Chapter 4335: Reinforcements
If the Mudwater Dominion’s eight elders were all at Ni Gui’s level, it would be wonderful, but unfortunately, this creature was likely the weakest of the eight elders. If not, Ba Se would not have sent Lu Yin to face it.
Ba Se did not know that Lu Yin’s power had continued to improve. At full strength, he was actually capable of facing a two-law Immortal now.
As Celestial Weave Net fell, Heaven’s Sight opened on Lu Yin’s brow. He used his sight power’s Pressure Over All Living Beings to push himself upwards.
Purple sight power erupted. It propped up Celestial Weave Net, preventing it from falling.
Ni Gui stared at how calm Lu Yin was below the purple sight power, unable to believe what it was seeing.
This was the weight of a civilization, as well as the weight of an Immortal; how could this creature still resist it? This was no different from directly defending against an Immortal. Was that something that an Aberrant could do?
The standard for the Mudwater Dominion’s eight elders was being able to record Immortals. Without that ability, even if a creature of their civilization became an Immortal, they would simply be recorded by one of the eight elders.
That was why the Mudwater Dominion would always have the eight elders.
Ni Gui was not the weakest of the eight elders; it was actually ranked a bit below the middle. It was not considered very strong. If not for its hereditary ability of karmic designation, it would not have the power of a fishing civilization. Even so, it was still an Immortal, and it also possessed Immortals civilizational weapons that could be used in a powerful attack. It was more than enough to give Ni Gui an advantage when facing an Immortal opponent of equal strength.
It was completely unexpected for every means at its disposal to be useless against Lu Yin.
How could this be? Where had such a monster come from?
Lu Yin stepped forward. As his hand moved, his Tri-Azure Sword Intent moved according to his will. A single slash of the sword intent ripped open a section of Ni Gui’s body. It swung Celestial Weave Net to capture Lu Yin, but the net could not be moved. It was still being held fast in place by Lu Yin’s sight power. The darkness of the Aevum Inch was stained purple as Lu Yin delivered one slash after another, slicing Ni Gui’s body apart. It continuously tried to block with its Heavenly Mud Ghost Claw, but it looked utterly powerless before Lu Yin’s sword intent.
The most frustrating thing was that it was impossible to threaten Lu Yin with karmic designation. That was the Mudwater Dominion’s absolute means. It was extraordinarily effective at restraining Immortals, but Ni Gui was fighting an Aberrant.
Lu Yin’s eyes grew cold. This was one of the eight elders; he refused to let his reward get away. If all eight elders were at this level, he would be able to carve straight through the Mudwater Dominion.
Ni Gui tried to make its escape. It retrieved Celestial Weave Net and fled, racing back in the direction that it had come from. It had been powerless throughout this battle.
Given how thoroughly Lu Yin countered their abilities, more than half of the eight elders would be unable to do anything to this Aberrant.
Suddenly, Ni Gui thought of a possibility. “You’re from Obscura...”
Lu Yin sneered. It had figured out the truth too late.
If Ni Gui had known from the start that Lu Yin was part of Obscura, it would have undoubtedly been much more cautious. Of course, no amount of caution would change the outcome, as caution alone could not compensate for such a difference in strength.
One of the greatest benefits in cultivating a variety of powers was that being able to counter all kinds of powerful enemies.
Lu Yin had run into many experts that he was able to counter. It was not coincidence that had continuously favored him, but rather the fact that he cultivated far too many different powers and abilities. His strength was so diverse that he could counter too many powerful opponents.
Another river of sword intent slashed out.
Ni Gui looked back and then suddenly spun around to charge straight at Lu Yin. The creature’s cement spread out to cover everything.
Lu Yin’s eyes flickered, and he teleported behind Ni Gui.
It saw that there was nothing in front of it. Gone? So fast?
Purple sight power filled their surroundings, and Manifestation Beyond the Pupil took form. As that occurred, the river of sword intent poured down. Lu Yin was employing the exact same strategy that he had used to deal with the mud doll.
Strands of Tri-Azure Sword Intent slashed through the sight power, only for countless Heavenly Mud Ghost Claws to suddenly appear around Ni Gui.
