Chapter 1250 - 1225: Exposing the Snake Spirit’s Plot
Big Child and Second Child followed behind the Snake Spirit, showing no fear of any tricks she might play.
Previously, they had been overly confident because they believed in their exceptional abilities, which led to their underestimation and eventual capture.
This is called the audacity of youth...
As the voice of the Snake Spirit approached, Ye Chen caught sight of a familiar figure.
"Big Child, why is he here?" Ye Chen thought to himself.
He had repeatedly insisted they wait at home, yet somehow they were here.
Moreover, Ye Chen noticed an orange Huluwa walking shoulder to shoulder with Big Child, undoubtedly Second Child.
Ye Chen felt helpless at their arrival.
The Snake Spirit saw Ye Chen and the old man but wasn’t surprised; however, the Scorpion Spirit widened his eyes.
He finally understood why the Huluwa couldn’t see anyone in the dungeon: there was no one there. It meant Ye Chen had evaded traps and reached here with the old man.
"You..." Scorpion Spirit said, pointing at the two of them, his face full of fright.
Yet before he could finish, the Snake Spirit stopped him. Smiling at the elderly and the young, she said, "You’ve been waiting long, haven’t you? See who I’ve brought you."
"Grandpa, Big Brother, we were worried to death." Big Child and Second Child rushed toward the two.
She then said with a smile, "Little ones, I didn’t deceive you, did I? I’m just inviting them for drinks, not locking them up in some dungeon as you said."
The old man was about to expose the Snake Spirit but was interrupted by Ye Chen.
Without acknowledging the Snake Spirit, he turned to Big Child and Second Child and said, "Why did you come here? I told you to wait at home, but you didn’t listen."
Big Child said, face full of grievance, "I was worried about you and Grandpa, so I came with Second Brother. Thankfully, you’re alright."
He then looked at the Snake Spirit and said, "Fairies, you can let us leave now, right?"
Of course, the Snake Spirit was just putting on a show; she couldn’t possibly let them go easily.
After all, letting a tiger back to the mountain always poses future troubles.
"Of course, of course, you can leave anytime, but shouldn’t you taste our homemade wine first? If you refuse, it seems I’m neglecting you as guests. If word gets out, it’s terribly unfair to me." Snake Spirit said with a troubled expression.
"Alright then, I doubt you can manage any tricks." Big Child sat down with no hesitation.
Seeing Big Brother sit down, Second Child followed suit.
Ye Chen and the old man didn’t sit, knowing the Snake Spirit couldn’t possibly have such good intentions.
Especially since Ye Chen had experienced it before; if he hadn’t been prepared, they’d still be locked in the dungeon.
The old man was about to warn the two Hulus, advising them against trusting the crafty Snake Spirit, but Ye Chen stopped him.
If the Snake Spirit let them leave, he could let bygones be bygones, but if she tried anything again, she’d face his wrath.
Seeing everyone sit down, the Snake Spirit signaled her subordinates to bring out the wine and dishes to treat the guests well.
The subordinates left to carry out the orders, soon returning with wine and food.
Seeing the wine before them and smelling its aroma, Big Child and Second Child were about to lift their bowls for a drink.
But Ye Chen unexpectedly knocked over their bowls.
The sudden action startled Big Child and Second Child.
"Big Brother, what are you doing?" The two asked simultaneously.
"This wine is poisoned. Look at the wine spilled on the ground," Ye Chen said, annoyed.
He couldn’t understand how this Huluwa could be so naive and easily trusting; no wonder they were caught.
Big Child and Second Child looked down and saw the hot steam rising from the spilled wine, clearly tampered with.
"Fairies, how dare you harm us? See how I tear you to pieces," Big Child said, glaring at the Snake Spirit.
"Little one, you’re too naïve, so easily deceived," the Snake Spirit laughed.
Since exposed publicly, the Snake Spirit saw no need to continue the charade and spoke the truth.
She turned to her subordinates, venomous, pointing at Ye Chen and the others, "Seize them, don’t let anyone escape."
As her words fell, the subordinates rushed at Ye Chen and the others.
"Courting death!"
Now angry, Big Child and Second Child did not expect to be played like this, truly intolerable.
With innate divine power, Big Child grabbed a charging fairy and tossed him upwards.
The fairy flew like a sandbag, then hit the ground heavily, dying on the spot.
Though possessing Thousand-Mile Eye and Downwind Ear, Second Child couldn’t fight.
Seeing fairies rush at him, Ye Chen hurriedly blocked their path.
Ye Chen used the same method as Big Child to deal with the fairies.
Fairies were severely hurt; some died instantly, others had bones broken.
The cave echoed with wails, chilling those who heard.
The Snake Spirit was astonished by Ye Chen and Big Child’s strength; her subordinates were swiftly dealt with.
Even more shocked, her eyes widened and her mouth hung open.
The Scorpion Spirit panicked as he saw, quickly asking, "What now, my king?"
"What now? What now? All you do is ask! Stop them quickly!" The Snake Spirit shouted at Scorpion Spirit as Ye Chen and Big Child charged toward her.
She needed time to use her magical treasure, but they were close.
Suddenly, a plan hatched as her eye twinkled.
She whispered to Scorpion Spirit.
Initially frantic, Scorpion Spirit wore a happy expression upon hearing her.
He repeatedly praised, "My king, ingenious!"
Second Child overheard and knew the Snake Spirit intended to attack him and Grandpa.
He shouted, "Big Brother, Big Brother, hurry over and protect Grandpa."
Ye Chen and Big Child quickly dealt with the surrounding fairies and rushed toward the old man to protect him along with Second Child.
Seeing the scene, Snake Spirit’s face twisted into a wicked grin; she took out the Ruyi and chanted a spell.
By the time they realized, it was somewhat too late.
