"A Shadow Cat, huh? They’re powerful, but are said to be rather temperamental and hard to deal with," Remarked Mira, the cat growling slightly as I reached over and patted his head.
"That’s just what cats are like, I don’t mind...now, then, what to call you? Oh, how about Raven?"
"<You would name me after a bird>?" The cat responded with an annoyed look on his face.
I mean, to be fair, it’s a pretty cool bird.
"Don’t like it? In that case, I’ll throw out a bunch of options, pick whatever you like. Void. Obsidian. Charcoal. Char. Coal. Pepper. Night. Onyx. Jet. Noir-...," I listed out.
"<That one, Onyx. I quite like the sound of that one>."
"Cool, Onyx it is, then. Happy to have you onboard," I smiled, scratching behind his ears.
So soft and fluffy.
"<Hmph, if you say so, Master>," He muttered, before I withdrew him into me.
That attitude...it’s exactly how I’d expect cats to be if they could speak! Well, most cats, anyway. I know some can be super clingy and sweet.
And just to be clear, I’m not complaining. In fact, I welcome the challenge, I’ll win him over sooner or later.
"Oh, by the way, what exactly can Sun Lizards and Shadow Cats do? I mean, I think I can make an educated guess based on their names, but no harm in finding out for certain," I remarked as I glanced at Mira.
"Sun Lizards can fire rays of concentrated heat. And they are especially dangerous on sunny days, since they can absorb sunlight through the scales on their back and fire their rays almost ceaselessly.
As for Shadow Cats, they possess immense speed and agility, as well as impressive biting power, but their main power lies in their ability to travel through shadows," She explained, as I nodded thoughtfully.
Rays of concentrated heat sound awesome, and that ability to travel through shadows is pretty sweet too. It sounds a bit similar to Petrus’s Shadow Magic, I’ll definitely be testing it out later.
Also, sunlight and shadow are sorta opposites, pretty cool that I’ve got two contrasting new abilities in my arsenal.
Alright, two more to go. Think I’ll summon both at once.
I picked up the two remaining scrolls and put a drop of blood on each of them, before running my Mana through them.
"First time I’m seeing someone summon two Spirits at once," Remarked Mira in bemusement, as two Magic circles appeared before me with an intense burst of Mana.
The scrolls burst into flames, the ashes falling onto the circles as the glows began to brighten intensely, before a pair of Spirits appeared before me as the Magic circles disappeared.
To the right, was another reptilian Spirit, this one four-legged. It had a slender body, with limber, agile legs, purplish-black scales, and six heads. Its feet were webbed, and, of course, its body was glowing.
And the other looked like a unicorn, a glowing white horse with a horn on the middle of its head. The horn had a multicolored, shimmering hue to it.
"No way," Muttered one of the others.
"A Hydra and a Unicorn...the former is considered to be in the tier of the most powerful Spirits in existence, and while the latter isn’t quite at that level, it’s exceedingly rare as well," Mira informed me.
"<It’sss a pleasssure to meet you, Massster>," The Hydra greeted me, all six of its heads speaking in unison.
Sounds male, he looks a lot different to the Hydras we fought. Other than the fact that he also has six heads, there’s pretty much nothing else in common, visually speaking.
"I’m guessing your abilities are poison-based?" I asked him.
"<Yesss, that’sss correct, Massster>."
"In that case, I’ll call you...Toxin, if that’s alright with you."
"<I gratefully acssept, Massster>."
"What about you? What can you do?" I asked the Unicorn with a smile.
"<I can travel tirelessly and at great speeds, both on land and through the air. Furthermore, my horn fires a beam that disrupts the Mana flow of its victims and causes disorientation in addition to temporarily depriving them of the ability to cast their Magic>," She answered, lowering her head as I walked over and patted her head.
"Through the air? You can fly?"
"<No, not exactly. It’s more like running across the air than flight>," She explained, before adding, "<My apologies if that disappoints you, Master>."
Interesting, all five of the Spirits I summoned are calling me Master, unlike Kai’s Apostles, who each address him differently.
"Oh, that’s not what I meant, you’ve got nothing to apologize for. Alright, as for your name...think I’ll call you Aurora," I decided, after a brief pause.
Her shimmering horn reminds me of that natural phenomenon...I mean, I’ve never seen it myself, but I have seen pics and videos, and I think it fits her well.
"<Understood, Master>," She replied, bending one of her front legs as she bowed her head.
So elegant and regal, what a gorgeous creature.
I withdrew Toxin and Aurora into me, stretching my arms up with a sense of satisfaction, having secured links with all five Spirits.
Cure, Star, Onyx, Toxin and Aurora, talk about a solid lineup, and they each have vastly different abilities to each other.
I wasn’t particularly thrilled when I first realized I’d been summoned to another world, but it certainly hasn’t been all bad, my versatility has gone up drastically.
I’d been feeling pretty burnt out in regards to my desire to fight after the final battle against the Demon Lord, but I have to say, this is reigniting my passion, I’m itching to test out my new abilities.
But first things first...I need to find the others and regroup, the sooner the better.
I doubt there’s any reason to worry about them, they’re each perfectly capable of taking care of themselves, but still, we can’t afford to take this world lightly, so the sooner we regroup and find a way to return to our world, the better.
