Chapter 1257: Chapter 1232: Finding a Companion for the Little Bear

Little Jing hugged the teddy bear, wearing a thoughtful expression.

Ye Chen knew she must have remembered something and smiled as he said, "Little Jing, this teddy bear is so lonely, let’s find it a companion, shall we?"

The reason he said this was to get Little Jing to say where the teddy bear was.

Hearing Ye Chen’s suggestion, Little Jing nodded and then shook her head.

Ye Chen couldn’t understand what she was trying to express.

Little Jing seemed aware of Ye Chen’s intentions, holding the teddy bear and pointing around the room, then shaking her head, indicating that there were no companions for the teddy bear here.

Seeing the girl’s gestures, Ye Chen understood and quickly asked, "So if there are no companions here, where can we find some for the teddy bear? It really wants a friend to play with."

Little Jing remained silent for a while, not making another gesture. She was now in a state of deep thought.

Seeing the two people come out of the room, Zhou Susu and Officer Zhang were taken aback.

"What happened?" Zhou Susu looked at Ye Chen and asked.

Ye Chen said nothing, letting Little Jing lead the way.

Little Jing fetched paper and pencil from the living room and began to draw.

Even though a child of Little Jing’s age might not know many words, drawing simple pictures still wasn’t a problem.

She handed the completed drawing to Ye Chen, and by this time, Zhou Susu and Officer Zhang had joined him.

They could tell that the drawing depicted a house.

Zhou Susu looked at Ye Chen with a face full of confusion and asked, "Ye Chen, what does this mean?"

She couldn’t understand why Little Jing had suddenly started drawing, and especially drawing a house. Could it be that she was homesick?

"Susu, you need to take me and Little Jing to her former home now," Ye Chen said, looking at Zhou Susu.

"But, it’s too unsafe. If the murderer finds out that Little Jing has left police protection, he will surely try to harm her," Zhou Susu whispered in Ye Chen’s ear.

She was worried that Little Jing might overhear and feel upset.

"It’s all right, don’t worry. I can protect Little Jing’s safety, especially since you and this young officer are also there to protect her," Ye Chen said confidently.

"I can take you there, but you need to tell me the reason," Zhou Susu said.

"There isn’t time now. I’ll explain when we get there," Ye Chen replied, without giving Zhou Susu an answer.

Zhou Susu was somewhat worried. If Little Jing returned to her old home, would it cause her to recall those bad memories?

Little Jing’s condition had improved noticeably over the past few days. If that happened, it would be like reopening a scabbed wound, which would be too cruel for Little Jing.

But since Ye Chen insisted on going there, he must have his reasons.

"Ye Chen, can’t we go alone? Does Little Jing have to come?" Zhou Susu asked, frowning.

"That’s right, Little Jing is crucial; she must come with us," Ye Chen said firmly.

Ye Chen knew what Zhou Susu was worried about. He also thought this might be cruel to Little Jing, but avoiding it constantly wasn’t good either; it was better to face it directly.

Seeing Ye Chen’s determination, Zhou Susu had no choice but to relent.

"Little Jing, you haven’t been home for so many days. How about we take you to visit home?" Zhou Susu approached Little Jing and said with a smile.

Upon hearing the word ’home’, Little Jing’s expression turned sour, and she quickly ran back to the room.

Zhou Susu knew exactly what Little Jing was afraid of.

"Ye Chen, Little Jing doesn’t want to go back home. That’s where her heartache lies; it’s just too cruel for her," Zhou Susu said to Ye Chen, worried.

Ye Chen knew he couldn’t just force Little Jing back; he had to prepare her mentally here first.

"Susu, don’t worry, leave this to me," Ye Chen comforted Zhou Susu.

Despite Ye Chen’s reassurance, Zhou Susu was still worried, knowing it wouldn’t be easy to get Little Jing to go back there.

This was a huge challenge for each of them.

Ye Chen entered the room and looked at Little Jing, saying, "Little Jing, did I see right that you drew a house?"

Little Jing showed no expression nor made any movement.

"If I’m not mistaken, that should be your home, right? Since there are companions for the teddy bear there, let’s go find them. Two teddy bears together won’t feel lonely, just like you with your brother and sister will feel happy, right?" Ye Chen said, looking at Little Jing.

Though the girl gave him no response, it didn’t affect Ye Chen.

"Little Jing, I know you’ve lost your parents’ love and must feel lonely and sad, but many things have already happened that we can’t change, so we should face them bravely. Besides, your parents wouldn’t want you to be like this; they hope their daughter can live happy and joyful, just like other children."

At these words, Little Jing’s face filled with painful tears.

"Little Jing, don’t you want to catch the murderer who killed your parents as soon as possible? Right now, the murderer is still at large, and your parents must be very sad. If the murderer is caught soon, they’ll be very happy, and whether that happens depends on your teddy bear. It will not only help your parents but also find a companion for the teddy bear. As Ye Chen spoke, he watched Little Jing’s expression.

Suddenly, Little Jing came up to Ye Chen and nodded.

Seeing the girl’s actions, Ye Chen knew he had convinced Little Jing.

Once Little Jing found the teddy bear, the murder case troubling Zhou Susu for so long could be quickly solved, and the murderer could be brought to justice.
