Solving Middle Age Crisis by Intelligence System
Chapter 749 - 486: Head-to-Head Confrontation
Upon receiving Harris’s plea for help, Qi Yun immediately called Fu Wentao and explained the situation.
Fu Wentao remained silent for two seconds and asked, "Is this person very important to you?"
After all, he’s a businessman who always considers whether it’s worth it before making any decision.
If it’s simply a matter of firing two shots and killing someone, it’s easy to settle;
But this is Washington, and the target is FBI agents, and damn, there’s been an explosion.
This is definitely not a small matter.
"Yes," Qi Yun answered firmly to Fu Wentao’s question, "He’s my friend. Without him, I can’t accomplish many things."
With a definite answer, Fu Wentao said without any unnecessary words, "Location."
Qi Yun immediately relayed Harris’s shared real-time location and general situation.
"Got it." Fu Wentao’s tone was steady, "Let that guy run towards less populated areas, avoid civilian casualties, buy some time, and wait for my news."
The call ended.
Qi Yun took a deep breath and immediately called Harris back: "Harris! Listen, I need you to delay as much time as possible! We’re trying to find a way to save you!"
Meanwhile, on the streets of Washington, Harris and the others were frantically escaping, with the sirens chasing them like harbingers of death.
Harris clutched the phone and shouted, "Delay time? Qi! They’re about to turn me into a sieve!"
Just as he finished speaking, a rumbling sound came from above, and then a super-bright spotlight shone down from the sky, locking onto the fleeing cyber van.
Harris peeked out, despair etched on his face, "Oh shit! They’ve deployed a helicopter!"
Using a helicopter for pursuit over Washington skies showed how much attention they were paying to him.
The ground roads were blocked, the air was being monitored, and they were like sitting ducks.
"Swish swish swish—!"
A row of bullets rained down from the sky, sweeping along the car’s front and bursting into a series of sparks.
These were light machine guns equipped on the helicopter!
"Surrender immediately, occupants of the car!" warned the helicopter’s loudspeaker.
The driver hurriedly slammed the brakes, reducing the speed.
They weren’t joking!
These were machine guns; ignoring the warning could result in the car being turned into a heap of scrap metal.
"Boss, what do we do?!" the driver turned to Harris for advice.
Harris looked at the rapidly encircling police cars outside and the helicopter hovering above, knowing there was no way out this time.
"Qi, I can’t get away, you must find a way to save me! I can’t stand the thought of prison with my still tender behind..." he pleaded desperately.
The receiver brought a sigh from Qi Yun: "Hold on, brother, I will get you out."
The cyber van stopped by the roadside at Harris’s signal, and heavily armed agents swiftly surrounded them.
"Hands on your heads! Get out of the car slowly!"
Harris and the two others obeyed, were roughly pushed to the ground, handcuffed, and savagely beaten with fists and kicks.
It seemed that the FBI guys thought he was a big fish, which is why they repeatedly sought to capture him alive.
If it were just ordinary characters, based on his dark complexion alone, they would have unloaded a magazine on him long ago.
Harris gritted his teeth from the pain of his wounds, but dared not act out further, merely enduring it with clenched teeth.
After the brutal beating, the three were separately stuffed into several police cars, rushing towards the FBI headquarters in Washington.
....
Simultaneously, in the hotel, Fu Wentao was still on the phone negotiating.
And on the other end of the call was Stephen, the newly established cooperation partner and vice minister of the Defense Ministry.
"Yes, that’s the situation, I believe it’s purely a misunderstanding."
"To prevent escalation and affect our cooperative relationship, perhaps you should pay more attention."
The other end, Stephen, remained silent for a few seconds, his voice slightly deep, "Mr. Fu, you should know our Defense Ministry has limited influence on the FBI. Even I have no authority to directly intervene in their investigation."
"Of course, Stephen, I fully understand."
Fu Wentao’s tone was calm, lacking any aggressiveness, "I have an idea that doesn’t require you to intervene in their investigation but can resolve this misunderstanding."
"Oh? Please tell, Mr. Fu."
"If I remember correctly, doesn’t your Defense Ministry have a department called the Defense Intelligence Agency? I think you could find an excuse to bring the person over."
"Communicate a bit with the Justice Department; I believe they’ll give you this face."
This was the solution Fu Wentao offered.
The FBI belongs to the United States Justice Department and is not like the CIA, which operates as an independent law enforcement agency. Though they have domestic law enforcement priority, they are often subject to external influence; such incidents are not uncommon.
Upon hearing this, Stephen quickly weighed the pros and cons in his mind and finally agreed, "Okay, I’ll arrange it right away."
Fu Wentao smiled with satisfaction, "Great, then thank you, Minister Stephen."
In the Pentagon, inside the Defense Ministry office, Stephen hung up and immediately called his assistant.
"There was a shooting incident just now in Caver Langston Community; have the DIA go to FBI headquarters and bring back the people they just captured."
The assistant froze for a moment, a look of confusion crossing his face, hesitantly saying, "Sir... I’m afraid this isn’t in line with protocol?"
The Defense Intelligence Agency primarily handles foreign military intelligence, completely separate from the FBI’s domestic law enforcement; asking them to intervene in a Washington street shooting case?
