Chapter 1817: Encountering Battle (I)
The Dragon master’s forehead quickly smoothed out and he set the matter out of mind. He had more important things to take care of at the moment. There were eleven other major worlds left in his region. If they couldn’t keep everything under control... then they were trash as well and some needed to be culled.
“We can’t wait any longer!” said Skycloud. “We march on Light first after three days! Either we destroy them, or they are forced to sign an agreement to join forces against New Martial. Otherwise, no one can be at ease with Light at our rear!”
“I have no opinions otherwise!” the Dragon master chuckled. “You guys don’t need me to participate either. Perhaps Brother Red Moon will be able to handle it himself!”
“......” Okay fuck you to hell man!
Red Moon was absolutely outraged. How the hell had he offended this bastard? He mouths off with statements like these at the drop of a hat! It’s damned annoying!
He hadn’t felt that way before, but this time, he really felt that the Dragon master was touched in the head. Chaos beasts are chaos beasts, after all. We have nothing to do with each other, so why do you keep poking at me??
If I can fight Light by myself, would I have had my world taken away by a few little guys?
Who are you making fun of, huh?! Asshole!
Thankfully, Red Moon didn’t have as much anger in him as before or he would’ve long flown into a rage. The more he looked at the Dragon master, the more irritated he grew.
The Dragon master raised an eyebrow as well. He was equally annoyed. You already revealed your true strength, alright? Must you keep up this act? What’s the point of it? You and I both know each other’s limits. It’s one thing to put on a show for Skycloud, but to act like this in front of me too?
Truthfully speaking, the Dragon master was over it. Humans are so fake.
He’d almost acted impulsively a few times to have things out in the open with Red Moon, but the latter insisted on putting on a front of being so weak that Skycloud was calling the shots. It disgusted the Dragon master. You little shithead, I’ll kill you sooner or later for being so annoying!
......
Everything was a mess among the four regions in recent days. Everyone had their own schemes in mind. Dragon, Red Moon, and Skycloud were conspiring against Light. Meanwhile, New Martial wanted to create another trap to kill Skycloud with.
In Dragon Region, both Thunder World and the monster spirits were waiting for the other to make a move first. Phoenix and others of the Chaos Alliance were also forcing others into taking action, so that they might lure out their targets.
Everyone was trying to cheat or outwit everyone else.
......
Li Hao met no obstacle on his way to Dragon major world’s former location. Whatever might be happening to the rest of the four regions had nothing to do with him anymore. A whale could swallow the world!
That was his goal. He would set foot into sixth rank with the fastest speed possible so that he could defend himself from seventh ranks and even kill them. His aim was to participate in the battles between high ranks throughout the region.
They encountered some worlds along the way, of which his group easily disposed of. However, Li Hao was disdainful of the additions. It slowed them down and these worlds were scattered too far apart. Conquering just one of them added a day to their itinerary.
At this rate, how long would it take to swallow dozens or one hundred worlds?
Was a day a long time?
To be honest, no.
If eliminating a world or seizing it in one day within the chaos was being slow, then no one in existence possessed any efficiency to speak of. What was a few years or decades in the chaos worth?
“This is too slow!” Li Hao stopped going after worlds after the third one they took down. He frowned impatiently.
The powerhouses around him were immensely excited, like horses released from the reins. They didn’t find anything slow about their pace. It was immensely invigorating that they were finally allowed to run free.
“Slow?” Void paused and looked at his friend. Was this slow?
It really wasn’t.
They’d made fast time ever since leaving the intersection of Dragon and Phoenix major world territories. It’d only been three days, but they’d just taken down their third world. There was bound to be distances separating the worlds as they wouldn’t all be together.
They needed to locate the target, travel to it, find it, conquer it, and clean up the battlefield in a day... How do you still think that’s slow?
It’d been special circumstances when the four major worlds were gathered together. Now, all of the worlds stood apart from each other. Visiting one world a day was an incredible pace in the chaos. One could even call it lightning fast movement.
“This isn’t good enough!” Li Hao’s frown deepened. “If this continues, I’ll need at least a year to make it to sixth rank!”
A year...
Void didn’t say anything. Was one year slow?
Perhaps.
His friend made sense on second thought. Would the war in Blazing Sun continue for a year?
Probably not.
Once the Dragon master ceased to have a battlefield to occupy his attention, he would swiftly return home. If Li Hao was not yet a sixth rank and Void not a seventh rank then... they really would be in trouble.
But their current pace was their limit, in his opinion. Everyone was putting everything on the line to travel fast, kill their enemies, ambush the world, and clean up the battlefield. No one was dragging their feet.
“Why don’t we split up?” Lin Hongyu proposed calmly. “We possess a certain degree of battle strength ourselves now. We can fan out and have mid ranks lead the teams. That will raise our efficiency!”
