Chapter 21: A Total Beatdown

Notice of Violence!

This Chapter might be very violent to some or even most. No one dies in this Chapter, but the violence might be very graphic. Maybe it’s just my imagination, but you gotta be prepared. I’m just tryna establish an MC who doesn’t accept nonsense.

"STOP THIS RIGHT NOW!" Mr. Jerry shouted, his voice sounding distant and useless, drowned under the raw violence unfolding. He was one of the teachers who had ignored Silas’s earlier bullying. It seemed like someone had informed him of what was happening.

Damien tried fighting back. His hand twitched as he activated his ability. He managed to grab hold of a chair and a bunch of forks and sent them Silas’s way with speed and force. Mr. Jerry smiled, thinking that it was over. Even if Silas died, they would just place it under self-defense. But he had laughed quickly, because Silas wasn’t as helpless as he thought.

Silas’s hand shot and grabbed the chair mid-air. His smile widened even more as he turned and smacked the rain of forks away. Damien saw it as an opportunity and tried to make a run for it, but Silas had predicted it. He turned the chair, pulled his hand back, and slammed it into Damien’s back.

Damien screamed, or at least tried to, but the pain was too much, and it only came out in silent gasps. Whatever confidence he had earlier was shattered under the sheer, overwhelming force Silas brought down on him.

This wasn’t a fight. It was a total beatdown! And that was when people realized the grave and harsh truth. Silas was hated for being an unawakened when there were other unawakened in the academy. People hated him because he was more handsome. Some hated him because he had naturally pink hair, not some dyed one from some cheap cosmetic.

The truth they realized was that they didn’t really know why or how they came to hate him. It was as if they had been brainwashed to hate him. It was very suspicious.

Some had even been made to believe that he was powerless against an awakened since the only people he ever beat up were unawakened, but now, looking at what was happening, they didn’t know what to believe anymore. Silas was literally thrashing one of the so-called talented people in the whole academy as an unawakened.

Grabbing Damien by the neck, he dragged him across the tiled floor of the cafeteria, blood painting the floor towards one leg of a broken chair. He placed Damien’s chin on it and looked at him darkly.

"I learnt that awakened are very tenacious. Don’t die now, okay?" Silas said, causing everyone to suck in cold air. Even the teacher, Mr. Jerry, who was frozen in shock from what was happening, felt chills down his spine. He tried to move to stop him as everyone had realized what he was going to do.

Silas was truly gone now. He was fed up with all the hurt and hate he was getting for no reason. He was fed up with all the shit people were giving. He was fed up with people judging him with their eyes and mouths for just existing.

Pinky this, Pinky that. Let him catch a break! The only bad thing he ever did in the academy was existing. So what if he was expelled? Damien would be scapegoated. He was done with taking nonsense. If persuasion fails, use force. He had silently endured all the shit, and they wouldn’t leave him alone. Now, they will all witness the consequences of provoking him beyond limits.

"Don’t be afraid, Damien. I will be gentle..." Silas whispered into the now weakened Damien’s ear, making him shiver visibly.

"Silas! I’m warni-"

BANG!

A cry of pain echoed in the cafeteria as blood and teeth scattered all over the floor. Silas’s foot could be seen planted on Damien’s neck. The chair leg had split in two, and Damien had gone unconscious after that cry.

Silas didn’t say anything after that. He just turned and headed out. His steps weren’t hurried at all, but no one, not even the teacher, tried to stop him. They had just witnessed him beat Damien, one of the proclaimed strongest in the academy, as if he were some little kid. No one wanted to experience that. If earlier they feared Silas with disgust mixed, then they truly feared him now. But, unknowingly, Silas had also earned the admiration of a lot of them. After witnessing this, they had understood the source of their senseless hate and realized they were in the wrong from the beginning.

No one whispered now. No one even dared look at him directly for more than a second. The moment he left the cafeteria, chaos erupted. Mr. Jerry yelled for help, gathering a group of healers to give Damien first aid as he was losing a lot of blood. He couldn’t even start to wonder how a human could hurt a strong awakened as Damien that badly. Only if he knew... Silas was nothing normal.

This was all irrelevant to the current Silas. 𝘧𝓇ℯℯ𝑤ℯ𝘣𝓃ℴ𝓋𝑒𝑙.𝑐𝘰𝑚

He had just stepped out of the cafeteria, only to see someone waiting for him outside. The person was leaning slightly against the wall, as if he had been there for a while, listening. Mr. Hermod. He was the second teacher who had watched Silas get bullied and did nothing to stop it. He straightened as Silas approached, pushing himself off the wall with a slow, almost lazy movement. His face carried amusement, a disgusting kind of amusement.

A thin, unpleasant smile stretched across his lips as his eyes scanned Silas from head to toe, lingering for just a second too long.

"Well," he said, his voice smooth and laced with something sharp underneath. "That was... entertaining."

Silas stopped in front of him with no expression on his face. Mr. Hermod tilted his head slightly, as if inspecting something distasteful.

"You know," he continued, "for someone who smells like a garbage dump, you certainly made quite the sce-"

BOOM!

The loud sound made people rush out of the cafeteria, just in time to see Mr. Hermod lying in a small crater with a bloody nose while Silas stood over him with a smoking fist.

"You will get expelled!" he screamed hysterically, expecting some kind of frightened reaction from Silas, but all he got was a cold answer.

"Better than staying in this shithole of an academy."

"You!"

"Check your nose. You might lose oxygen."

Silas turned to go, when he came face-to-face with his new friend, Chloe.

"Silas..."

"I’m sorry, Chloe. This might be our last time talking. Take care."

With that, he left the place, leaving a shocked crowd and a worried Chloe.
