Chapter 153: Don’t Answer

Stanley and the girls arrived by the parking spot where Ulia took them to an inconspicuous spot toward the corner of the place. There was a car there that did not stand out from any of the other ones and even seemed to fade into the background if one did not focus.

"Wait, I need to get my shoes," Stanley said, quickly running away toward the car that belonged to the police. He tried to pull open the door, but suddenly all sorts of sirens started playing.

"What are you doing?" Ulia asked in an angry tone.

"My shoes are in there," Stanley said.

The police officers quickly came after being alerted and only sighed when they realized Stanley was simply trying to get in to get his shoes.

They handed over his shoes and said their farewell, sending him away.

Stanley said his goodbyes as well and went to Ulia’s car. Sheila was already placed in the backseat, while he got to sit on the front seat this time around.

"Buckle up! It’s going to be a very loooong~ ride," Ulia said as she put on his seatbelts that lit up as she placed them around her front.

"What is that?" Stanley asked.

"What is what?" Ulia asked. "Seatbelts?"

"What’s a seatbelt?" Stanley asked.

Ulia gave an awkward smile. "Surely this isn’t the first time you’ve been inside a car, right?" she asked.

"No," Stanley answered. "I got inside the police car twice before today."

Ulia couldn’t believe it. "Dude, how do you go about your life without using a car?" she asked.

"Well, I—"

"No!" Sheila shouted from the backseat. "Stanley, don’t answer her questions."

Stanley frowned a little and turned around. "What?" he asked.

"Don’t answer her questions. None of it," she said. "During the entire time, even when I eventually fall asleep, do not answer her questions."

"Why?" he asked.

Sheila’s eyes moved to Ulia before answering. "Just trust me for now," she said. "Do not answer her questions and absolutely do not let her touch your hands."

"What?" Stanley asked.

"Too late!" Ulia shouted and reached for Stanely’s hands, but before she could do so, Stanley moved his hand away.

"Huh?"

He jumped for it once again, and once again, Stanley moved his hands away.

"Sit on your hands," Sheila suggested. "I’m going to sleep."

Stanley did as he was told and sat on his two hands so Ulia couldn’t reach him. Ulia frowned a bit. "Just why is he your 50, I just want to know," she shouted back, but Sheila had already started ignoring her.

Ulia frowned and grumbled under her breath before turning on the car and starting to drive. "Pull that thing and attach it to that thing at the bottom," she taught him about the seatbelt as she backed out from the corner.

The car flew out of the building soon after, so many hundreds of meters into the air.

This time around, Stanley wasn’t in the backseat, but rather the front where he could see everything clearly. He stared at the night sky with only the city lights that brightened the entire place, with holograms playing around every corner of the city.

He leaned forward, looking around the city in awe from the front. He was getting a full view of the city and was genuinely amazed.

Ulia stared at him with a curious look on her face. Even as she drove out of the city, Stanley was still staring at all the stuff below.

She waited for a while before they were a long way out where she could let the car drive on its own automatically. She leaned back and looked at him before asking, "Where are you from?"

Stanley slowly turned his head toward her. "Uhh..." he hesitated for a bit. "Sorry, she told me to not say, so I think it’s a good idea to not answer."

Ulia frowned a little. "Why is that? Why do you trust her so much?" she asked.

"She saved me from... she saved me," he answered. "If not for her, I would’ve neither lived to be here today nor would I have gotten my revenge."

Ulia’s eyes perked up when she heard that. "Revenge?" she asked curiously. "Did you kill someone?"

Stanley paused for a moment as he realized that he had started blurting stuff without any care. He quickly shut up, not speaking anymore after that.

"Tsk, what is she trying to hide from me?" Ulia asked in a frustrated voice. "Fine, if you’re not going to answer, I’m gonna go sleep now."

Stanley nodded and turned around as he started looking around the forest underneath them that flew past their cars.

Then, as he watched, they flew out into the ocean, the sight of which surprised him quite a lot.

Dark gray water on a cloudy day that remained tumultuous as far as the eyes could see was a sight more terrifying than Stanley could have imagined when he thought of the ocean at first.

He saw multiple cars and even bigger vehicles, most of which seemed to have something bright underneath them, that flew around them, going to the island of Eyland.

Stanley looked around the car and saw the screens in there, but since he couldn’t understand anything written on it, he could only look outside.

Ulia and Sheila both seemed to be asleep. However, he couldn’t find it in himself to sleep. All he could do was stare out of the window at the unending span of water that seemed to go on forever.

He wondered just how long it could go on for.

It took more than an hour to finally see land on the other side. A great span of yellow land showed itself to Stanley.

In this place, Stanley saw no grass or trees at all, simply yellow land with very few houses as well. He wondered what sort of place this was that had neither trees nor grass nor people living on it.

He tried to think of what he had learned, but he couldn’t remember any words associated with such a place. So, instead of trying to figure out where he was, he simply enjoyed the scenery as the car continued flying away.
