Chapter 138 - 137 The Beautiful Flight Attendant
After returning to the bustling city, the Shadow Demon Queen bid farewell to Ye Fan. She had to get back to her headquarters to refine the dark green Crystal Stones.
Ye Fan stayed with Tang Yurou for two more days. Knowing there were many matters to attend to back in the Divine Land, he eventually had to bid her farewell as well. He had previously thought a vampire catastrophe would erupt in Europe, but since he had already incinerated the vampire noble, that disaster was averted for the time being. This meant Tang Yurou was quite safe. He asked Spencer and Prince William to look after her and help out when necessary, then set off on his journey back to the Divine Land.
The airport was crowded upon his arrival. People from many different countries enjoyed visiting this city of romance, and Ye Fan saw all sorts of individuals from various walks of life.
"Hello!"
Ye Fan turned, surprised to find the long-legged flight attendant. He hadn’t expected to encounter her again.
"Hello!" he replied. "I didn’t expect to see you again!"
"Me neither. And... thank you."
"You’re welcome!" Ye Fan said with a smile.
"My name is Mu Wanxin," she introduced herself.
"And I’m Ye Fan!"
After they exchanged names, Mu Wanxin couldn’t help but feel that Ye Fan exuded a gentlemanly demeanor. She had looked for him at the airport that day but couldn’t find him. Furthermore, she had kept a close watch on her flight rosters but still saw no sign of his name. As far as she was concerned, she owed him her gratitude.
She asked, "Mr. Ye, what time is your flight?"
"Three in the afternoon," Ye Fan replied.
That was still a full four hours away. Even Ye Fan felt he had arrived too early.
"Mr. Ye," Mu Wanxin said, "please let me treat you to a meal to thank you for standing up for me that day!"
"Oh, there’s no need for that!" Ye Fan replied.
But Mu Wanxin insisted, "No, Mr. Ye, I insist. It’s the least I can do!"
"Alright then," he conceded. "In that case, I’d be happy to accept."
As a man, Ye Fan felt he couldn’t refuse an invitation from a beautiful woman, especially not a long-legged beauty like Mu Wanxin.
Does she like me? Is she just using this as an excuse? he whimsically wondered. In truth, Mu Wanxin genuinely just wanted to treat him to a meal out of simple gratitude.
Just then, a little girl tugged on Ye Fan’s pant leg.
"What can I do for you, little one?" he asked with a wry smile. He spoke fluent English; after living abroad for so many years, it came naturally to him. While he knew other languages, besides his native tongue from the Divine Land, he used English the most.
"Hello, handsome gentleman!" the little girl said. "Buy a flower for your beautiful Princess!"
She held up an exquisite basket of flowers, shaking it gently in front of Ye Fan. The flowers were indeed lovely—a colorful assortment with one of each kind. The little girl had certainly put some thought into it.
"Mr. Ye, let’s go," Mu Wanxin whispered hurriedly. Buying flowers at the airport was a sure way to get ripped off, even from a cute little girl.
Ye Fan just smiled and asked the girl, "How much for one?"
The little girl gestured with her fingers, indicating the price: ten per flower. And this wasn’t ten Shen Zhou Coins, but ten euros—enough to buy an entire bouquet.
Mu Wanxin was about to stop Ye Fan from splurging, but he had already taken out three hundred euros. "Little one," he said to the girl, "sell me the basket too!"
"Okay! You are the most romantic Knight, you will surely conquer the Princess’s heart!"
The little girl handed the basket to Ye Fan.
He couldn’t help but feel a little awkward, and Mu Wanxin felt the same. They weren’t a couple, so the girl’s words made her face flush red.
Ye Fan handed the flower basket to Mu Wanxin. "For you," he said. "Flowers for a beauty."
"Thank you!"
Mu Wanxin didn’t refuse, knowing it was a kind gesture. This colorful, varied basket was far more touching than a simple bouquet of roses. Although she turned down hundreds of suitors bearing flowers every year, she didn’t refuse this time.
The two of them found a restaurant inside the airport. It was filled with flight attendants and captains from various airlines, as many of them chose to dine there.
When Ye Fan glanced at the menu, he realized how expensive the dishes were. He would have been happy if Mu Wanxin had just treated him to fast food, but she had insisted on a proper meal. He did a quick calculation and saw that a single meal would cost at least 1,500 euros—Mu Wanxin’s entire monthly salary. While the amount was a trifle to him, he couldn’t let her spend a whole month’s earnings on him.
In truth, Mu Wanxin was also panicking inside. She usually ate at the fast-food places on the first floor and never imagined the restaurant on the second floor would be this expensive. Seeing the prices, she felt a bitterness she couldn’t voice. But there was no helping it; since she had promised to treat him, she couldn’t possibly back out now. It wasn’t that she was unwilling to spend the money—she simply didn’t have that much on her.
"I think a plate of pasta would be fine," Ye Fan said, trying to help her out of the awkward situation.
"Mr. Ye, it’s okay! Just order whatever you want, it’s my treat!" Mu Wanxin said, her embarrassment clear.
Ye Fan laughed. "Hahaha, I’m not particular about food. As long as it fills my stomach, I’m happy."
As they were chatting, three people approached their table. It was a man, shamelessly flirting with two flight attendants. From his uniform, it was clear he was an airline captain. What was truly shocking, however, was that they were Shen Zhou people. It is always a small minority that ruins the reputation of a larger group, or even an entire nation, and these three were clearly such people. Many onlookers pointed and whispered, but the trio paid them no mind, laughing brazenly despite their shameful behavior. They had no sense of decency.
Ye Fan and Mu Wanxin noticed them just as the trio saw the pair and walked right over.
When they reached the table, the two women gave Mu Wanxin sneering looks. The captain let go of them and addressed her. "So this is where you are. On a date with your lover, I see!"
He shot Ye Fan a disdainful look, noting that he had only ordered a plate of noodles. How pathetic.
Mu Wanxin retorted, "Guo Dong, watch your mouth and show some respect!"
So his name is Guo Dong, Ye Fan thought. I’m surprised a guy with a personality like that is still alive. He should have been beaten to death years ago. It’s a miracle he’s made it this far.
"Isn’t it true?" Guo Dong shot back. "You’d rather reject me to be with a man who can only afford noodles? Mu Wanxin, don’t you have any aspirations?"
Mu Wanxin was about to speak, but Ye Fan cut in first. "You shouldn’t judge anyone or anything by appearances alone." He continued, "Besides, even if she chooses to be with someone who can only afford a bowl of noodles, that’s her choice. Who are you to question it?"
Guo Dong was nearly speechless with shame, but he quickly managed a retort. "I’m her superior! I have every right to manage her!"
The two other flight attendants gave Mu Wanxin derisive looks. They knew she was in trouble. Although Guo Dong was just a captain now, he was about to be promoted to director. In ten days at most, he would have the authority to fire Mu Wanxin. They absolutely could not afford to offend him.
Mu Wanxin said firmly, "Guo Dong, you haven’t been promoted yet, so you have no authority over me. Now, please leave. You’re disturbing our meal."
"Fine. Very well," he sneered. "Just you wait. The day will come when you’ll be on your knees begging me. The very first thing I’ll do after my promotion is fire you!"
With that, Guo Dong turned on his heel, and the two flight attendants scrambled after him.
In the end, Ye Fan held back. He had been a hair’s breadth from smashing his fist into Guo Dong’s head, but at the last moment, he managed to suppress the impulse.
