At this moment, the phone rang.

Evelyn’s heart suddenly began to beat faster. She immediately turned to look at the phone screen, and upon seeing the caller ID, the joy in her eyes instantly faded.

She was puzzled.

Why was Julian calling her at this hour?

Pressing the call button, Evelyn softly asked, "Is there something you need?"

"Has Cece contacted you? She left Atheria, and I can’t find her!" Julian’s voice was filled with urgency.

"What!" Evelyn exclaimed, her eyes widening in shock. "Cece left Atheria? How is that possible? What did you do to her?"

Evelyn couldn’t believe it.

During the time Cecilia had been apart from Julian, although there was longing, her life was still quite good.

Something must have happened for Cecilia to suddenly escape.

"I don’t have time to explain right now! Did Cece contact you at all? Does she have any other relatives or friends? Where could she have gone?" Julian asked anxiously.

Without waiting for Evelyn to reply, he continued, "I’m barely holding onto my reason to avoid going to Cece’s mother. If you don’t tell me, I won’t hesitate to find her."

"You can’t go to Auntie!" Evelyn yelled urgently.

She paused, then lowered her voice, "Julian, if you have any humanity left, don’t go to Auntie. If Cece finds out, she will hate you!"

Julian was infuriated.

He knew he couldn’t go to Cecilia’s mother, so he was just wandering the streets, like a headless fly, lost and powerless.

"You know where she is, don’t you?" Julian questioned fiercely, "Cece left her mother here and needs someone to take care of her. She surely asked you, didn’t she?"

Evelyn was also angry.

Cecilia had been living well in Atheria, yet she chose to escape because of Julian, leaving her home. The one most upset was definitely her!

"Evelyn, if you don’t tell me, I will torment you bit by bit until you’re willing to reveal her whereabouts!" Julian’s tone was full of threats, with a reckless arrogance inviting consequences.

"She truly hasn’t contacted me!" Evelyn gritted her teeth with hatred, "I haven’t even confronted you about it yet! Cece is striving to live a positive life, and what did you do to her? Haven’t you caused her enough harm?"

"I want to give her a status, to marry her as my wife, and in the end, she ran away!" Julian roared.

His heart clenched painfully, and he lowered his voice, almost begging, "Evelyn, tell me where Cece is. As her best friend, you must know. She loves me, staying by my side is the only way she’ll be happy."

Listening to Julian’s words, Evelyn felt a bit dazed.

After several seconds of processing, she gradually regained her senses.

"She really didn’t contact me. She knows once she disappears, you’ll definitely come looking for me, so how could she tell me where she is?" Evelyn choked as she spoke.

Listening to Evelyn’s words, the last glimmer of light in Julian’s eyes faded away, like a bucket of cold water poured over him, his heart unwilling to beat any longer.

"Julian, you truly are a bastard!" Evelyn’s voice was filled with hatred, "Why do you get to decide whether or not to be with Cece? The moment she resolved to break up with you, it showed she had no more illusions about you. Yet you still try to disrupt her life!"

"..."

"Give her back to me." Evelyn enunciated each word, "You don’t deserve to love her, nor do you deserve to find her!"

With that, Evelyn hung up the phone.

Not idle for a moment, Evelyn immediately called Cecilia, but no one answered.

A while later, a text message appeared on her phone from Cecilia.

"Evelyn, live your own life well. I’m doing fine, don’t worry about me."