As that happened, an indescribable sensation spread. It was the Immortal’s unique world. Lu Yin immediately retreated. He had almost forgotten that Immortals also had this method at their disposal.
Each Immortal’s unique world was cultivated through the cosmic law that they resonated with, and to a certain extent, it could be considered one of their most powerful attacks.
There was a bang as Manifestation Beyond the Pupil shattered. Lu Yin withdrew his sight power. Countless Heavenly Mud Ghost Claws targeted him from all directions.
“My boundless realm.” Ni Gui’s voice dropped low, growing fierce and filled with madness. Its entire body contorted, as if it was suffering immensely.
Right after that, multiple Ni Guis started to appear. They spread out endlessly, as though the creature was replicating itself.
Lu Yin frowned. Clones? No, could this be some kind of cosmic law?
What kind of law could allow an Immortal to duplicate itself?
Before he could think any further, the countless Ni Guis attacked with countless Heavenly Mud Ghost Claws. Lu Yin raised a hand, and his scythe, Aberrant, appeared in his grasp. Activeness erupted from the weapon at the same time as his sight power released Pressure Over All Living Beings, making it hard for anything near Lu Yin to move.
Facing Ni Gui, he lifted his scythe and slashed down.
As that happened, Lu Yin vanished. The scythe dropped. Ni Gui tried to flee, but its body was still split in two from an attack from behind.
It was horrified. When had Lu Yin gotten behind it?
The scythe spun in Lu Yin’s hand: horizontal slash, diagonal slash, vertical slash. It struck again and again, repeatedly cutting Ni Gui’s body into pieces. Finally, Lu Yin clenched the scythe’s shaft while throwing a palm strike, sending all the pieces of Ni Gui’s shattered body into the Champions’ Stage Purgatory. Increase my karma.
The Champions’ Stage Purgatory abruptly experienced a violent surge of karma. Ni Gui generated far more karma than Bing Xu or any of the other Immortals from Crimson Starshade. While it was nowhere close to what Lu Yin had gained from the Immortal Lord, it was still a reasonable amount of karma for an Immortal.
Some time later, Lu Yin released Ni Gui from the Champions’ Stage Purgatory.
It had been completely crippled and was unable to escape. It floated in the cosmos, taking the same form as a stream of water, much like the other mud doll had after being heavily injured by Lu Yin.
Looking down at it, Lu Yin stared at Ni Gui. “Do you still want to record me?”
The cement bubbled continuously as it produced broken sounds. “You... kill me... Ni... Ni Bieluo... will kill... you.”
Lu Yin clasped his hands behind his back. “Perhaps. Why don’t you come up with a safe plan for me? Maybe I won’t have to kill you.”
“Obscu... Obscura won’t spare me. You are part of Obscura. Ni Bieluo won’t... spare you.” Ni Gui’s voice was extremely weak. “I already... designated... karma... to you. The other... eight elders... can sense it. Even if you... aren’t affected by karma... the karma of my... death will be a beacon... They will... hunt you down.”
Lu Yin’s eyes instantly gained a sharp glint. He did not know if Ni Gui was telling the truth or not. Either way, he was unwilling to take that risk.
If Ni Gui was being truthful, it would become difficult for Lu Yin to survive this war. On the other hand, if he did not kill Ni Gui, he would receive no rewards.
The only option was to capture Ni Gui and place it in a Zenith Mountain for the time being. Lu Yin could kill it after the war was over.
Due to Ni Gui’s heavy injuries, Celestial Weave Net had also been released.
Just like the recorded civilization that Lu Yin had seen the mud doll use, the cosmos suddenly contained a vast cosmic civilization, including an Immortal that had been recorded by Ni Gui.
That Immortal had been left half-dead long ago, or else it would have never been recorded.
Lu Yin could not even determine the Immortal’s true form, as most of its body was gone. The damage should have been done by Ni Gui. The Mudwater Dominion’s methods were chilling.
“Since you are already in such a state, I’ll grant you release so that you won’t suffer forever, but in return, you need to repay me.” With that, Lu Yin put this Immortal into his Champions’ Stage Purgatory, to further increase his karma. As soon as he let it back out, he granted it release.
