Chapter 13: Chapter 13—Chaos

Despite Preparing as much as he could for the last three days, Laden still couldn’t help but feel fear. Fear of the unknown was innate to all beings.

"What exactly is happening and what is causing the chaos?" he asked, wanting to get a little grasp of what was going on.

"There’s no time... But I guess you deserve to know," the voice suddenly said.

"The summoning ceremony that you summoners undertake creates more problems in the spirit world than you can fathom."

"In order for you all to make contact with the summons, their Spirit world needs to be opened up, creating a whole."

"That hole is what they use."

"They? Who’s they? Laden suddenly asked.

"You aren’t qualified to know right now; just get to the spirit world as soon as possible," the voice said as it slowly grew distant.

"But how do I know where to go? I haven’t decided where I will arrive," he asked loudly.

"That’s right, Fate does," the voice said before totally vanishing.

"Fate does," Laden muttered while he prepared to head over to the spirit world.

"Prime, are you there? you have been overly quiet," Laden suddenly said.

"Of course I am, where else am I supposed to be?" Prime retorted harshly.

"Am I supposed to be interfering while you are being wishy-washy?" he replied.

Laden was taken aback, but he ultimately kept quiet as he understood Prime’s situation; it would have been awkward for him.

"I need your help, Prime; there’s trouble in the Spirit World. We need to battle this together," Laden said.

"You can’t order this Primordial one around," Prime replied arrogantly.

"I know, but this—" Laden was about to respond when he was suddenly cut off.

"Will you shut up and let this one talk? Since there’s trouble in the Spirit World, I am in," Prime said with a mischievous smile.

"Alright then, let’s go," he shook his head.

In the Nascent Space, Prime was really shocked by what he just experienced not long ago, but he made sure Laden didn’t notice.

"Did the Spirit of God personally come to this boy?" He thought in shock.

"Tsk, he just keeps getting weirder and weirder." 𝘧𝓇ℯ𝑒𝓌𝑒𝑏𝓃𝘰𝘷𝘦𝘭.𝒸ℴ𝓂

In his room, Laden’s mind reached out to the tattoo on his chest, which slowly started eating up.

"Here goes nothing," he said helplessly.

The same things he felt the last time he attempted this happened again as Laden felt a sensitivity overload and then felt nothing, but the only difference was what he felt after the nothing.

The last time after he stopped sensing anything, he arrived in a silent place marking his appearance in the spirit world, but this time things were different.

The instant he arrived at the Spirit World, Laden felt nothing but unending heat. It was so hot he felt as if his skin were about to melt off.

Accompanying the heat was a cacophony of noises originating from different corners of the surroundings.

He quickly opened his eyes to check what was going on, and Laden couldn’t help but take a step back upon seeing what was in front of him.

In front of Laden was a sea of unending flames; the flames were blazing so harshly that they kept releasing a popping sound, but that wasn’t all.

Scurrying about in such hot flames were different kinds of Spirit beast that ranged from birds to deer-like creatures to snakes. They all ran as fast as they could, trying to get out of the flames.

"What the hell? What am I supposed to do?" Laden asked.

When he heard the voices call, he thought he was going to be fighting some sort of evil spirit or something; he never thought it would be flames.

"What do you mean what are you supposed to do?’ you fight dummy" Prime retorted harshly from the Nascent Space.

"Fight what? The flames?" Laden responded with the same energy.

"Idiot, isn’t it obvious that something would be causing the fire just get in there and fight the cause," Prime urged.

Since the last time he was sure, it had been proven to Laden that he could think of this place as the normal world; things are extremely strange here, resulting in him acting equally strangely.

"Get into the fire?" he repeated while swallowing a gulp of saliva. He could feel how hot it actually was even from such a distance, let alone actually entering through it.

"Weakling," Prime said.

"Merge with this one and you should be able to manage the heat," he instructed.

Laden didn’t refute; he did just as Prime said and activated his Spirit Energy to merge with Prime’s.

Laden felt the two of them merge as blue fur started growing on his hands and face.

"Now get into that fire, and find the bastard causing this," Prime shouted.

Just like Prime said, after merging with his summon, Laden felt the brunt of the heat lessen extremely. It had changed from a sort of skin-melting heat to just slight discomfort, but that was only because he was at a distance.

"It should probably feel like tiny stings when I actually enter it," Laden said softly as he rushed towards the flame with an unyielding confidence.

Inside the flames, Laden noticed his visibility reduced by a great amount, making it difficult for him to actually get a good view, but he could still hear the rushing footsteps of escaping spirit beasts.

Despite the low visibility, Laden strained his eyes and decided to head towards the center of the flames itself.

Each step he took was a war against a lot of things: the heat, the smoke, and also the flustered spirit, as Laden had almost hit some of them while they ran.

The deeper he walked, the hotter Laden felt the flame was, and the harder it was for him to move forward, but Laden refused to stop due to his determination and also Prime’s incessant urging.

"Don’t stop now, move faster; we are almost there; we will get to battle soon," he kept shouting.

And just like it had said, Laden finally arrived at what appeared to be the center of the flames, but instead of being the hottest area, it was just a bare circumscribed area.

"That’s the cause," Laden muttered as he looked at the grotesque beast that was laying in the middle of the area.

"Now get that bastard."
