Chapter 1913: Everyone Takes Action (II)

“Given the general state of affairs and how shaken the eastern region continues to be... it is only a matter of time before we’re devoured by another. The rest of the region will not just sit back and let Chaos Sky’s boot fall upon their neck...” The Reincarnation master looked out over the group of seventh ranks in front of him. There were many of those left.

With how unsettled the world’s great dao was after the deaths of three eighth ranks, it would be hard to produce new eighth ranks in a short period of time. But once sufficient time passed, it was very likely that more eighth ranks would be born given the strength of Reincarnation major world.

Multiple eighth ranks were a highly probable outcome.

But could he afford to wait that long?

“The fall of Drifting Life and the others...” the Reincarnation said heavily. “Long Zhan is too strong. The Human King is also someone to keep an eye on since he was able to kill Drifting Life. While he may not be on par with me, he won’t be that far off.

“Based on what I know, these people are all very young! Silver Moon’s new king Li Hao is terrifyingly young. He was able to instantly travel to Gemini and kill the seventh ranks there... These are astonishing methods!”

The seventh ranks below the world masters were equally grave, but didn’t quite understand what the Reincarnation master meant.

“It might be too hard for us to vie for the position of the eastern overlord,” said the world master after some thought. “Reincarnation is even in danger of being destroyed! Arctic Frost and the rest are irresolute and indecisive.

“Although there was some danger in making a move before, they didn’t even try. This also means that once those guys encounter real danger, they might completely lose their heads...”

Although it seemed like a smart move that Arctic Frost and the other worlds hadn’t gotten involved, thus preventing any losses, if this was how they always reacted, then none of these worlds could ever become the overlord of the eastern region.

“Today, I am but a single log looking to build a dam...” The Reincarnation master fell silent for a moment. “I am of a mind to ally with Chaos Sky of the west... and even bend the knee to them!”

The crowd reeled with shock!

The Reincarnation master regained his calm. As the foremost powerhouse of the east, he wouldn’t become dejected so easily. But the sudden crisis that’d happened imparted a sense of the world possibly ending.

The demise of the three eighth ranks and the incompetence of other eighth rank worlds in the region enabled him to understand that the east would no longer be tranquil or safe going forward.

Long Zhan was stirring from the four regions. His offensive in the last engagement might not have been to help the Human King, but to weaken the east’s strength. What a pity that these guys insisted on focusing only on their own business. Not a single eighth rank had gotten involved in the earlier battle.

“Naturally, I will require a large sum of resources from Chaos Sky,” Reincarnation intoned. “I will demand that the power of life and death be deployed to see if Drifting Life and the others can be revived!

“If Reincarnation becomes the spokesperson of Chaos Sky in the east, they will gain solid roots in the region in return for the enormous price they pay. We will be an effective obstacle against the dragons exiting the four regions...”

The seventh ranks exchanged glances. One of them asked in a low voice, “World master, is it possible for Drifting Life and the others to be resurrected?”

“I am an emperor of life and death in charge of reincarnation!” intoned the Reincarnation master. “Although the three eighth ranks have died, their great daos snapped, and their dao stars shattered, their foundations yet remain. They have a chance if our world continues to stand. Everyone thinks that we’ve suffered an enormous loss in that battle. But if we can revive those who fell, then we still stand a chance!”

He looked to the west. Three factions vied for supremacy these days. Chaos Sky, Spring Autumn, and the Five Elements. The west wanted to conquer the chaos, which most likely made the east their last zone of influence. Chaos Sky’s most immediate issue was the north and south working together against him!

There would be more opportunities for his world if he had reinforcements or allies in the east. So would Chaos Sky agree to Reincarnation’s proposal?

He most likely would.

Chaos Sky had already sent Cloud Dust on a flurry of activity through the east over the years. Perhaps... there were already eighth rank worlds that’d sworn fealty to him. There were likely a lot of seventh ranks as well.

Chaos Sky would be even stronger than it was now if these forces were consolidated.

However, Reincarnation was sure to pay a price as well for this decision.

A myriad of thoughts ran through his mind. The Reincarnation master didn’t know if he felt regret or some other emotion. He turned to the crowd once more and said softly, “Do the fellow daoists have any opinions otherwise?”

With that, the rest knew that the world master had made up his mind.

“Reincarnation has dominated the east for many years, but now...” some sighed with disappointment. They didn’t finish the sentence.

“There is no point in sighing now that things have progressed to this state.” The Reincarnation master was in a decent enough mood, all things considering. “We can only save ourselves at this point!”

He was calm and looked once more to the west. “We are here, no matter what! Chaos Sky wishes to conquer the chaos, so he might need my help. There is still a chance for Reincarnation!”

He suddenly waved a hand and summoned a person to him. It was another Reincarnation exalted emperor. The latter registered his change in circumstances with wide eyes. He was terrified that he’d suddenly arrived in front of a crowd of premier exalted emperors.

The Reincarnation master didn’t say anything. He was familiar with some of Chaos Sky’s spies and methods. He just hadn’t been bothered to do anything about them before. The man reached out to the other exalted emperor, disturbing the latter’s presence and sending ripples over him.

The ripples stretched toward the void.

After an indeterminate period of time, an extremely faint ripple traveled back from an incomparably far location.

