Chapter 401: Asher’s Demand

Jason’s POV

In the coming days, Eira was shifted to another room on the first floor, prepared especially for her and the baby.

Her parents came to visit her and their granddaughter. Evan had to stay back to manage pack matters in his father’s absence.

"My beautiful granddaughter," Iris said as she held Kaya, completely taken by her. "How I wish I could hold you like this forever."

"In that case, I won’t get a chance to hold her," Gerald commented, amused by his wife.

The joy of becoming grandparents was evident on their faces.

Iris finally handed Kaya to Gerald and asked, "Eva looked the same when she was a baby, didn’t she?"

Gerald nodded. "It feels like I am holding Eva once again."

Eira watched them, a quiet smile resting on her lips.

They spent time together while we gave them privacy. After a while, leaving Iris with Eira, Alpha Gerald came downstairs to speak with us.

We discussed the protection of our children and whether to announce Kaya’s birth to the pack.

"If we announce it to the pack, the entire werewolf world will know about Kaya," Roman said. "Another pureblood shewolf, born from a pureblood shewolf and a top-tier Alpha."

"And knowing Eira carries royal blood, the purest blood, it will bring even more attention to her daughter," Lucian added.

Gerald nodded. "I failed once. I am sure you won’t fail this time. And now, Evan and I are here as well. As per my information, Asher is lying low and focusing on recovery. Keep watch on the others."

Kael nodded. "That bastard already knows a child has been born in our home."

"At the council, that witch must have sensed Eira’s pregnancy and figured out the timing," Gerald said. "She is dangerous. Careful. My people still haven’t found her."

"We’re trying as well, but no success yet," Lucian added.

Gerald turned to Kael. "You need to decide carefully whether to reveal Kaya’s existence."

"I will," Kael replied. "There is no point hiding it. The most dangerous bastard already knows. It’s time Eira takes her place in the pack with the rights she holds."

With that decision, Kael announced Kaya’s birth on the pack’s official platform.

The entire pack rejoiced, though they were saddened they couldn’t see their Luna or the children. Kael assured them that pictures would be shared soon.

A month passed.

The family celebrated Kaya’s one-month anniversary, capturing many moments together. Kael used that opportunity to share family pictures. Five Alphas, their mate and two kids.

Blessings and praise poured in.

Due to security concerns, there was no public appearance, but gifts flooded the Alpha’s residence. Most of them were donated, as keeping everything was not practical.

Everything seemed peaceful. Until one night when Kael called us to his study while Eira and the children slept. We gathered in the lounge area.

"That bastard Asher called today," Kael informed.

Shock and anger spread instantly.

"What did that asshole say? Tired of living?" Lucian snapped.

"He proposed a deal," Kael said, his voice calm but his eyes burning.

"What kind of deal?" I asked.

Kael’s fists tightened in controlling his anger, as he said, "In exchange for peace between both packs and putting an end to the enmity between us, he asked for our kids’ blood, a fixed quantity every month."

"The fuck!" Lucian slammed his hand against the couch handrest as if to split it into two and stood up. "I’ll drain him dry before that happens. I’m done holding back already from entering his pack and kill him."

"Count me in," Rafe added.

Kael remained composed despite the anger. He never wanted us to be reckless despite how much anger we felt. The enemy wasn’t fool or weak. They must be already waiting for someone among us to lose mind and go to them, so they could have more leverage against us.

"Calm down," I said, placing a hand on Lucian’s shoulder. "If acting on impulse was the solution, Kael would have already been there returning with his chopped head. But ee have people to protect."

Lucian exhaled sharply and sat down again.

"What did you tell him?" Rafe asked, his red eyes darkening as if he couldn’t wait to create some trouble.

"That he should come here and get it," Kael replied.

That bastard won’t dare show up. That would be his death for sure.

"If he’s offering peace, it means he knows he can’t defeat us," Roman said. "That council fight taught him enough."

"Or he’s desperate to get blood," Rafe added, his brows knitting together as if he was thinking deeply. "Someone might die without blood. That vampire of his needs it."

"And that vampire must be important enough for him to risk everything," Kael said, meeting Rafe’s gaze. "That’s his weakness. The vampire."

"Is this the matter of love? People can go insane to commit crime and cross the limits only for one reason. Is he keeping a vampiress in his bed?" Lucian asked, "Or it’s impossible to imagine that bastard even care for someone."

"And they specifically need Eira’s child’s blood," I said, recalling what I knew. "Not just any pureblood. That means something is seriously wrong with that vampire." 𝑓𝓇𝘦ℯ𝘸𝘦𝑏𝓃𝑜𝘷ℯ𝑙.𝑐𝑜𝓂

"We need to know who it is," Lucian said. "I’ll send people in even if it means for them to die to get it."

"No need," Rafe said. "We already have someone who knows."

We all understood.

Raven.

"He’s too scared of that vampire it seems," Roman said. "And he doesn’t speak at that."

"He doesn’t speak, but he responds," I said. "We just need the right questions."

Rafe looked at Kael.

"Go ahead," Kael said. "But don’t force him."

"I won’t," Rafe replied and stood up.

"Where are you going?" Lucian asked.

"Relax," Rafe said. "I’m not leaving. Just preparing to loosen up our little guy so he can answer me."

And with that, he walked out. No one stopped him.

He would do what he wanted anyway.
