Chapter 1265 - 1240: I’ll Figure Out a Solution
To know that Director Liu was afraid that Zhou Tao and others were anxious, he jogged all the way.
In less than five minutes, the sound of Director Liu’s footsteps could be heard.
He arrived in front of Director Zhou, panting, and said: "Director... Director Zhou, here you go. These are all the medical records and examination results since the elderly was admitted."
Zhou Tao smiled as he took the pile and began to look through them seriously.
Instantly, the ward became quiet.
Zhou Tao looked for a full half an hour, during which he sometimes frowned and sometimes shook his head.
Ye Chen knew that the elderly’s condition was not very good.
Fearing the elderly would worry, Zhou Tao looked at Ye Chen and said, "Mr. Ye, let’s have a word."
Ye Chen nodded, also calling out the middle-aged man. After all, the elderly was his mother, and he had the right to know about her condition.
"Qiang, is my illness very serious? If it doesn’t work, let’s not treat it. I don’t want to stay in the hospital anymore. Can you take Mom home?" The elderly looked at her son with a painful expression.
Before the middle-aged man could speak, Zhou Tao said with a smile: "Elderly, you don’t need to worry. You are fine, just need to undergo a minor surgery. There’s nothing to worry about."
The elderly had been a bit desperate, but upon hearing Zhou Tao’s words, her heart eased.
From Director Liu’s behavior in front of Zhou Tao and his attitude, the elderly could tell that this Director Zhou was someone significant.
Since he said so, the elderly started to believe him.
Zhou Tao then looked at the elderly and said, "Elderly, we went out just to discuss your surgical treatment plan. You can rest well, just wait for the surgery. I assure you, after the surgery, you will be as healthy as a normal person."
Fearing the elderly would worry, Zhou Tao reassured her.
Upon hearing Zhou Tao’s words, the elderly became happier and quickly said, "Okay, Director Zhou, I’ll leave it to you."
"No trouble at all. You rest well, I’ll come to see you later," Zhou Tao said and then left the ward.
Ye Chen and the middle-aged man also followed and left, leaving behind the excited Director Liu and the elderly.
The three walked out of the ward and arrived at the stairs.
Zhou Tao looked at Ye Chen and said, "Mr. Ye, I just looked at the elderly’s medical records; her condition is not optimistic."
Ye Chen was not surprised by Zhou Tao’s words, mainly because of the elderly’s age, her illness would develop very quickly.
The middle-aged man heard this and quickly said, "Director Zhou, I beg you to save my mother."
As he spoke, he knelt before Zhou Tao.
This sudden act startled Zhou Tao and Ye Chen.
Ye Chen was deeply moved by the middle-aged man’s actions, and Zhou Tao was as well.
He had seen filial sons, but someone like this middle-aged man was indeed rare.
After all, men kneel to heaven above and parents below. It takes great courage to kneel to an outsider to save one’s mother.
"Uncle Qiang, please get up, don’t do this," Ye Chen quickly said.
"Yes, brother, you’re making it difficult for me. Get up quickly. As a doctor, even if you don’t ask, I will do my utmost to save a patient’s life. Rest assured about that," Zhou Tao said while helping the middle-aged man stand up.
He then looked at the middle-aged man and asked: "Your mother’s illness is so severe; why is she staying at this hospital?"
"Director Zhou, I didn’t want to, but I have no money, and the hospitalization costs are patched together from various sources," the middle-aged man sighed.
"Honestly speaking, your mother’s condition was alright before. The treatment plan at this hospital wasn’t suitable for her, and the equipment is outdated, which worsened her condition," Zhou Tao said, looking at the middle-aged man.
He knew the middle-aged man was filial and didn’t blame him.
Zhou Tao believed that if he had some money, he wouldn’t let his mother stay at such a hospital.
"Things are as they are; let’s not talk about the past anymore. Can’t we transfer hospitals now?" Ye Chen comforted the middle-aged man, seeing his remorseful expression.
"The elderly is aged, her body is not in great shape, and her illness is severe; it’s not suitable to transfer hospitals now," Zhou Tao shook his head.
He knew given the elderly’s situation, transferring hospitals would pose great risks.
Zhou Tao’s words felt like a heavy blow to the middle-aged man, who stood there dumbfounded, trembling, repeating: "It’s all my fault for being useless; I can’t even save my own mother..."
Seeing the middle-aged man’s state, Ye Chen quickly urged: "Uncle Qiang, you can’t be like this. You must pull yourself together; the elderly can only rely on you. If you fall, who will take care of her?"
Ye Chen’s words made the middle-aged man regain his strength and quickly said, "I understand, Mr. Ye, I understand."
"Then there really are no more options? Director Zhou, please think thoroughly," Ye Chen said anxiously.
"There is a way, but it requires this hospital’s consent. I can come to this hospital to perform the surgery, bringing the necessary equipment over," Zhou Tao said with a frown.
"Having a way is good. I’ll handle this," Ye Chen said with a smile.
His words surprised Zhou Tao and the middle-aged man, as this was not something that could be done by two people; hospital consent was necessary.
After all, which hospital would permit an external expert to operate on one of its patients? It would be a direct affront, mocking their medical skills.
Ye Chen’s words also surprised those present, Zhou Tao and the middle-aged man.
This isn’t an easily resolved issue, but since Ye Chen proposed it, they chose not to say anything more.
"Mr. Ye, if you can convince the hospital, then I’ll take care of the surgery. I guarantee the elderly will recover quickly after the operation," Zhou Tao said smilingly.
"Yes, leave the hospital matter to me, and the surgery to you," Ye Chen smiled in return.
At this point, the middle-aged man frowned and said, "Director Zhou, I have no money. Can I pay later? I’ll pay as soon as I have enough."
Before Zhou Tao could speak, Ye Chen waved his hand and said, "Don’t worry about the surgery cost. I’ll handle it all."
Upon hearing Ye Chen’s words, the middle-aged man showed an excited expression and said, "Mr. Ye, thank you so much. I’m willing to do anything you ask."
The middle-aged man had originally been worried about the surgery expenses, but now Ye Chen had helped him resolve the issue.
