Starting from Robinson Crusoe
Chapter 488 - 29: Departure (Part 3)
Before departing, he was full of confidence, but as they approached the island, memories of Kosu’s poor performance and Kulu’s reticence made Sunday doubt whether he could successfully complete the mission with these two "eccentrics" by his side.
...
Due to Kosu’s initial mistake, the sailboat strayed off course.
Thankfully, Sunday noticed the error in time and corrected it, preventing them from getting lost in the vast ocean.
Even so, some delay was inevitable.
Originally, they were supposed to reach the island by 7 PM, but thanks to Kosu’s blunder, it was not until 9 PM that Sunday, standing at the bow with a handheld telescope, finally saw the outline of the island.
Through Chen Zhou’s teachings, Sunday had long understood just how vast the ocean was and how insignificant their island was in comparison to the entire Earth.
In these endless seas, every island is exceptionally rare and isn’t something you can just stumble upon while casually sailing.
Therefore, upon seeing the vague, massive shadow in the distance, he immediately determined that the course correction was successful.
Though they were tardy, they were not absent.
...
"Kosu, take a look, is this your island?"
Patting Kosu’s shoulder, Sunday handed him the handheld telescope.
After receiving a confirmation, Sunday then patted Kulu on the shoulder.
"You said your home is located on which side of the island? Quickly tell Kosu, so we have hope of finding your wife and children.
Also, get the food out quickly. As per the plan, we need to replenish our strength and prepare for action."
Although Kulu remained motionless leaning against the railing, he was actually more eager, alert, and tense than anyone else.
When Sunday’s hand touched his shoulder, he immediately sprang up like a tightly wound spring.
After hearing the instructions, he quickly and calmly removed his backpack and took out high-calorie food and water, dividing them into three portions and placing them in front of Sunday, Kosu, and himself.
Then he cleared his throat and, using the most standard Mandarin he could muster, began to tell Kosu where exactly his humble house was located on the island.
Kosu and Kulu, despite being captured at the same time, didn’t have much interaction due to the massive influx of people after the Great Tribe’s expansion, especially those from the middle and lowest tiers.
Only after hearing Kulu’s detailed description could Kosu determine the exact location of his home. 𝚏𝕣𝐞𝗲𝐰𝕖𝐛𝐧𝕠𝕧𝚎𝚕.𝐜𝚘𝗺
In Chen Zhou’s original action plan, there was no item about finding Kulu’s wife and children.
Randomly capturing a dozen or so indigenous people in the marginal areas was easy, but rescuing with a purpose would vastly increase the difficulty level.
Chen Zhou, fearing that Sunday might risk his life to help Kulu, had already instructed him to weigh his options within his capabilities.
The reason Sunday was asking now was to ascertain whether there was hope to rescue Kulu’s wife and children during this operation, which would affect the subsequent island landing path.
...
Kulu also understood this, emphasizing repeatedly to Kosu that his home was near the coast, far from the center of the tribe, in a relatively remote spot.
As long as his wife and children were still living in that little house, rescuing them would pose no risk.
Moreover, he could personally persuade his family; once his children saw him, they surely wouldn’t resist or scream.
On this point, Kosu nodded repeatedly, while Sunday remained noncommittal.
He thought to himself.
"Have you even looked at yourself? How do you resemble an indigenous person now?
If your wife and children can recognize you, that would be a miracle.
Once we enter the hut, knocking them out and tying them up would be the best choice. Letting you talk to them would just waste time."
However, Sunday didn’t voice these thoughts.
At the moment, he was holding a bun in one hand, chocolate in the other, chewing and swallowing with difficulty while occasionally having to take a sip of water to avoid choking, leaving him no time to bother with Kulu and Kosu.
Anyway, once ashore, everything would go according to his command.
Regardless of what Kulu and Kosu said, it wouldn’t make a difference.
