Chapter 1265 - 1264: I Didn’t Mean It That Way
Lin Fan, having learned about the Yun Clan’s rules from Little Qi, understood Yun Qingyao’s sentiments and momentarily lost his focus.
In the meantime, the Yun Clan members had lit a bonfire, and suddenly both men and women stood up and gathered around it.
"Brother Lin, it’s the bonfire dance, come join us!" Little Qi invited Lin Fan cheerfully.
Lin Fan came to his senses and said with a bit of sweat, "I can’t dance."
Little Qi replied, "It’s very simple, just dance along with us. Look, Sister Qing Yao is here too."
Lin Fan looked over and sure enough, Yun Qingyao had been pulled up by the young ladies of the clan and joined the dancing group.
Before Lin Fan could react, several girls enthusiastically gathered around him, some grabbing his hand and some pulling on his clothes, giggling as they led him to Yun Qingyao’s side. They were clearly doing it on purpose.
Lin Fan couldn’t just shrug them off, after all, their actions weren’t malicious. According to Little Qi, the bonfire dance is a happy dance performed by the Yun Clan whenever they have gatherings.
It seems that since the Yun Clan migrated from the Central Plains to Southern Yunnan, they have indeed been quite influenced by the local minority customs.
No wonder, Yun Sect is a Hidden Sect, and its members lead an antiquated lifestyle; there’s even no electricity here and few entertainment activities. The disciples usually busy themselves with martial arts, leading a monotonous life. They’ve learned these dances from the minorities, making them a rare form of entertainment.
Thus, Lin Fan found himself surrounded by enthusiastic young ladies, joining the bonfire dance group, and intentionally placed beside Yun Qingyao.
Yun Qingyao revealed herself before Lin Fan, and the Yun Clan members naturally understood, tactfully pairing them up.
Lin Fan stood to the right of Yun Qingyao, while the young ladies lined up on Lin Fan’s right side, holding hands, with the girl immediately next to Lin Fan taking the initiative to hold Lin Fan’s hand.
Lin Fan glanced and saw everyone holding hands; this dance clearly involved everyone forming a circle around the bonfire, dancing hand-in-hand.
Lin Fan looked at Yun Qingyao beside him; she happened to glance back, and they both felt a bit awkward.
But the dance was about to begin, and Yun Qingyao blushed, but she still took the initiative to reach out and hold Lin Fan’s hand, since Lin Fan wasn’t a Yun Clan member and surely didn’t understand the dance, Yun Qingyao needed to take the lead.
Lin Fan let her hold his hand, feeling her hand warm and smooth, her delicate skin perceptible by touch, her peerless beauty making this hand one that countless men dreamed but failed to grasp.
Yet, Lin Fan found Yun Qingyao holding his hand voluntarily.
This sent a ripple through Lin Fan’s heart.
"I don’t know how to dance," Lin Fan said with a slightly awkward smile to Yun Qingyao.
Yun Qingyao had stopped looking at Lin Fan, because every glance made her cheeks uncontrollably red; she was afraid this would make the atmosphere even more awkward if Lin Fan noticed.
"It’s okay, it’s very simple, just follow along with me, there are only a few moves," Yun Qingyao replied softly.
Since Lin Fan met Yun Qingyao, it was the first time he’d heard her speak so gently; at that moment, Yun Qingyao seemed like a different person.
"Oh," Lin Fan responded casually.
The dance began, everyone in the Yun Clan bursting into joyful laughter, started dancing; the moves indeed were not complicated, just circling the bonfire, coordinating with a few hand and foot gestures, rhythmically moving the body, waving hands, and kicking feet.
Lin Fan wasn’t naturally inclined towards dance, initially floundering a bit, but since the moves weren’t complex, he quickly learned by watching Yun Qingyao. Though with some embarrassment, he joined in with everyone.
Dancing with the Yun Clan, Lin Fan could feel everyone’s happiness. This secluded Hidden Sect nestled in the mountains found joy in such simple and primitive activities, making Lin Fan feel distanced from the clamor of the world.
In truth, this isolated lifestyle, simple and pure, is wonderful. Spending some time here would indeed be a form of spiritual cleansing.
Martial artists pursue martial arts, and undoubtedly, this lifestyle suits them.
Unfortunately, Lin Fan isn’t a martial artist; his Jianghu belongs to the bustling modern metropolis of bright lights and wild nights; ultimately, he won’t stay here long.
"Don’t misunderstand."
Suddenly, Yun Qingyao spoke unprompted from beside him.
Lin Fan paused, looking to Yun Qingyao, "What did you say?"
Yun Qingyao replied, "Have you understood our clan’s rules?"
Lin Fan nodded, "Yes."
Yun Qingyao said, "Don’t misunderstand, me revealing myself before you doesn’t mean that, I just wanted to thank you face to face, after all, you saved our Yun Sect. Therefore, you shouldn’t feel any psychological burden because of this."
Lin Fan: "..."
At this point, Granny and Yun Zhongzheng emerged from the rear hall, returning to the feast scene, seeing everyone dancing the bonfire dance, smiles appearing on their faces.
Clearly, this bonfire dance truly represents collective joy for the Yun Clan.
Seeing Lin Fan and Yun Qingyao in the group, holding hands, Yun Zhongzheng and Granny exchanged a glance, nodding knowingly.
Granny then walked over straight away, approaching Lin Fan from behind, "Mr. Lin, may I borrow you for a moment?"
Lin Fan turned to Granny, nodded; coincidentally, he had something to discuss with Granny too.
So Lin Fan released Yun Qingyao’s hand, leaving the dance group, and walked up to Granny, following her to one side.
Yun Qingyao remained in the group, yet her gaze followed Lin Fan, her expression seeming somewhat complex.
Granny led Lin Fan to the rear hall, Yun Zhongzheng didn’t follow; they arrived at a quiet room inside, Granny invited Lin Fan to sit.
"Madam, what is your command?" Lin Fan smiled.
With a kindly face, Granny looked at Lin Fan and said, "Mr. Lin, this is the first time I am speaking with you one-on-one, privately, I’d like to thank you again; today, thanks to you, the Yun Clan can continue celebrating here."
Lin Fan said: "You’re welcome, madam didn’t call me in just to thank me, right? If there’s something to say, just say it directly."
Granny smiled: "I really appreciate your straightforwardness, this is the quality I admire most in young people; I won’t beat around the bush then, Mr. Lin, you know what it means for Qingyao to reveal herself to you?"
Lin Fan nodded: "I heard from Little Qi."
Granny said: "Then I wonder what Mr. Lin thinks, would you be willing to marry Qingyao and become a son-in-law of the Yun Clan?"
Lin Fan let her get to the point, but didn’t expect her to be this direct. Lin Fan broke into a sweat, saying: "Half a day ago, the Yun Clan still saw me as an enemy, and now, less than half a day later, you ask if I’d like to become a Yun Clan son-in-law. I’d like to ask you in return, madam, if I say yes, will the Yun Sect agree?"
