Spiral of Madness: Ascension of the Villainous Dragon Prince
Chapter 281: Our Happily Ever After
-----
Louis slowly opened his eyes.
"Ah!"
He gasped in disbelief and coughed, his gaze darting around the room. He was somewhere familiar.
"What?"
He was back home. This was his room.
And it was no dream. He tested his powers at once. They were weaker than before, but they remained.
"I have lost it... the Heart of Time."
He gasped again, coughed, and drank some water. With a sigh, he realized his throat had simply been dry.
"The source of my regression is gone. I can no longer regress if I die. But where am I? Is this really... my home?"
Louis walked to the glass window and looked out at the Kingdom of Frostbane. Vast grasslands now stretched where wasteland had once dominated. A bright blue sky arched overhead, and the sun shone warmly.
Floating islands drifted in the distance, and the city had grown three times larger.
"Is this... It is not the Realm. It is Earth!"
He rushed outside, excitement surging through him, and found Catrise, his maid, along with the rest of the household.
"My lord! Y-You are awake!"
"You are awake!!!"
"Everyone, he has awakened!"
"Call the Queen! The King! Lady Mirai! Everyone!"
Louis stood frozen in disbelief as he saw his servants. Then he ran to them, hugging each one tightly, tears filling his eyes.
"I am so glad you are all alive!" he cried, tears of joy and regret streaming down his face.
"Lord Louis..." Catrise murmured. "Of course we are. You saved us!"
"I... I did?" Louis was stunned. A smile broke across his face. "I suppose I did. Wait! Catrise, where is Mirai?! Is she alive?"
"She is," Catrise said with a nod. "Why don’t we go see her?"
Louis hurried through the castle, greeting familiar faces and embracing everyone he met. When he found the members of House Frostbane, he pulled them into joyful hugs.
"Lord Louis?!" Timothy gasped.
"Timothy!" Louis cried, hugging him tightly and kissing his forehead.
"I’m glad you’re alive, but don’t kiss me, ew!" Timothy protested.
"Lord Louis!" Zorba exclaimed, tears in his eyes as Louis embraced him and kissed the top of his head.
"Zorba! You are alive! I am so happy, my brother," Louis said.
"Yes, we made it!" Zorba replied. "But you have been in a coma for ten years...!"
"T-Ten years?!" Louis asked, stunned.
"Lord Louis! You are awake— Gyaaa!" Agustina cried in embarrassment as Louis lifted her small frame into a hug. "My lord!"
"I am so happy to see you too!"
Anastasia, Melisa, Selene—everyone received warm hugs and greetings far more openly than Louis would have given before. He had changed completely.
After everything he had endured, he was simply grateful they were all here—the people he loved most.
"Son?"
"Son!"
When he reached the throne room, his parents rushed to him with open arms.
As they hugged and kissed him, they explained what had happened since Oblivion’s defeat.
"It was shocking, but our entire cosmos transformed and was reborn," Benladra said. "It has become a Fantasy Universe... or something like that, according to your father."
"Oblivion is completely gone," Gustaf sighed in relief. "His presence was erased from time itself when the Heart of Time exploded."
"Right now, all worlds have been separated once more, yet permanent bridges now connect them," Benladra continued. "We are linked within this cosmos, no longer divided by dimensional membranes."
"What happened to Earth?" Louis asked. "To the Dimensional Labyrinth? The Entities? The Grievances?"
"They are gone," Benladra said with a gentle smile.
"Earth was saved, as you can see. It has been growing and evolving into a Fantasy World," Gustaf added. "It now floats above a vast cosmic expanse, not far from Yggdrasil."
"And the wastelands? The people who were dying?" Louis asked. "Everything? Isn’t Fantasium toxic?"
"Not anymore," Benladra replied. "Thanks to the birth of this new Fantasy Cosmos, the world has accepted fantasy into its very fabric. People have evolved to adapt. No one dies from Fantasium sickness anymore."
Louis let out a heavy sigh of relief. "That... that is an immense relief. Thank god... thank god..."
"We have been so sad waiting for you to wake up," Gustaf said. "Mirai woke up two years ago and has been heartbroken ever since. You must go see her!"
"Where is she?!" Louis asked urgently.
"Outside. She went to the park with her new friends," Benladra told him.
"New friends?" Louis asked.
