Chapter 830: Are You The Overlord?
Liam left his subordinates and the rest of the SMD agents to pay their respects to Gina and the others in the restaurant, and Liam followed Jason obediently. But Liam could never have guessed that Jason was bringing him to a place like this! Liam couldn’t even wrap his head around what was going on! Every conceivable leader of the modern world was present in the room, and from the looks on their faces, it was obvious that they hadn’t been brought here of their own free will! How in the world did Jason manage to abduct all these leaders in such a short time, and what could Jason be planning right now!? Liam knew that Jason wasn’t a murderous person, so it was unlikely that Jason brought them all here just to kill them, but Liam couldn’t help but feel a nervous sweat travelling down his neck as he watched Jason climb up the stage.
A magic circle appeared on the stage, and a majestic-looking high chair with a small table beside it rose from within the magic circle. Jason went over to the chair, and he put the briefcase down on the table before he sat down calmly and finally looked at all the leaders who were still standing. Stella came to stand one step behind Jason’s chair on his right side, and she held her hands in front of her like Liam had seen some high-class maids do before. Jason brought his right hand up and slowly lowered it, and the leaders took that as a sign for them to sit down. Slowly, almost mechanically, the leaders all sat down, and Jason nodded once before he finally spoke.
"I understand you’re confused about why I gathered you all here today."
"We’re a little more than just confused. What you have done here is a crime on the highest international level! You’ll be hearing from the Supreme Court of Justice when we’re finished here!"
The Supreme Leader of North Korea suddenly spoke up from the side with a frown, and Jason turned towards the man calmly. Jason’s gaze bore into the leader’s head like a fucking laser, and even though Jason wasn’t releasing any mana at all, the leader could still feel an impossible pressure pushing him down into his seat! The Supreme Leader swallowed nervously and turned away in slight fear, and Jason kept his gaze on him for a few seconds before he finally continued.
"Like I was saying, I know you’re all confused about why I gathered you here today. I assure you that everything will be explained in due time. But before we get to the discussions, there are a few things I would like to share with you. You see, I ran into a problem recently with the previous overlord of this Domain that forced me to leave Earth for a significant amount of time. And although the journey was forced on me by circumstance, I believe it was a great blessing because of how much it opened my eyes to the world around us.
"I have been privileged enough to travel the length and breadth of this Primordial Domain and meet with many powerful people. I have seen just rulers, terrible tyrants, powerful dictators, and creatures beyond human comprehension. I’ve seen kingdoms more beautiful than anything humans have ever conceived, and worlds that were so undeveloped it was almost laughable. But the one thing that stuck with me the most in all my months of travel is the undeniable fact that humanity is severely lagging behind. As a matter of fact, it won’t be an overstatement to say that we are one of the weakest races in our Primordial Domain. Amongst all those races out there, we are closer to the bottom twenty percent than we are to the top. And that needs to change."
There was a wave of shock that passed through the room once Jason said this, and many of the leaders began to murmur amongst themselves as they wondered if Jason had gone crazy. None of the leaders wanted to really believe that the world they had lived in all this time was one of the weakest in their Primordial Domain! Although the concept of the Primordial Domain was something most humans didn’t know about, many of the leaders here knew about the Primordial Domain and the Primordial Expanse because of their position. Gaia as an organisation worked closely with many world leaders in order to intercept any inter-world traveler, so the leaders needed to know about those things to work properly with Gaia! But just knowing about the Primordial Domain did not mean that the leaders knew how powerful those worlds truly were!
There was only one man in the room who didn’t think Jason’s claim was wrong in any way, and Jason looked towards the front row as Cerci stood up calmly. Cerci looked towards Jason and silently asked for permission to speak, and Jason nodded once before Cerci asked an important question.
"Just now, as you were speaking, and earlier as you were being introduced, I heard the term Overlord being mentioned. From what Gaia has gathered, we are aware that this term is used to identify the individual who presides over a Primordial Domain and rules all the worlds within that domain. It is a prestigious title that is only granted to the most powerful mages in the Primordial Expanse. Now, I do not wish to make any false assumptions, so I am going to ask a straightforward question. Jason, are you the Overlord of the Sixth Domain?"
You could almost hear a pin drop in the room as everyone turned to Jason curiously, and many leaders could feel a strange nervousness in their hearts as they waited for an answer! It had already been bad enough that the most powerful man in the world was coming from one country, but right now, Cerci’s question had opened up an entirely new possibility to them, and they now knew that there was a chance that Jason could also be the most powerful man in their entire domain! Every single person knew that the power dynamics of the entire Domain could shift completely based on Jason’s answer! Not only would Earth become the focal point of all economic and interspecies relations in the Primordial Domain, but if what Jason said about their world being one of the weakest in this Domain was true, then Jason becoming the Overlord would expose Earth in a way that they were not ready for!
The leaders were waiting for Jason’s answer with nervous anticipation, and they all felt their deepest fears coming true as Jason leaned back in his seat and answered in a calm voice.
"You are right. Before I came back to Earth, there was a meeting with the Council of Nine and One that oversees the Primordial Expanse, and after some consideration, I was sworn in as the Sixth Seat of the council and the Overlord of this Primordial Domain."
"Holy shit."
No one knew exactly who it was that had sworn, but every single person in the room couldn’t help but feel the same way at that moment! Most of the leaders had been looking at Jason as just another powerful man who was trying to use his strength to oppress others, but right now, they realised that Jason wasn’t just some random man with a lot of strength! Jason was the Overlord of their Domain, and he had every right to sit above them at this moment!
Cerci took in a breath and let it out calmly, and Jason was surprised when he actually saw a small smile appear on Cerci’s face.
