"I’m going to Jiangning with you!" Qin Mengyao said nonchalantly.

Ye Fan was at a loss for words. It wasn’t just him; even Qin Yanran couldn’t understand her sister’s decision. Of course, Qin Yanran was the one who was most annoyed. Her list of rivals was long enough already. Letting her younger sister tag along would be a disaster. It’s like rearing a tiger that will eventually bite her! At this rate, my little sister will probably get to him before I do. Therefore, she absolutely could not let Qin Mengyao go.

"You can’t go to Jiangning!" Qin Yanran said sharply. "The family is busy. If you insist on going, I’ll report you to the Family Head!"

"Threatening me? Go on, I dare you to report it!" Qin Mengyao scoffed. As sisters, she knew exactly what her elder sister was thinking. It was simple: Yanran was afraid she would steal her man. Of course, Qin Mengyao did harbor such intentions, and her sister certainly couldn’t control where she went. Today, she was determined to rebel.

So, Qin Yanran immediately went to report the situation to the family. Within the Qin Family, the ultimate decision-maker was the Family Head. However, when she presented her case, the Family Head simply agreed to let Qin Mengyao go to Jiangning with Ye Fan. Qin Yanran was stunned, feeling as if the entire world had betrayed her.

At that point, Ye Fan tried to intervene. "Mengyao, the Qin Family is incredibly busy right now. It wouldn’t be right for you to leave. Why don’t you wait a while? I’ll come back to get you later, okay?"

"Impossible!" Qin Mengyao’s tone was indisputable.

Ye Fan grew frustrated. What is this nonsense? Am I not allowed any personal space or a moment of peace? Left with no other choice, he departed with Qin Mengyao in tow.

On the plane, they kept a low profile, having bought tickets for economy class. At one point, Qin Mengyao leaned her head on Ye Fan’s shoulder. Ye Fan felt a little uncomfortable. They really looked like a young couple, so he had no choice but to say, "Mengyao, we can’t be this intimate."

"Lift your head," Ye Fan said, exasperated.

"No way," Qin Mengyao replied. "I like it, and you can’t tell me what to do!" Not only did she refuse to move, she snuggled in even closer. Ye Fan was utterly helpless and could only let her have her way, though he made a firm resolution in his mind. I, Laozi, have navigated a sea of beauties for years and have never been tempted. You think you can conquer me? Impossible!

Then again, with Ye Fan, even the impossible often became possible.

Finally, after they got off the plane, Qin Mengyao tightly held Ye Fan’s hand. "Brother-in-law, where are we going now?" she asked.

Looking at Qin Mengyao and then thinking of the tigress at home, Su Qingxue, Ye Fan felt truly stuck. If Qin Mengyao and Su Qingxue were to meet, the two women would surely raise hell. The thought of that scenario terrified him. After all, the situation with Su Qingxue and Fang Nan was already a cautionary tale. Sending Qin Mengyao over to Fang Nan’s place would also surely end in disaster. Although Fang Nan wasn’t as beautiful as Su Qingxue, her explosive temper was ferocious. Her reputation as the "violent police beauty" wasn’t for nothing, after all. So, Ye Fan was in a real bind.

Ye Fan smiled. "Because I have good news! You haven’t found a place in Jiangning yet, right? Staying in a hotel is inconvenient, but I have a friend’s apartment that would be perfect for you. The place is lovely and, more importantly, very safe. She went abroad and won’t be back for a long time, so you can stay there for now."

However, Qin Mengyao immediately retorted, "No, I want to live with you!"

Ye Fan nearly collapsed. "That’s not going to work! My place in Jiangning isn’t convenient. Just stay there for now, and I promise I’ll come visit you often!"

"Fine," Qin Mengyao said. "But if you don’t come visit me, I’ll tell my sister that you’re giving me the cold shoulder!" She was clearly threatening him.

Ye Fan laughed inwardly. If that’s the case, your sister would probably be thrilled! That’s likely the exact outcome she’s hoping for. And of course, it’s what I want too!

Aloud, he said, "You’re a stranger here in Jiangning; how could I possibly give you the cold shoulder? You’re overthinking things. Come on, let’s go now."

"Wait!" Qin Mengyao suddenly circled him, inspecting him from all angles. Ye Fan seriously wondered if there was something wrong with the silly girl’s head. What else could he say? "I knew it!" she declared, stopping in front of him. "You’re finding a place for me just to get me out of the way so you can go fool around with other women! What a clever scheme!"

You’re only figuring that out now? A little late, don’t you think? Ye Fan thought.

Outwardly, however, he said, "That’s not it at all. Besides, I have some influence here in Jiangning. If you run into any trouble, just give me a call."

"Hmph! You’re so disingenuous!" Qin Mengyao said, annoyed.

To change the subject, Ye Fan asked her, "Mengyao, you didn’t come to Jiangning just for fun, did you?"

"Of course not! I came here on serious business!" Qin Mengyao announced proudly.

"What serious business?" Ye Fan asked.

"What is Jiangning most famous for? Isn’t it the Huayu Film Industry and the Huayu Art School?" Qin Mengyao said. "I came here to become a teacher at the Huayu Art School! Here’s my letter of appointment! And brother-in-law, if you’re good, I can even introduce you to some pretty students from the school behind my sister’s back!" she added, tempting him.

"I’m not that kind of person," Ye Fan said sternly. "If you mention this again, I’ll get angry."

It must be said that Ye Fan was speaking completely against his conscience. If it started thundering right then, he probably wouldn’t have dared to utter those words. With the campus belle and the most beautiful teacher both having a crush on him, he still had the nerve to claim he wasn’t that kind of person. He was just asking for a beating.

After much effort, Ye Fan finally brought Qin Mengyao to the apartment where Tang Yurou used to live. He breathed a huge sigh of relief. As long as he could get this little witch settled, he could finally have some peace.

Just as they arrived at the apartment, Qin Mengyao’s expression changed instantly. "Brother-in-law," she said, "this is obviously a woman’s room!"