In the Aevum Inch, all foreign civilizations were unfriendly. If they were strong, they would kill those that they encountered. If they were weak, they would do their best to avoid encountering those stronger than them. 𝒻𝘳𝘦𝘦𝘸ℯ𝒷𝘯𝘰𝑣ℯ𝑙.𝘤𝑜𝘮
Lu Yin did not believe that an Immortal who had been badly injured to this point would repay him after he saved it. There was no concept of mercy in the cosmos; granting the Immortal release was already the greatest possible mercy he could give.
Lu Yin did not know how vast his Karmic Dao had become, as he had not fully released it. On this battlefield, it would be better for him to keep a low profile for the time being.
If things proceeded smoothly and he was able to eliminate another one of the eight elders during this war, he would gain enough karma that his Karmic Dao would definitely surpass the Heavenly Karmic Macrocosm. Just the thought was exhilarating.
However, even if his Karmic Dao grew larger than the Heavenly Karmic Macrocosm, that did not mean that Lu Yin had surpassed Green Lotus. Rather, that the two would simply be very close in terms of their mastery of karma.
The more karma that Lu Yin had, the more methods that he had.
Even so, he needed to keep his abilities hidden on this battlefield, not only because of the Mudwater Dominion, but also because of Obscura.
Lu Yin had never forgotten that Obscura itself was one of humanity’s greatest enemies. That had never changed.
He scanned his surroundings. He could not see the full scope of the battlefield. Even with his Mirrorlight Art allowing him to see as far as twenty years’ distance, he still could not see any other battles being fought.
It was possible that the battlefield had already expanded beyond the normal confines of distance.
This was a war between fishing civilizations, and one of the two on the battlefield was the behemoth Obscura. While it was called a war, the reality was that this conflict exceeded most imaginations.
Lu Yin did not leave, but rather stayed where he was. He could not find the other battles, but Obscura was able to find him.
It did not take long for a gate to appear before his eyes, and Ba Se’s voice emerged from it. “Congratulations, Lu Yin. For capturing Ni Gui and killing it, you can obtain a four-star reward.”
Lu Yin looked at the gate. “That wasn’t easy. I was also injured.”
“With this battle ended, please support others.”
“Has any battle been lost?”
“Yes.”
“Has anyone died?”
“Please support other battles.”
Lu Yin frowned. “What if I don’t?”
“This is war. The overall situation takes priority. If you refuse to support the others, all rewards will be forfeit.”
“You’re not going to send me to where Ni Bieluo’s fighting, are you?”
“This is war. The overall situation comes first, but Obscura will not deliberately send any members to their deaths.”
“Then please first tell me which of the eight elders I’ll be facing.”
Ba Se replied, “Lu Yin, please support another battle.”
Lu Yin frowned. He wanted to refuse, but refusing would cost him the reward that he had already earned, which would erase any potential benefits to be gleaned from fighting in this war.
“Fine. I’ll go.”
In the worst case scenario, he could simply not join the fight after arriving on another battlefield.
Step by step, he walked towards the gate, eventually passing through it and finding a desolate planet. The first thing he saw was a corpse: Lan Meng.
Lu Yin stared in a daze. Was Lan Meng dead?
The gate vanished from behind him.
He immediately teleported to change his position.
Not far from where he had just stood, a pool of cement stared in shock. “He escaped? What incredible speed! How is he so fast? He vanished in an instant. Since when has Obscura had such a person?”
After reaching a distant location, Lu Yin looked back. He had put some distance between himself and where he had arrived after passing through the gate. Even if a powerful enemy was watching him, they would not immediately find him.
He used his Mirrorlight Art to examine where he had just been standing, as well as Lan Meng’s corpse.
They were actually dead, which Lu Yin certainly had not expected.
Lan Meng had possessed exceptional strength for an Immortal who only resonated with one cosmic law. With Obscura’s coffin and gate, it would be hard for anyone to kill Lan Meng without forcing it into a battle like when Lu Yin and Mister Mu had ganged up Hui or without being a two-law powerhouse.
Though, even a two-law Immortal might not be able to kill Lan Meng if they were determined to flee.
Despite all this, Lan Meng was indeed dead.
Lu Yin reexamined Lan Meng’s corpse, as well as the shattered coffin and gate that lay near the body. Had Lan Meng tried to escape, only to fail?
That was the same as Hui.
