Super Island Tycoon
Chapter 1052 - 1051: Opponent
The Shorty looked at him with satisfaction as he continuously adjusted assignments and made deployments. He was very grateful to have a good eye for recognizing talent.
This commander was originally a member of the Capital City’s garrison troops. Later, due to issues with his conduct, he was transferred from the Capital City and dispatched to a distant satellite to be a lone commander.
Once, during a casual conversation, Shorty learned about this commander’s situation. What piqued his curiosity was not the commander’s encounter, but the fact that people spoke of him while shaking their heads and sighing.
According to others, this commander was extremely capable. Yet, due to a minor issue, his adversaries took the opportunity to retaliate against him, stripping him of his rights and exiling him to a distant planet—a treatment that seemed excessive.
Shorty stood nearby, outwardly appearing oblivious to their conversation. In reality, he mentally noted every word they exchanged. A few days later, an order summoned the commander back from the remote satellite to the planet where Shorty’s stronghold was located.
The commander initially had no idea what was happening. In his prime, he had been subjected to such unfair treatment for a minor offense. His heart had already hardened, and he had even contemplated suicide several times.
Now, mysteriously transferred here, he was indifferent to everything. However, when Shorty personally greeted him as he disembarked the spaceship, he was so moved he nearly shed tears.
Shorty was a person of high standing. As a soldier, the commander fully understood that someone of such prominence had come to receive him personally. Despite his currently miserable situation, someone valued him highly. If even an ordinary person acted like this, he would feel deeply grateful.
Therefore, the instant he saw Shorty as he stepped off the spacecraft, he regarded him as a confidant.
Especially when Shorty straightforwardly issued an order and announced that he was the highest-ranking officer stationed on this satellite, he fell to his knees amidst the crowd and cried loudly.
He wept partly because he had finally found an outlet for his wrongs and grievances, and partly because he was moved by the recognition he had received.
Fatty, a veteran in political maneuvering, had spent most of his life engaged in all manner of intrigues, mastering methods to ally with or undermine others like no one else.
For instance, his personal arrival to receive the commander, coupled with admitting in front of many people the commander’s high-ranking status, was all a means to make the commander completely loyal to him.
This was his base, and he needed someone he trusted completely and who would absolutely obey him to guard his final territory.
The commander before him was the candidate he had handpicked as the most suitable.
The commander indeed had talents. After listening to Shorty recount his experiences on the Delmar Planet and the entanglements with three Aliens, he pondered for a long time.
According to his superior, these three were indeed formidable, and from his tone, there was no chance for negotiation between them—only life or death, with no third option.
So how to deal with these three? The commander began to think carefully.
Among these three, the man undoubtedly possessed Superpowers, while the two with him seemed relatively weaker. It appeared that they could only be tackled through those two.
As for how to handle the man afterward, that was a problem for another time.
Confronting the two directly would certainly not be wise. In Shorty’s narrative, he heard about a battle involving several special agents joining forces against an Alien.
As a military officer, he understood how terrifyingly powerful those special agents could be when working together to confront one person.
Under such circumstances, they couldn’t defeat the Alien and had to retreat with heavy losses. This naturally made him wary.
Based on this, even if all their personnel from the base confronted this Alien, they wouldn’t stand a chance, let alone with the Alien having accomplices.
They included an accomplice as strong as her and a man even stronger than her.
The commander shook his head; with their current power, they were no match for these three. If any managed to survive, they should consider themselves lucky.
Given this situation, the best attack method was to destroy their vehicle in space.
No matter what, this method held far more promise than facing them directly.
While the commander was still contemplating, a messenger entered to report that he had received an urgent document from the Capital City on Delmar Planet.
The commander and Shorty glanced at each other. Normally, their base would receive various directives from the Delmar Planet’s military command.
However, it was peace time, so urgent documents were very rare—none had arrived in decades.
The commander opened the display to watch the document from Delmar Planet together with Shorty.
It was a video document. From the footage, they could see the headquarters on Delmar Planet.
As usual, there was nothing special about the headquarters. They even saw a guard yawning out of boredom.
Patiently, the two continued watching.
After a while, the figure of a man appeared at the entrance of the headquarters, speaking to the guard on duty.
While the commander wondered why even such a trivial scene was recorded, he felt Shorty beside him tense up.
The commander understood; this man was undoubtedly the Alien his superior feared.
This was the man who had frightened his previously arrogant and domineering superior into a panicked retreat to this place.
The commander kept watching the subsequent footage.
He could hardly believe his eyes. Was the man in the footage still human?
Witnessing his phantom-like presence within the headquarters, brutally killing without hesitation, and his skilled, ruthless methods against large numbers of guards and trained operatives, the bodies and blood left in his wake shook the commander to his core.
This was someone he could not contend with!
The commander chuckled to himself; he couldn’t even describe this opponent as human.
