Signing-In: The Lazy Moon Goddess
Chapter 809: Great General
With the sudden arrival of the great general of the Immortal Sun Empire, Yue Xuexia forgot her original plan of walking around the town to stock some food and go shopping. Riding on the cool black horse, Yue Xuexia closed her eyes ignoring the eyes that had fallen on them. This town is so small that it can barely be called a real town. However, maybe with some support from those in power, the road and houses in this town are well made and constructed. They also have their own stores and marketplace.
There are even some courtyards which are not too big yet made luxurious to accommodate some special guests or wealthy ones at least. Taiyang had brought Yue Xuexia in the largest courtyard at the corner of the town and based on its look it was recently made with a house plate, Snow Moon Courtyard. Clearly, this place was made for Yue Xuexia.
Taiyang said, "Xue’er, we are here!"
"Xueyue Courtyard?" Yue Xuexia murmured.
The Moon Goddess observed the house’s location, interior and exterior. The more she looks, the more satisfied she is.
She asked, "Is this courtyard for me?"
The Great General jumps off of the horse and helps Yue Xuexia down before answering her question.
"Yes. Shen Jueyang ordered it to be made. We don’t know how long you plan to stay in Outer Haven. This place was bought and constructed to your liking. If there is something you wish to change, tell me. I will prepare it for you," said Taiyang as he happily introduced the whole place to Yue Xuexia.
The Moon Goddess, who is satisfied with everything about the house, finally let the children out. She also summoned a few puppets and the daily necessities for the house.
"Alright, line up for me," Yue Xuexia said.
The children gathered in a vertical line and stared at the Moon Goddess waiting for her instructions. On the other hand, Taiyang was stunned. He didn’t expect that the little lotus collection of Yue Xuexia had increased this much. There is even a royal bloodline from the Moon Clan among the children.
"Xue’er, isn’t this the lost prince of the Moon Clan? I heard that the Death Valley kidnapped him," said Taiyang.
Yue Zhiya looked up and saw the appearance of Taiyang and immediately hid behind his brothers and said, "Aunt, who is this uncle?"
"He is Taiyang. You can call him Uncle Yangyang. He is Aunt’s little brother," said Yue Xuexia. "Yangyang, this little one is Yue Zhiya."
"Hello, Uncle Yangyang," said not only Yue Zhiya but also the other children.
Taiyang pats the head of the children and pulls a few candies from his space which is his snack and gives it to them.
"Alright go play. We will call you when it’s time to eat," said Taiyang.
The children run together in the garden. They even went to check on the mount of Taiyang who remained seated with its eyes closed as if pretending that it didn’t hear children. Though it let them ride on his back for fun. As for the puppets Yue Xuexia had brought out, most of them were made of talismans and their task was to bring in their things and clean the house.
As for Yue Xuexia and Taiyang, they both head to the kitchen. As the great general had said, most things were prepared in the mansion and the kitchen was full of things as well. Seeing the freshness of the meat and seafood as well as the ripeness of the vegetables and fruits, she nods her head. She pulled out two aprons, giving one to Taiyang.
Taiyang was used to helping Yue Xuexia with cooking. Well, he can do something basic like washing the vegetables, cutting and lighting the fire. He saw Yue Xuexia cooking a lot and most of it would end up in his stomach anyway so he happily helped Yue Xuexia. In the end, the sun had set and they finally finished cooking enough for a big group. When all the dishes were finished cooking, Taiyang commanded his subordinates to prepare a long table and help bring out the dishes.
It didn’t take long for the long and big table to be filled with various dishes from chicken, pork, beef, lamb to seafood, then desserts everything was prepared.
Yue Xuexia wiped her hands with the apron on her and called out to the children and the other guests.
"Everyone, it’s time to eat!"
The children come running with some soldiers being dragged by them. These might be some subordinate of Taiyang who was tasked to watch over the children. The moment they appeared before the Moon Goddess they greeted her the same way they do to their emperor.
