SSS-Knight in a Hero World - Chapter 127: Last goodnight sleep

On the way back, Ferris carefully held the groceries they picked up at the last second.

He didn't expect Magpie to buy such a large amount in one go, so late in the evening as well.

He still remembered how poor that one employee looked when they thought their day's work was over, only to be greeted by carts worth of items to scan.

Fortunately, it was split into different checkouts so that everyone could bear the suffering together.

Ferris looked toward the driver beside him. "I didn't expect you to buy this many, are you planning on becoming a chef?"

After her gathering of Ferris' preference data, she looked straight at the road and lightly shook her head. "I do not plan on becoming a chef."

Ferris chuckled under the heapload of precious groceries. "You seemed so passionate though. I'm pretty sure we covered every aisle in under ten minutes or so." I even used my essence to keep up with you, I was dragging four carts by myself! Ferris said seriously and thought half seriously about his pent-up feelings.

Then he continued. "If you were this passionate, why didn't you do this for Prin any sooner?"

This time, Magpie stayed silent for longer than usual, and if Ferris wasn't hallucinating, the car actually slowed down by a fraction.

After waiting patiently, Ferris heard his answer.

Magpie admitted, "I do have the need to look after my Dame, however.

It seemed as if I did not have the means to express it."

Are you shy? Ferris thought inconspicuously. "Try to act on your needs without waiting for someone's orders, unless of course...

you're a robot." Ferris joked before hiding under the heapload of groceries. Be better, Ferris... better at making jokes!

"I will take that into account, Ferris," she replied.

Once arriving at Prin's house embedded in a small mountain, Ferris sighed a breath of relief once Magpie was there to help him carry the bags.

Even with his essence, he couldn't grow more arms!

Giving the owner of the house the shock of her life, she, along with Ferris, sat on the dinner table as they waited for Magpie to finish cooking.

After waiting for around 10 minutes, they were greeted with a bowl of creamy pasta and a glass of what tasted like banana smoothie.

Tasting the heavy flavors of the pasta, then washing it down with the banana-flavored drink, Ferris could easily conclude that Magpie was able to copy what she saw on the internet.

Yet why did Magpie choose not to copy human behavior to its absolute perfection?

Ferris could only understand that to Magpie, such mimicry was just a copy, not the real feelings of emotion.

Seriously, Yaromech... when you came to this world, why did you make her?

What's her purpose? Ferris silently gazed her up and down. He still couldn't see a resemblance to anyone he knew in his old world.

As they both thanked the master chef, Ferris stayed behind while Prin retreated back to the sanctity of her bedroom.

He watched Magpie place their dirty plates inside what looked like a dishwasher. He expected it to run as it should, but he was surprised when the food bits started to peel off as if they turned to ashes.

This scene reminded him of when he first met 'Prodigy Prince,' and he was asked to strip himself in order to bathe in strange waves that destroyed dirt.

Ferris shivered.

I thought it was okay since we were both male, but now that I know it was Prin...

He had no words and could only feel a bit angry and embarrassed.

Thanking Magpie one last time, Ferris went to check the supplies he bought a while ago before selectively storing what he needed for a relatively long trip, such as drinking water and the eye drops he bought in the pharmacy.

As for his money...

"Heh," Ferris furrowed his brows.

It can stay inside my domain, where it remains untouchable!

After neatly storing spare clothes and other essentials, he was left with a compact but heavy bag.

As for a physical weapon, Ferris regretted not being able to buy his own weapon with his own money when he could.

But after tasting the benefit of having Prin as a 'friend,' he became slightly more open to 'relying' on her resources. Maybe she had something that fits him, or maybe there were more of her father's leftover gear.

First, he washed himself up to look decent before knocking on Prin's room thrice and stating his needs.

Prin blinked a few times.

"Yaromech's swords?" she repeated what Ferris asked to make sure.

She's using the name Yaromech? Looks like she has a favorite...

