Chapter 173: Freenox City

The capital of Barson, Freenox City lay at the center of a massive lake.

It had an area of about 32 square kilometers, with the lake over double that at 78 square kilometers.

The city itself was stacked with towering skyscrapers, compact buildings, and vehicles that flew across the sky that made it look like an active beehive from a distance.

There were 8 roads leading out of the city, built on top of the lake that made it a scenic route to take. Outside the city was a less congested, smaller city that was still considered Freenox City, but was truly just a slum for poorer folks to live in.

This was also where the farmers grew crops and had cattle farms.

The car flew past this area, going into the city.

The shield between the front and the back opened up and Reena spoke up. "Gray, we’re here."

Gray opened his eyes slowly, stretching inside the car before getting up. He looked around and saw the various buildings all around him.

"Ugh!" he stretched a bit more and yawned once before speaking. "How long was I out for?"

"7 hours, the whole time of course," Reena said.

"Nice," he said, smiling. "You got some sleep?"

"You know I drive—"

"I was asking Stanley," he quickly said.

"Oh, no I didn’t sleep," Stanley quickly answered. "I didn’t want to let Reena be alone the entire time."

"You shouldn’t have worried. She’s used to it," Gray said.

The car slowly dropped from the sky and landed on the ground, where it continued driving for a while before it took a turn that sent them toward a dead end.

They drove directly into the wall and pierced through a hologram that did nothing to them.

Stanley was used to this as the entire mountain was like this back at Starhall City. He understood that only when recognized vehicles flew their way did they let it in through the very realistic hologram.

Anytime else, a strong shield would remain active that stopped anyone unauthorized from entering.

Stanley looked around, a little surprised that there was even such a massive space inside this congested city. They parked somewhere and all 3 of them left.

Everyone grabbed their own luggage, and Stanley had to carry the extra sword with him as well, the one that weight more than he did.

"Oh yeah, in case Reena forgot to mention it, don’t let anyone here know you’re a Nova," he said.

Stanley turned around in surprise. "They don’t know I’m a Nova?" he asked.

"They know there is a new one, but they don’t know it’s you. Try to lie to them if possible," he said.

"What should I say my power is then? Future sight?" he asked.

"Uhh... no, Super strength should be enough," Gray said. "Try not to make any other powers obvious if you can. We don’t want to alarm people here that there are 2 Novas amongst them."

A red-haired lady walked out of the tall building with a massive smile on her face. "To think we would have the opportunity to have you stay with us twice in the same month. I am overwhelmed," she said.

The girl was pretty, not as pretty as Amy, and even older looking. Her hair was more orange than red, unlike Amy’s.

"A month? I’m certain it’s been more than a month," Gray said.

"No, you left this building exactly 29 days and 8 hours ago. There’s still a day and a half before it becomes a full month," she said excitedly.

"Is that so?" Gray asked, his eyes clear with how freaked out he was from this situation. He was not comfortable with the woman around him at all.

"Miss Pran," Gray spoke up. "I just had a 7-hour journey and am very tired. I wish to sleep as soon as I can. Would you mind showing me to my quarters?"

"Of course," the woman said excitedly. "Come, it’s the same room as the last time."

She walked away with Gray alone, leaving Reena and Stanley behind without even so much as a greeting.

"Don’t mind her, most women that know him are infatuated with him," Reena said. "He is the strongest man in the world, so they will do anything they can to get into bed with him. Come on."

Stanley was a little surprised to hear that. He hadn’t expected something like that to be the case regarding Gray. "I guess I didn’t really interact with him outside of the training, so I don’t know what girls are like around him," he said, walking away to follow Reena.

"The ones that know him closely never fall for him though," she said. "You very quickly realize how much of an asshole he is if you spend more than a few hours with him."

"I could never imagine even seeing him in a favorable light."

Stanley wasn’t sure what to say. Reena was simply going off talking trash about Gray. Although, he had seen girls be quite angry around him.

Amy for one was perhaps the most angry with him.

Stanley cradled his new sword and continued without speaking any further, walking toward the door. Red lights suddenly blared and he was stopped.

"Please stop, we’ll have to check you," a man said and started checking Stanley. He mad a circle with his fingers and looked through it.

"Hmm, what’s that in your hand, a sword?" he asked.

Stanley nodded.

"It seems unlicensed though," the man said. "Do you have a license for it?"

"License?" Stanley looked at the man with a confused look before turning to Reena for advice.

Reena sighed. "Gray!" she shouted at the man who had already walked a lot far away.

Gray stopped and turned around. "What?" he asked.

"This sword isn’t licensed. Did the engineers not create a license for it?" she asked.

"Ah, no," he said. "It would take time to license it, so I picked it up and brought it. Don’t worry though, it was completed when I brought it."

Reena looked at Stanley and pointed toward Gray. "It’s that idiot’s fault," she said.

Stanley stood there, somewhat confused as to what he was supposed to do now. Where was he supposed to find a license?

"Check if it’s a bomb," the woman shouted. "If it’s not, let it be."

"Yes, director," the man spoke and asked Stanley to pass him the sword.

"It’s heavy," Stanley said as he brought it next to the man. "Will you be able to hold it?"

"Oh, how heavy is it?" the man asked with an interested face. "2 kilograms? I don’t know why anyone would walk around with a sword that hea—"

The man’s eyes changed when he realized he couldn’t hold the weight of the sword. He tripped by the weight and hit his chin on the blade before Stanley quickly held onto the weight of the sword.

He had only momentarily pulled his arm away and the man had nearly been wounded.

The man quickly got up, not wounded at all, and looked at Stanley as if he were a freak. "What the hell is that?" he asked. "How heavy is that?"

"Uhh... 80 kilograms, I think," Stanley mentioned. He wasn’t sure exactly how heavy it was, but that was what he felt it was.

"No way!" he shouted. "It must be heavier."

"Is it?" Stanley asked, unsure. "Let me hold it while you check."

He slowly unwrapped the sword, letting the silver metal gleam in the bright natural light.

It was also his own first time seeing the metal in such light, and he couldn’t help but feel amazed by the sword again.

The sword had a blue hue that he had missed during the night along with a golden accent on the handle and crossguard.

The large red gen on the base of the cross guard shined even more brightly during the day, making Stanley wonder just why there was a jewel there on his sword.

"Woah! that’s a nice-looking sword," the man said, looking all over it. He brought out some sort of tech and scanned the sword.

"A massive plasmium core?" the man was surprised. "What’s this useful for?"

"I... don’t know," Stanley said, looking toward Gray hoping for an answer, but the man was gone.

"Does it matter?" Reena asked. "Please just check if it had a danger of exploding or not."

"Oh, no. The core is very stable," the man said. "No chance of random explosions."

The man touched around a bit, checking for sharpness, tapping the red gem. Once he realized nothing was happening, he gave up and let them go in.

They were taken to their room to rest, where Stanley put aside the sword. He was incredibly tired, so he fell asleep not even 10 minutes later.

When he woke up, it was dark outside. He walked out of the room to get something to eat and went to Reena’s room to go with her.

However, when he went to the room, he realized that she wasn’t there at all. When he tried finding her, he was told that she had already left to scout the Yardin city for the mission.

’So early?’ he thought. He had at least expected her to wait for a day.

His wristwatch buzzed a bit and he saw that he was getting a call from Gray.

"Have you eaten yet?" he asked.

"No, just woke up," Stanley said. "I’m about to go eat now."

"Alright, eat a small meal and come find me in the Training room on the lowest floor," Gray said. "Also bring your sword. I’ll teach you how to use it."
