SSS Awakening: I Can Steal Attributes
Chapter 117: Meeting Lexie
The Ravenous Lizard that tried to sneak up on Desther was sliced into two by a figure of a woman in midair.
Desther stared at the scene in silence as the figure in midair landed a few meters away.
Wearing battle-worn armor and holding a dull sword with a few nicks on its blade, Lexie turned toward Desther with a simple nod.
Her body blurred into air once again, arriving in front of a Ravenous Lizard and slicing it in half with great precision.
The sword was strangely sharp even though its blade was already dull and already had a few nicks.
Desther swatted and killed a Ravenous Lizard as he observed Lexie’s action.
To be honest, he did not expect to meet her here of all people.
From what he could recall, she and the other girls from their class went in a different direction when the activity started.
Looking at her and the way she handles the Ravenous Lizard, Desther could tell that she was even stronger than before.
From his rough estimate, her level should be around Level 10 as of this moment or might have already reached Tier 1.
Recalling her nod and her action earlier, Lexie might have thought that they were in danger because of the number of Ravenous Lizards around and decided to help.
Desther looked over at Noah and noticed that he was having trouble facing eight Ravenous Lizards all at once.
He used Magic Bullet and killed one of them instantly, lightening Noah’s load.
Meanwhile, Desther shifted his attention back to Lexie and could not help but try to observe her movements.
Unlike before, where her movements seemed like a blur to him, Desther could actually now keep up with her insane speed.
She was extremely swift and agile and used her dull sword with great precision.
From the looks of it, she was also relying on the force and momentum of her speed to make it seem like she was holding a sharp sword, allowing it to cut into the flesh and bones of the Ravenous Lizards without fail.
For each step and each slash she took, a Ravenous Lizard would be killed without mercy.
She was strong.
At least, a few times stronger than Noah and even Arthur, whom he met a few hours earlier.
With Lexie lending a hand, the number of Ravenous Lizards started to dwindle.
Desther was not idle and has been constantly casting his Theft Mark to get the Skill Fragments of the Ravenous Lizards.
From time to time, he would receive experience points from them as well. Though the amount was negligible, he still welcomed it, as it was better than nothing.
By the time the surroundings settled down, Desther realized that he had already reached 79 Skill Fragments for the Ravenous Lizard. He was only lacking 21 points before he could gain one of their skills.
On the other hand, he received a total of 8% experience points from all the Ravenous Lizards they had killed.
Looking around, Desther saw that Noah was already sprawling to the ground in exhaustion but was actually smiling silly as he stared at the dimming sky.
He had fought and killed multiple Ravenous Lizards alone. He should be proud of such an achievement.
Meanwhile, Desther turned his head toward Lexie and noticed that she was coming over.
"Are you alright?" She asked upon seeing the numerous dead bodies of Ravenous Lizards around Desther.
Desther nodded his head and observed her intently.
"You don’t seem to be alright to me," he said, upon noticing her current getup.
The battle-worn armor and dull sword were already a clear indication that she had faced her own fair share of fights during the past few days as well.
Not only that, he even saw bruises and some injuries around her arms and legs, allowing him to know that it had not been easy on her either.
"Encountered a tough foe. Just a few bruises. They’ll heal in time," she answered without showing any emotion toward her wounds.
"Anyway, what’s up with these Ravenous Lizards and this strange smell here?" She asked the question she had been wondering since earlier.
Desther explained the situation to her. He told her the truth regarding the smell as well as the ’farm’ that they had set up to harvest points.
Hearing that, she could not help but nod in approval.
’Why didn’t I think of that?’
She thought that the idea might seem simple but was actually a genius plan for their activity.
Although she knew of the habits of Ravenous Lizards, she had not thought of exploiting them like this at all.
It was then that she realized something.
"So... Do you mean that my help was actually unnecessary?"
Since Desther and Noah had purposely set up this farm, it could be assumed that they were aware of how many Ravenous Lizards there were and still decided to fight them.
Desther shrugged his shoulders, not denying her assumptions.
"You could say that. Still, I appreciate the gesture."
He then asked, "How did you manage to come here anyway? Didn’t you and the others go in another direction a few days prior?"
"I was only escorting them to a particular location. After that, I headed straight into the valley, as I know for a fact that there are a lot of monsters for me to hunt there."
She said without hiding anything.
’So she has been solo hunting in the valley since the start of the activity?’
Desther nodded his head and did not ask any more questions as he had already asked a lot.
"And as you can see, my sword and armor are already pretty worn out and need to be changed. Hence, I decided to return to the main base and get some new supplies and items," she said while showing him her dull sword.
’Well, that answers why she’s here.’
From the looks of it, it was only a coincidence that she was here at this particular moment.
Recalling something, Desther decided to ask a question one last time.
"By the way, that big wound underneath that armor. What kind of monster did that to you? "
