronghold. With how heavy the Omega Zombie was, it was impossible for the walls to resist its weight.
The Ice Wing Stronghold had been breached!
It was just the start of the attack, however. Before anyone could react, the Omega Zombie started screaming a shrill scream, as if it was calling to someone.
Unbeknownst to them, it was a call to his fellow infected. It didn’t take long before a horde of mindless zombies, Aberrants, and a couple of Omega Zombies appeared at the distance.