The ripple suddenly trembled.

“Reincarnation?”

“It is me.” The Reincarnation master nodded knowingly after a long moment. “Greetings to Fellow Daoist Chaos Sky!”

The ripple was silent for a while before vibrating, “Does Fellow Daoist Reincarnation have business to do with me?”

“The fellow daoist should know of the changes in the east.” The Reincarnation master cut straight to the chase. “Powerhouses of the four regions have emerged from Thunder Region. The eastern region has been thrown into turmoil. This might be a good thing for the fellow daoist, but that is not guaranteed!

“The situation in the east is complicated. There are also two secret realms of Thunder Region and Skyward major world among the four regions. They might be connected to the ninth ranks!

“Reincarnation major world is willing to sign a dao treaty with the fellow daoist. In return, I require the revival of three eighth ranks and four seventh ranks. I need many high rank corpses, dao crystals, and world origin!

“Reincarnation can be your ally in the east. I am willing to flank the north or south in critical moments!”

The faint ripple sank into a contemplative silence. “How much do you need?” it asked after a while.

“Three eighth rank corpses, four seventh rank corpses, three world origin from high rank worlds, and as many as you can spare from mid worlds! In addition, I need one hundred billion dao crystals!”

The Chaos Sky master took time to weigh up the pros and cons. “I do not have that many eighth rank corpses...”

The demands weren’t high, but neither were they low. It was easier to fulfill the condition of the seventh rank corpses. But when it came to eighth rank, he’d only killed one as well...

“The fellow daoist should have them!” Reincarnation responded calmly. Has only one eighth rank died around you?

There were many eighth rank worlds in the west, far more than could be found in the east. None of them had shown significant movement as of yet. It was only known that Chaos Sky had ambushed and killed one eighth rank, that was all.

But was that really all?

“Fellow Daoist Reincarnation... is really...” laughed the Chaos Sky master. “Very well, I can supply what the fellow daoist needs. What other requests do you have? Please list them all at once.”

“I need a comprehensive overview of all Chaos Sky factions in the east, and they must obey my command! We will either eliminate New Martial, Silver Moon, and Light or force them back into the four regions. We can also force them out of the east and into the north or south...”

That would be very good for the Chaos Sky master. He’d received some word of what had happened in the east.

“That can be done!” he quickly responded. “If need be, I can send some reinforcements as well. I will have someone deliver what the fellow daoist needs soon.”

He didn’t mention anything about a dao treaty.

“Then a signed agreement...” raised the Reincarnation master when he saw that the topic hadn’t come up.

“That’s alright, we do not need to sign a dao treaty. Chaos tribulations are not necessarily a natural construct in the universe. They might have something to do with the master of Thunder Region. Signing one means handing over one’s safety to that person. They might even learn of the treaty’s contents!

“If the fellow daoist doesn’t mind, you can sign a treaty of Chaos Sky with me...”

The Reincarnation master raised a brow. Dao treaties were based off chaos tribulations. Those could be found everywhere the chaos was. Its effects also depended on who one signed the treaty with.

A Chaos Sky treaty?

Worlds pertaining to Chaos Sky would have to be found throughout the chaos. Otherwise, the treaty was null and void outside its sphere of influence.

Did this mean that the Chaos Sky master was confident that his rule would soon reach the east, or that his authority was already creeping throughout the chaos universe?

Countless speculations ran through Reincarnation’s mind, but he still readily agreed.

“Was it Long Zhan of the dragons who fought you previously?” asked Chaos Sky.

“It was him.”

“What did the fellow daoist think of him?”

“He is very strong. He’s coalesced a dao domain of a little more than six thousand dao rules, but his physical body is so formidable that it nears seven thousand!”

“That is indeed very strong!” Chaos Sky said after a pause. “Then... what about Human King Fang Ping of New Martial?”

“He cut down Drifting Life with one blow, so it is hard to say. He likely has around five thousand dao rules as well.”

“The four regions have certainly produced a fair share of perverse geniuses,” sighed Chaos Sky. “What of the Thunder Emperor?”

“He’s not that strong and only managed to kill my injured Ming Xu through sheer happenstance. I judge him to be an initial eighth rank of two thousand dao rules...”

Chaos Sky didn’t comment this time. This kind of eighth rank was indeed not strong. At their level, they used a different set of criteria to determine strength. When one was considering only eighth ranks, a finer tooth comb was needed to sift through them all.

All of the overlords had their own criteria, but the results were mostly the same.

“It’s said that a world spun off from New Martial was also part of the fight. Silver Moon killed Earth Yang, so what of its world master?”

“Passable... he entered seventh rank in the last possible moment and commands some tribulation strength. He should have almost two thousand dao rules, making him close to a weak eighth rank, but not yet at that level.”

As the strongest powerhouse of the east, the Reincarnation master’s judgment was quite sharp. “However, I suspect that this person knows some unique daos. He might even command a skillset similar to the dao of Spring Autumn in the south.”

“Something similar to time?”

“Correct.”

“Now that’s interesting!” smiled the Chaos Sky master. “If we can, we should take this guy alive! Spring Autumn has improved rapidly over the years, a feat having much to do with his dao rules. Based on what I know, they might have needed a dao master of time back in those days. Time might also be the key to bringing them back. It’s a very complicated issue!”