"Demons," Gustaf said. "Many people have moved to the kingdom. She has connected well with some of them."
"I see..." Louis nodded. "I will go see her."
Louis ran.
He ran downstairs and through the city streets.
People greeted him in awe, shouting his name and celebrating his return, but he had no time to stop. He waved as he sprinted toward the plaza.
"Mirai! MIRAI!!!"
Mirai was sitting in the plaza, chatting with her two new demon friends—two girls in high school uniforms. One was a dark-haired, gloomy girl. The other was a bright, energetic, red-skinned demon who seemed slightly tomboyish.
"Mirai, wanna come to Spiritias later?"
"There’s a Demon School there!"
"I heard that the Archdemons that surrendered are now working as teachers, turning on a new leaf!"
"Um, I’ll think about it... I’m still waiting for someone."
"For who?"
"Wait, him?"
"Yeah... him—"
"Mirai!"
"...!!!"
At that moment, Mirai stood up in shock, staring into the distance as Louis ran toward her.
She stood paralyzed, tears streaming down her face.
"L-Louis? LOUIS!"
Mirai ran to him. They collided in a tight embrace as she cried with pure joy, unable to believe he had finally returned.
"I’m back, Mirai. I’m sorry for not being there..."
"I’m so happy you’re back! Louis! My Louis!"
Mirai clung to him, tears flowing endlessly.
After so long.
After so many transmigrations and so much suffering.
They were finally together again.
They held each other’s hands and kissed.
"Mirai..." Louis whispered. "I love you. Let’s get married!"
"E-Eh?!" Mirai gasped. "W-Wait! I’m not ready yet!"
"Not ready?" Louis asked, surprised.
"I need to get ready! Do my makeup, find a dress..." she muttered.
"Hahaha!" Louis laughed warmly. "I know, not right now! I mean in the coming days, weeks, or months. Let’s plan our wedding. I want to marry you."
Mirai blushed deeply, then smiled brightly and kissed him. "Of course!"
As they walked back to the castle hand in hand, Mirai waved to her speechless demon friends, who could hardly believe their friend had a prince charming for a boyfriend.
Time passed quickly. Two months later, after careful preparations, Mirai and Louis’s wedding arrived. Families and friends from across the worlds gathered. Benladra, as head of the church, officiated the ceremony.
"And you, Mirai, do you wish to remain forever with Louis in sickness and in health, until death do you part?" Benladra asked.
"Yes, I do!"
"And my son Louis, do you...?"
"Yes, I do!"
Louis didn’t even let his mother finish. He kissed Mirai deeply, making her panic for a brief second before she melted into it.
The crowd erupted in cheers and happy tears.
"OOOOHHHHH!"
Gustaf cried while wiping his snout and eyes. The Dragon King Drake and the Summoner King Blake nodded approvingly as Louis and Mirai walked toward the celebration.
Bright flowers fluttered through the air while people laughed, drank, and conversed, no longer burdened by a hopeless future.
A world rewritten, with fantasy now woven into its very core.
Later that night, Louis and Mirai stood on the balcony of their room, holding hands beneath the moonlight.
"I want a baby," Mirai declared.
"Eh?" Louis blinked in surprise, then smiled. "Well, alright then. Hahaha. We’ll have one eventually, no need to hurry—"
"Let’s start tonight!" Mirai said, grabbing his hand and pulling him toward the bed.
"Wait, tonight?!" Louis gasped.
As the two lovers enjoyed their honeymoon, the stars twinkled beautifully overhead, shining upon a world finally at peace.
But... for how long?
For now, they would savor the new ending they had fought so hard to write—their well-deserved happily ever after.
THE END.

Author’s Note:
Hello for the few that even bothered to read this novel until the end, thank you for your support. I am very tired after having written the ending and then editing everything, so this will be short.
The novel wasn’t resonating too much with me so far, and I didn’t want it to continue for too long either, there was also almost zero support, only like 4 people were reading it, so that made me feel even less motivated to make it a long story.
I think I made a good ending, as rushed as it is.
I am working on a sequel where the protagonist is Louis and Mirai’s daughter, called Elizabeth. The novel will likely be named "My Laid-Back Life as a Max Level Dragon Princess". Generic, yeah, but that’s what brings the clicks to this brain-rotted market.
Thank you anyway and see you in the next story!
