Strongest Nova: Path of Vengeance
Chapter 185: Mission Start
Stanley and Sheila arrived by the Triglow city a day later after their briefing. They were the only ones that were supposed to handle the Hunters of this city, so they had to come and scout before anything.
Sheila was supposed to come here all alone, but there wasn’t much point in Stanley staying behind alone. He would rather be here and help her in case something important came up.
He looked outside the vehicle and saw the small city. Small as it was, it was still massive for Stanley. Especially with towering buildings, it was big enough to be a problem.
They quickly flew to a safe house where they could stay in. Every city always had one, and so did this one.
Stanley and Sheila quickly unloaded and went to get something to eat. The safe house had a stocked refrigerator and pantry, so they had no problem for what they would be eating while they were there.
Once they were done eating, they started planning on what they were going to do.
"You can’t be seen anywhere, so you will have to remain hidden here for now," Sheila said.
Stanley nodded. "When will you start scouting?" he asked.
"I already have," Sheila said, nodding toward the computer that was running in the distance. "It is currently scanning the faces and chips of every single person that is in this city."
"Every single person?" Stanley found it quite amazing. "What happens after you scan them all?"
"Its keeping a list of people who are in the Hunters gang, or people who have come close to it. Once we find everyone we can through this, we will have a general idea of where the Hunters gang is."
"After that, I go to work," she mentioned.
"This is usually a multi-person job, isn’t it?" Stanley asked.
"It is," Sheila said. "But I will be enough this time around. Its a sigle gang, so I won’t have to cast a wide net to catch them all. Also, you are here, so I don’t need to do a lot of work, do I?"
"I hope you aren’t overestimating my abilities," Stanley said.
"I’m sure I’m estimating perfectly," Sheila said before pressing something on the computer. "Damn! Its found 30 people already that are at least affiliated with the Hunters."
Stanley got close and looked at them.
"Some of their powers are even already here," Sheila said. "You will have to study them while I ma out in the next few days."
Stanley nodded.
The next day, Sheila left for her work. Stanley worried that she would be alone in a gang full of terrible people, but she was used to it already, so there wasn’t much worry he needed to hold.
He spent his time looking through the list of gang members and their powers, and reading through their history made him feel terrible about them all.
Protection fee, robbery, battery and assault, murder, sexual assault, blackmail, and everything else in between were crimes committed by members of this gang. Even the ones that didn’t commit the crime itself were complicit of it as they gained from these crimes.
He learned about them for 3 days in a row, each night of which Sheila returned with a new set of information that they added into their log to understand more about the gang.
After 3 days of scouting, Sheila was done.
"The most anyone gathers in their 12 floor building is around 6 pm in the evening. If we want to get an upperhand, we’ll have to attack at that time," she said.
Stanley nodded and checked the time. It was 9 pm at night, so he couldn’t start right now. He was about to say that they could do it tomorrow, but that didn’t work either.
"When do we start again?" Stanley asked. "How long will we have to wait for?"
"Until the other scouts are done scouting. We need to launch a simultaneous offensive so that they can’t warn their friends in the other cities," Sheila said.
Stanley nodded. ’Then we might have to wait a week more," he said. "I hope we don’t have to wait for too long or they might start doing things differently."
"I don’t think they will," Sheila said. "This should be an easy task for everyone."
"Are you sure?" Stanley asked. "Just because it is easy for us, surely it isn’t easy for everyone."
"Even the ones that usually struggle shouldn’t struggle much," Sheila said. "The only difficulty about this mission is the number of people we have to deal with at once."
"Aside from that, there is absolutely no difficulty," Sheila said. "And given the fact that there are so many people involved, the difficulty is a lot low."
"If any, you might have the mot difficult task," Sheila said. "You will have to fight through the building full of people."
Stanley nodded. "Is there a way to tell who to kill and who to spare?" Stanely asked. "I don’t believe I have to go for all of them, right?"
"You can if you want to," Sheila said. "There is nothing wrong with that. But... if you decide to let them live, that’s alright too. Our main objective here is to put an end to their gang. As long as the main ones at the top are dead, that is more than a success."
Stanley smiled. "Good," he said.
Sheila went on small scouting missions the next 3 days to make sure she didn’t miss anything or to make sure everything was still the same.
At night, they would talk for a while and go to sleep after eating some meal. There wasn’t much for either of them to do this time around.
Then, 3 days later, they finally got the word from Director Nona that the next day at 7 would be the time of attack.
Everyone prepare, including Stanley.
Then, the next day, Stanley wore his uniform and placed his sword on his back. It was quite sharp this around, but he still walked around with it bare.
"Don’t forget your mask," Sheila reminded and handed him his watch. "You need to hide your face, right?"
"Right, thank you," Stanley said and wore the mask before finally walking out into the walkway.
Sheila held his arm as they walked together through the streets arm in arm. Thanks to that, even the people that walked past them did not notice either of them at all.
Sheila’s concealment power was quite strong. It wasn’t just nmormal invisibility at all where one could be instead heard. Her concealment was basically an absence of almost everything.
Even light disappeared where she was, turning her into a blob of dark smoke to others. At this moment, Stanley was the same as well.
No one saw him and no one judged him at all. No one even noticed the giant sword he carried around.
"Here," Sheila said after walking with him for a few minutes.
Stanley looked at the building next to him and looked at the time. "2 more minuets," he said.
"We wait then," Sheila said softly. She stared at her clock too, while Ning looked at the people that walked into the houses that were empty, almost as if they owned them.
That was the arrogance of the gangsters.
"Any moment now," Sheila said, focusing on the watch on her hand. It went from 6:58 to 6:59. And then, it was finally 7 pm.
The time of the raid was here.
"Go!" Sheila said.
Stanley nodded, and ran into the building in a very swift manner of started taking care of things.
* * * * *
Gray walked into the building of the Hunters in another city he was assigned to and quickly got into the battle as well.
People realized someone had intruded and they started shooting at Gray. However, not a single bullet of theirs touched Gray at all.
In fact, most seemed to even reflect back at the attackers as well. Several of the people in the group were most definitely out cold from the bullets landing on them.
"Be careful," one man shouted. "He can—" 𝐟𝕣𝗲𝕖𝕨𝗲𝐛𝗻𝗼𝐯𝗲𝚕.𝗰𝚘𝐦
One person tried to warn the others, but his head turned unnaturally, twisting in another direction as he died right there.
The people shouted and started running away, but Gray didn’t let them have any chances of leaving. Men or women, their head fell throughout the first floor of the building they inhabited.
And then, he walked up stairs.
Even before he got to the 2nd floor, he noticed that everyone was ready to kill him. However, that was barely any problem for him at all.
He walked through the stairs of the 2nd floor and was greeted with a room full of gas that was started by someone.
"Poison," Gray realized. His main weakness.
However, since he wore a mask at all times for exactly this reason, there was no need for him to panic. Instead, he made a chuckle that spread through the floor like the voice of the god of death.
"Poison isn’t going to do anything to me at all," Gray told the peoiple. "You should have given up front the start."
Gray felt like laughing, but to the others, there couldn’t be a sound taht was more terrifying thatn anything they heard of people.
Even that feeling lasted momentarily for them as Gray killed most of them and knocked out the other ones, before moving to the 3rd floor.
Similar instances were happening everywhere as the members of the AAA were slowly but surely getting rid of the members of the Hunters gang.
