Many of the top students had gathered around the circular ball.

The entire city could feel the reverberations from each of those blows that came from within the black sphere.

They had zero idea who was the one fighting against the Magzilla, or whether it was the creature itself delivering those punches, but all of a sudden, it came to a freezing stop as the black ball began to disperse.

All eyes peered forward and there, they found a scene that chilled their hearts.

It was gone.

The creature’s entire head, along with its neck, had been completely squashed in, sending blood spurting out into the gigantic abyss beneath it.

As for who was the one responsible for leaving it in such a state, there was nobody.

"Did he die along with it?"

Some of the students mused in confusion, but the most powerful of them had their attention on something else.

"There’s a student amongst us that can take on a Deltadoid Supernal!?"

[Congratulations on Completing the Quest: Take Down Magzilla.]

[Rewards:

+10 Ability Upgrade Cards!]

The system panel flashed as White sat on the balcony of a building.

He had taken off his shirt, which was half-burned anyway, to try and wrap it around his hands.

His hands were completely broken, his bones visible, and his wrists were burning red from the flames of the creature.

This was the thing about Deltadoid creatures. You don’t just fight them and go have a good day. They’ll do you so much damage that the only difference after the fight will be that it’s dead while you’re alive.

"Do I have a level up card?"

He asked.

[Unfortunately no. You used up everything the last time and forgot to keep one.]

The system panel flashed as he clicked his tongue.

"Guess my arms are useless for now."

SCREEECH!

A screech rang out from behind him as a dog-like creature, but with five worms for heads, raced toward him from behind.

White didn’t stare, his two wings ripping out of his back before returning back in just as fast.

The creature that had pounced in the air divided into seven pieces, its sliced body falling onto the ground with a squishy thump.

"I can still fight with my wings."

White mused, and in the next moment, his senses spread outwards.

He could easily find about eleven Supernatural creatures around him and in the next moment, he jumped down the balcony, becoming a gust of breeze that gushed away into the distance.

TAP!

TAP!

TAP!

TAP!

The sound of button tapping rang out, and right after—

GRUUUUUUUM!

The vault door opened and a figure stepped in.

It was none other than White, whose hands reached to the side immediately, locking a blade in the gaps of his bandaged fingers.

"Oh... It’s you."

Zisel’s frightened yet composed voice echoed out as she took back the knife.

"You don’t look good."

She mused, looking at White.

He appeared fully worn out, scars and claw marks all over.

There was not much blood, and his hair was wet, revealing he must have taken a bath somehow.

The world was blurring to White, who felt his gaze spinning a bit.

"My recovery rate is monstrous... trust me, I’ll be good as new in the morning."

He said, moving to a corner of the vault and slipping down the wall until eventually he fell on his back.

"Hey system,"

White called out and it flashed.

[Quest Pending:

Supernal Count: 230/509]

’230 huh? Not a bad number...’

White said with a grin which remained covered by the hands that blocked his face.

He had gone all out trying to complete the quest and on the first day was able to take down close to half.

If he kept this up, he might just be able to complete the quest, though whether he could really keep it up with his current state was a question worth considering.

"Hmm, your name is number one on ranking. White Deadclaw."

The words echoed by his side and he turned his head to find her walking forward, with a couple of things in hand.

They were mostly foods that could be taken straight away from the nylon, along with a couple of drinks.

"I wasn’t keeping tabs on that."

White said, forcing himself onto his butt as she passed him a couple of foods.

"Thanks. What about you... what is your position on the ranking?"

He asked, trying to continue the conversation.

"I didn’t go on a killing spree. Only ranked 72."

"Makes sense. You don’t look like the killing type."

He replied, taking a drink.

The taste made him pause and read the cover on the drink.

"Wow. It’s quite good."

He mused beneath his breath.

"Awakeners’ diets are different from normal human diets."

Zisel commented as White raised an eyebrow.

"They are?"

"Yes. Humans don’t just eat for nutrients and growth, they try to satisfy the taste buds too, so they make foods sweeter and more delightful to taste."

"While the foods in Xtremcyber do taste good, especially the more costly ones, they’re still aimed at nutrients and growth first, rather than taste."

"That’s why to any normal awakener, human food tastes so much better."

She explained, grabbing a loaf of bread and stuffing it in her mouth.

At first White was confused as to how such food could enter through her tiny-looking mouth, but it expanded and surprisingly enough took it all in, with enough space to drink down even after.

’That’s wild. She’s like a foodie monster in a cute skin.’

He thought.

In silence they ate for about seven minutes before White couldn’t stuff down anymore, and he laid on his back.

"Goodnight."

She whispered from the side and he nodded once before his eyes slowly zipped shut.

Now, he faced another dilemma that was quite infuriating... he couldn’t sleep.

With his aching body and spinning head, he really tried to sleep it off, knowing if he did, when he woke up, he would be as good as new, but sleep never came and White was stuck there feeling every pain in his body, along with a spinning head.

In the end, he opened his eyes and looked to the side.

There he found a scene that shook his heart.