“It’s too dangerous!” Li Hao shook his head. “There’s no shortage of heavyweights in Dragon Region. There might be even sixth or seventh ranks...”
Yuan Shuo’s interest was piqued and he joined in the discussion. “Then isn’t this like how things were before? We can just pretend to be the local leader and have the world masters bring their worlds to us for a meeting. We’ll take them out in one go!”
That was the idea, but who should they pose as?
Everyone wanted a similar setup to how they’d operated around ‘Black Dog World’. That would create a large enough battlefield for everyone to take action. Although people had participated in the attacks on the three worlds over the past three days, it hadn’t been as enjoyable as their previous occasion.
Many were able to only sit on the sidelines. There was no room for them to be involved. That eliminated a lot of chances for them to give things a go themselves.
Li Hao thought over the issue instead of immediately offering a response. “Void, what kind of treasure can entice a bunch of powerhouses to gather in the chaos?”
“Treasure?” Void shook his head. “It’ll have to be a world on par with Skyward, one that can strengthen exalted emperors, or...”
His eyes lit up. “Or a sixth rank world about to produce a dao universe. No matter if they want to watch a show, take it for themselves, fish in muddied waters, or something else, everyone will be interested.
“If it’s a sixth rank world about to break through to seventh, you saw how Orchid Forest was. And that was when the world had a dao universe and a master! If a dao universe forms without a master... then countless exalted emperors will be attracted once that becomes common knowledge!”
Li Hao grinned. Void also smiled approvingly and looked around for Gan Wuliang and Hong Yitang.
“That’s right!” His smile broadened. “That’s how we should do it. We can’t continue how we’ve been, that’s too slow. Let’s go find the strongest sixth rank world around and send out dao universe ripples. That will indicate it’s about to give birth to a dao universe and become a seventh rank.
“The strength of a dao universe will spread in all directions and be so noticeable that it will lure over many heavyweights...”
“Will it bring a seventh rank to us?” someone asked with worry.
“That’d be even better!” Li Hao brightened. “If a seventh rank really does come, they won’t be here with their world since that would be too much of a risk and hassle. We’ll be able to kill them!”
People’s hearts pounded. Killing a seventh rank!
They’d done so once before, with Waterpeak. Although that’d been a success, many unexpected factors had been part of their victory.
Li Hao unfurled a map, not the one from Red Moon, but from Phoenix. Phoenix didn’t have too much detail on Dragon major world, but it’d labeled some of the sixth rank worlds. The labels were very cursory, which meant to say that Black Dog should avoid offending the sixth rank worlds if possible.
There was no detail on what precisely constituted the worlds.
Li Hao took a quick look and said, “Silver Moon’s dao universe is one of fifth rank twin daos. It’s on par with the pre-ascended Orchid Forest and meets the requirements for producing dao ripples of a new born dao universe.
“Silver Moon’s dao centers on sword dao, but all daos are present in a dao universe. It’s hard to determine which one is the main one. We can choose a world slightly further away from the other seventh rank worlds...” He scanned the map and pointed at a spot. “This one!”
Eyes widened when they looked at the target location. Li Hao was such a madman. He’d picked the heart of Dragon major world’s influence, which was where the world used to occupy.
There were a few sixth rank worlds in the vicinity. Since they were so close, that meant they were direct subordinates and true vassal worlds. There would be no seventh rank worlds around Dragon major world.
“We need to get there as quickly as possible and seize a sixth rank world.” Li Hao smiled at the group. “Then we need to start creating the phenomena. Ling Yue, you will agitate all of the chaos strength in the surroundings to make it seem like the world is ascending. The bigger the disturbance, the better!
“Dao masters, you need to amplify the dao universe’s ripples to as much and as far away as possible. Don’t worry about being discovered. It’d be a problem if no one noticed. I want all worlds in the area to realize that a world is about to ascend!
“In addition, I need four exalted emperors to hang back and observe movements from the other major worlds. We cannot have them quietly come within range. It will be a very dangerous mission, but I do need people on it.
“The four accepting this duty can take a world with them as a communication tool. That will also help me expand the range of the river of time...” The young man looked at the group. “Who is willing to be the vanguard and scout for danger?”
A seventh rank world on the move would cause an enormous disturbance; they would be very noticeable. Providing an early warning would enable Li Hao to be prepared, but it would be a very dangerous job. Death was a foregone conclusion if they were discovered.
Looks were exchanged within the crowd. Panther quickly wagged its tail. It was skilled at hiding, so it could be one of the four...
However, Panther was a fifth rank master of the world. Silver Moon might be ascending during this period of time too, so Li Hao didn’t want it to leave. He wanted more for some of the weaker exalted emperors to take on the role.