"Your Majesty, the Empress!"
However, this title didn’t seem to fit Yue Xuexia and her eyes narrowed dangerously. Even though her face was hidden with a mask, the coldness within the depths of her eyes.
"I am not Yue Xuehua."
Silence~
The sudden tension and awkwardness made the soldiers under Taiyang nervous. They had forgotten that the current Moon Goddess is not the same Moon Empress they all remember. Even though they were both kind at heart and look gentle, the current Goddess is no longer easily bullied nor would ignore them in fear of offending them like the Moon Empress in their memories.
Though they heard the changes on the Moon Goddess reincarnation, they didn’t expect it to be this big. In an instant that gentle aura in her changed into something authoritative. It gave them the same feeling when meeting their emperor, Shen Jueyang.
Taiyang broke the silence and said, "Xue’er, let go eat. Don’t forget to remove your apron."
"Mama, let’s go eat!" The sentient Snow Lotus flower spirit, Yue Huaxue, said she held her master’s hand.
As expected before the children, the coldness within the Moon Goddess fades and she turns to her usual gentle demeanor.
"Alright," Yue Xuexia let herself be dragged away by Yue Huaxue.
Once the Moon Goddess and the children had gone ahead. The smile on the great general’s face disappeared. He looked at his subordinate coldly and said, "Receive your punishment after we leave the mansion."
"Yes, Lord General!"
The soldiers saluted and lowered their heads in remorse. Why have they forgotten the warning of their general at this point. They were warned not to treat the current Moon Goddess as the former Moon Empress. After all, they are two different people. In the end, they had still forgotten and things had gone worse.
During the dinner, Yue Xuexia had returned to normal. Usually devoid of emotions but when watching over the children a hint of dotingness appeared within that pair of eyes. After dinner, Taiyang had excused himself. After all, he only came here to eat Yue Xuexia’s cooking and give her this courtyard. He had also left a carriage in the open space of the courtyard which looks more lowkeyed than her carriage which was pulled by phoenixes. This one is pulled by three mutated horses. Of course, she wasn’t given a bicorn as this is a symbol of the Immortal Sun Empire’s main army.
The Immortal Sun Empire still had lots of enemies and Taiyang didn’t want to let these enemies target Yue Xuexia. Though it’s hard to find a fool who is willing to offend someone like Yue Xuexia who not only has a powerful family background and with the backing of the Immortal Sun Emperor himself.
Before they left, Yue Xuexia had packed Taiyang lots of food, enough for him to last for a month as long as he saved some. But thinking of his foodie personality, that stock might only last a few weeks and if Shen Jueyang joins, it would only last for days. That is no longer her problem. It’s the problem of two foodies with two bottomless pits for their stomachs.
"Take care on your way," said Yue Xuexia. "Tell him. If he needs help, find me."
"Okay. Go back inside. No need to see me out," said Taiyang with a grin.
Yue Xuexia nodded her head and went inside. The two puppet guards close the door for her. Only when the door was closed did the smile on Taiyang’s face disappear and his whole demeanor turned sharp and serious before walking away.
Once he reached the end of the road, he looked at the moon above his head. Tonight’s moon is full moon.
Taiyang said, "I heard that the Immortal Star Emperor is here as well. Erased our traces as well as Xue’er’s trail. Make sure he wouldn’t be able to find Xue’er."
Some people in the shadows had come out and kneel before Taiyang. These were some hidden guards whose main job was to handle the intelligence organization under the Immortal Sun Empire.
"But Lord General, that person came here because he heard that the Hidden Tang Sect is under her majesty. I doubt he would leave so easily unless she sees her."
"Are there any words from the Emperor?" Taiyang asked.
"His majesty said that for the General to make a move yourself if necessary."
Within those reddish irises of Taiyang, a glint of murderous intent had sparked. He said, "Very well. I will do it my own way."
