Chapter 1262: Chapter 1237: I Accept Your Terms

Of course, a middle-aged man knows there are no such things as pies falling from the sky in this world. Since Ye Chen said he wants to help, there must be conditions.

"What conditions, go ahead and tell me," the middle-aged man asked Ye Chen.

Now, regarding his mother’s illness, he had no other option.

His mother’s illness was like a bottomless pit. Despite spending a lot of money over the years, it could only sustain life and was unlikely to be completely healed.

If things continue like this, he doesn’t know how long he can endure.

Although he previously helped that woman with that matter and received some money, his mother recently needed surgery, and the cost was exorbitant enough to scare someone to death. The middle-aged man even felt somewhat overwhelmed.

But despite that, he has to hold on because his mother relies only on him, and if he falls, what will happen to his mother?

"Very simple, just cooperate with me," Ye Chen said with a calm expression.

"Cooperate with you? I don’t understand what you mean," the middle-aged man frowned.

Ye Chen’s words indeed puzzled him; he didn’t understand what he could do to cooperate with this wealthy man.

"Okay, let me put it simpler. Do you remember the murder case that happened in the high-end villa district one evening, half a month ago?" Ye Chen observed the middle-aged man’s changing expression as he spoke.

"Sir, I think you’ve got the wrong person, I don’t understand what you mean," the middle-aged man said, feigning calmness.

Listening to Ye Chen, he realized why this young man had come to him; it was because of that murder case.

"I think you aren’t confused, you’re pretending to be confused," Ye Chen said with a smile.

Ye Chen wore a smile from start to finish, and the middle-aged man felt this young man wasn’t simple.

"Are you a cop?" the middle-aged man asked with vigilance.

"Of course not, you can be assured of that," Ye Chen spoke honestly.

"Then why are you asking me to cooperate with you?" the middle-aged man asked tensely.

"You can choose not to cooperate with me, but I’m giving you a chance. If you wait until the police come to arrest you, then we won’t have anything to discuss," Ye Chen shrugged.

After saying this, he didn’t continue to stay there but instead walked toward the place.

Ye Chen’s words struck heavily in the man’s heart. He knew many things would have to be accounted for sooner or later.

He wasn’t concerned with himself, but what about his mother?

Moreover, the man did these things out of necessity. The reason he agreed to that woman was to receive a sum of money for his mother’s treatment.

Thinking that he did all this for his mother, if Ye Chen could really heal his mother, he would be relieved.

He is inherently a conscientious person, and without the need for money, he would never have done such a wicked thing.

Ever since killing that couple, he has had nightmares every day, unable to find peace for his conscience; maybe this is indeed a way of redemption.

"Sir, please stop," the middle-aged man hurriedly called after Ye Chen, who was about to leave.

"Have you thought it through?" Ye Chen asked, looking at the man.

"Yes, I’ve thought it through. Are you really not a cop?" the middle-aged man asked again, puzzled.

"I’m really not. My name is Ye Chen, so you can rest assured," Ye Chen said with a smile.

"Okay, tell me, how do you want me to cooperate with you," the middle-aged man asked, looking at Ye Chen.

"Let’s not rush into this," Ye Chen didn’t provide an answer but instead waved his hand.

He knew that no matter how he wanted this middle-aged man to cooperate, he would be willing to do so because he is a devoted son, and his mother’s life is what matters most to him.

Ye Chen felt very confident about the middle-aged man.

"Let’s go to the hospital first," Ye Chen said, looking at the middle-aged man.

"To the hospital?" Looking at Ye Chen still walking outside, the middle-aged man didn’t understand Ye Chen’s intention.

The middle-aged man was unclear about what Ye Chen was really planning since he clearly said he wanted his cooperation, yet he was now saying to go to the hospital.

Seeing Ye Chen continuing to walk forward, the middle-aged man had no choice but to follow him.

Upon reaching the sports car, Ye Chen gestured for him to get in.

The middle-aged man had seen such sports cars before, but that was his boss’s car, and that boss was almost sixty.

But Ye Chen looked under thirty and already owned such a luxurious sports car; the middle-aged man knew this young man was definitely not ordinary.

Seeing the middle-aged man standing there stunned, Ye Chen said helplessly, "Uncle, let’s hurry up, okay?"

Ye Chen’s words brought the middle-aged man back to reality, and he hurriedly got in the car.

"Tell me the hospital address," Ye Chen said indifferently.

The middle-aged man gave Ye Chen the address and sat in the passenger seat.

The sports car sped toward the hospital direction, and the middle-aged man was nervous the entire way.

If he was young, he wouldn’t feel anything about the speed of the car, but now it was different.

"Mr. Ye, slow down a bit, you’re about to scare my heart condition out," the middle-aged man said, his face pale.

Ye Chen ignored him and continued driving.

Seeing the young man in front of him having no intention to slow down, the middle-aged man had no choice but to shut his mouth and hold onto the seatbelt tightly.

Due to Ye Chen’s fast speed, what was originally an hour’s drive took only thirty-some minutes.

Arriving at the hospital entrance, Ye Chen parked the car and said to the middle-aged man, who was drenched in cold sweat, "Uncle, we’re here."

The middle-aged man hadn’t recovered from the previous tension; he felt his legs weakened as he wobbled out of the car, almost stumbling.

Seeing this, Ye Chen quickly supported the middle-aged man.

"Uncle, take it slow."

"Mr. Ye, thank you, can’t fight old age," the middle-aged man said helplessly.

Seeing the color return to the middle-aged man’s face, Ye Chen walked forward.

"Mr. Ye, wait a minute, I have something to say," the middle-aged man called out to Ye Chen’s back.

"What is it?" Ye Chen turned back and asked.

"Mr. Ye, when you see my mother, could you please not tell her the truth? I’m afraid she’ll worry," the middle-aged man asked earnestly.

"Of course, you can rest assured, Uncle. I won’t tell her about your actions, nor will I let her worry about you; that would only worsen her condition," Ye Chen said with a smile.

"That’s good, that’s good, Mr. Ye, thank you," the middle-aged man let out a long breath.

His greatest worry was his mother’s condition.