Ferris could only imagine the father she had before his friend came along.

She's pronouncing it wrong though, the 'Y' is supposed to be silent. He commented inwardly before deciding to let her pronounce it like that.

"Yes, does he have extras?"

After hesitating for a bit, she eventually nodded with an unsure look. "He does, but they're all in orbit inside a capsule."

In orbit?! Ferris was left speechless. Maybe he could understand if it was a special weapon that needed to be safe in space...

But all of them?

"What about his armor? Does he have more of that?"

Prin was even more unsure. "I don't know, maybe he stored them along with his swords."

"..." Ferris sighed internally. He didn't want to bother Prin to get them back to the ground, and he trusted that Yaromech stored them there for an important reason.

But even if Prin was willing to retrieve them, Ferris felt that it might take too long.

Yes... tomorrow, I'll give Marie an excuse to stop by a store so I can buy myself a kitchen knife.

This was his last resort, and he regretted even thinking about it.

During his thoughts, Prin abruptly spoke. "I-I'm sorry, I'm not able to access the capsule's flight controls."

She can't? Ferris raised one eyebrow. What about the thing she sent me back then?

He suddenly had a deep thought. Out of everything she could've sent, why did she send the one that suited me the most?

And why was that the only one of Yaromech's belongings that she could send to me?

That thought he had back then resurfaced once more. Upon remembering, he asked Prin about that strange situation.

Prin almost jumped in fear, the look Ferris gave her was rather serious.

Ferris then smiled to ease her. "Take your time, I'm a rather patient knight."

"...Actually, my dad left me a note. Wait here."

Prin softly shut the door in front of him.

After waiting for around a minute or two, the door reopened and Prin gave him an old USB stick with a paper tape that had the words "For Prin!"

Obviously, he couldn't open it without a computer.

Unlike the last time he barged into her room, Ferris politely asked to enter and show him the contents inside.

She hesitantly nodded.

When entering, Ferris could only notice her room's messy state.

He frowned.

Her room only had her large computer setup, her bed, and an advanced seat that was surrounded by rings and monitors. He could only guess that that was where she would remotely pilot her mechs if they weren't on automated mode.

He turned his attention to Prin's monitor that displayed her notepad.

[As I write this for my daughter, I have already sent the satellite capsule containing a set of my 'special' gear into low orbit.

Give this gear to someone you deem important. Since you're my Prin, I trust your judgment.

And also, please treat the woman that gave you this with love and care. Her name's Magpie.]

"..."

[Below is the access code to that specific satellite I sent. If you show this to the important person you chose and they have a reaction, I can assure you that you found the right person.]

[Code: V1KING]

If Ferris had water in his mouth, he would've given Prin a sudden wash when he read the last line.

Aside from that, Ferris struggled to understand why this vague term of being 'important' led him to read this message.

How the hell did he know that I would be the one reading this?

My knight order only had half a thousand members at best. Compared to the millions of knights, what were the chances that a knight order, specifically from Viking, would be reborn here and be noticed by Prin?

After some quick thoughts, he concluded that Yaromech must have used some kind of future-telling ability.

Perhaps a person with the blessing to see the future, maybe see fate or even change it to an extent.

Asmodeus came to mind, but she was simply too young and too weak. He couldn't think of anyone that fitted that description in this world.

I guess she sent it to me when she thought that I might be from another world?

He looked at Prin to find some answers, but she was staring at him with a curious gaze.

"Ah, y-yes. That password is actually the name of our knight order.

Your father was the leader of it all, and I was a part of it."

Prin's eyes sparkled like water being shined upon by the sun. To her, him being the leader of this knight group made her more proud than having a CEO as a father.

After a bit more exchanges, Ferris left her room, still questioning this strange coincidence and still feeling disappointed that he might go tomorrow empty-handed.

Ferris jumped onto his bed, plugged his phone to charge, then slept for the night.
