Strongest Nova: Path of Vengeance
Chapter 357: Repeat!
To activate Stanley’s newly awakened power of Time Loop, he needed a massive amount of energy. Thanks to how much energy he had gained from the three Nova dying, this was not an issue.
Once Time Loop was activated, he needed to set up 3 conditions.
First: He needed to set the length of time he would be inside of this loop.
Second: He needed a fail condition.
Third: He needed a win condition.
After activating Time Loop, without reaching these certain conditions, even Stanley couldn’t do anything himself. He, just like everyone else in there, was trapped as well.
So, he chose the best conditions he could.
The time of the loop would be exactly 10 minutes. No more, no less. When those 10 minutes were over, the loop would automatically restart.
10 minutes seemed few when looked at by itself, but it was still over 40 hours when one considered that he would be fighting in slowed-down time the entire time.
The fail condition —the condition upon whose fulfillment the loop would restart— was set to be Stanley’s own demise.
And the win condition -the condition upon whose fulfillment, the loop would finally be broken— was set as Raven’s death.
As soon as he activated the Time Loop, Stanley felt danger from his left as something came for him in the darkness of this world of shadow he had been brought into.
Stanley had ample time to dodge it, but he didn’t. He simply took a deep breath and waited for the attack to land. It landed directly on the side of his head, and his thoughts went dark.
Repeat!
Stanley came back to consciousness and felt the same sense of danger from last time, except it was a bit further away this time. He dodged the attack easily, and swung his sword, slashing at the thing that attacked him.
He cut through something thick and hard and knew it had to be the woman’s hand.
A few different things came for Stanley at once and he jumped from where he was. He swung at the things that had come for him. He felt something hard but brittle break open with each attack, as though something hollow inside had been destroyed.
He remained in the air for an extended period of time as gravity’s effects were slowed down on him as well. He tried twisting his body around to dodge the attacks that were being thrown at him, but that was impossible.
Thankfully, because time was slowed down, except for the woman whose arm he had definitely cut off, and was likely healing somewhere, everything else was moving slowly.
Stanley remained in the air for a while and swung down at something that had barely begun to emerge. He sighed as he realized he was going to remain there in the air for a long time.
So, he decided to start over instead. The slowed-down time returned to normal, and the sharp objects in the darkness that were coming to get him struck him from all sides at the same time.
While it didn’t puncture past the skin, Stanley was still hurt by all the shadow spikes. They began attacking him in the same spot over and over, but they couldn’t do the job.
’Just kill me already!’ Stanley thought and finally felt a great sense of danger. The woman came for him from the right and...
Repeat!
Stanley swung his sword to the side before the woman even began attacking. He cut through her hands and felt the sharp things that grew behind him, trying to attack him.
He got low and swung his sword all around, shattering through every single thing that was coming toward him. He stood up, his eyes closed in the darkness and searched for any other thing he could feel with his senses.
He waited for a few moments and felt just the tiniest noise coming from far to his right. He dashed immediately with his eyes closed and stopped right as his senses warned him.
He stopped directly in front of whatever he had arrived at and swung his sword. Upon slashing in front of him, he realized he had cut through a Crawler.
He prayed it was not Freddy, but at this point, he couldn’t choose. It was him or the Shadow Nova, and he would choose himself every time.
Stanley felt the woman attack him from behind him, coming out of the shadow. He jumped upward high enough that the woman couldn’t reach it. Except, he wasn’t going to be at the mercy of others in the air.
The sword’s weight suddenly increased to become thousands and thousands of tons. In slowed time, the momentum the sword suddenly gained was enough to act like a horizontal pole that was sturdily attached to the ground.
Stanley climbed above the sword and pushed against it to lunge downward while simultaneously changing its weight back to nothing. As he came down, he swung the sword back down, the weight of which reached incredibly high.
He slashed at the ground where the woman was coming from and cut right into her.
Stanley wasn’t sure what part of her he had cut, but he had definitely cut something. He tried to attack one more time, but the woman disappeared once again. He could hear the light plop sound she made as she disappeared back into the shadows.
Stanley cut down a few more spikes that were coming for him and shouted out loud in regular time, "Is that all you’ve got?"
"Don’t think you’ve won just because you haven’t been killed right away," Raven’s voice came from all around him. "Your death will arrive sooner or later."
Stanley sensed danger to the right and turned around just in time to see something glow slightly red. Within moments, he realized the danger and slowed down time.
Even in slowed time, he saw the disastrous bullet that came for him. So, he tried to dodge.
Only, everything around him was covered in sticky black strings that hindered him just enough that the bullet had the time to land on him.
Stanley sighed and gave up.
Repeat!
