Chapter 583 - 582: Divine Talisman Intimidation
At that moment, Ye Fan was weakly kneeling on the ground. The demonic mist’s earlier assault had nearly consumed his entire soul, and he would have been lost if not for the last-minute salvation from the Crystal Stone. He knew that even with his powerful Ancestor Realm Bloodline and mighty Divine Dragon Power, he could not resist something that eroded the soul.
The demonic mist yelled at Ye Fan, "Boy, which clan are you from?"
He looked at Ye Fan with fear. More importantly, he sensed how formidable Ye Fan truly was.
Ye Fan immediately asked, "What clan?"
"You’re not from the Divine Race! You’re not from the Divine Race!" he shouted back in terror. 𝕗𝐫𝐞𝕖𝕨𝐞𝗯𝚗𝕠𝘃𝐞𝚕.𝐜𝗼𝚖
Ye Fan was bewildered. It was true that he was not of the Divine Race; he was a mortal from the Human Clan’s secular world. He didn’t understand why this creature was so terrified of mortals, who were, after all, far weaker than the Divine Race.
But now, Ye Fan was full of confidence. Radiating the light of the Divine Talisman, he no longer feared the monster. Even if this creature was more dreadful than the Divine Race, he remained unafraid.
He walked toward the monster. It quickly retreated, not daring to get close—no, it was the soul-captivating light it didn’t dare approach. The monster had thought Ye Fan was a lamb for the slaughter, never imagining the lamb would turn out to be a frightful beast, one even more terrifying than itself. Completely intimidated by the light emitting from within Ye Fan, it could only watch as he approached fearlessly.
The creature yelled, "Don’t come any closer! You can take those things! I’ll let you live!" It was, without a doubt, trying to negotiate.
But Ye Fan said coldly, "Have you lost your mind? Bargain with me at a time like this? There is no room for negotiation. Now, you either live or you die!"
The creature roared in anger, "Boy, don’t push me too far!"
"Me, pushing you too far?" Ye Fan retorted. "If it weren’t for this power hidden within me, I would have already become your prey. You’re ruthless? I’m even more ruthless!"
"Then what do you want?"
The creature was already afraid, its expression a mixture of fear and reverence. In its prime, it might have risked severe injury from the light to kill Ye Fan, but now, it didn’t dare. Moreover, the hidden injury within its body flared up—a wound inflicted by this very same light back in the Ancient Times!
Ye Fan said coldly, "Your life!" At this point, he was ready to go all out. The creature was a nuisance, and he decided to let it taste true despair.
Then I’ll threaten him. That’s my style as an overlord. While I may be a poor hero, I’m certainly a qualified overlord. This is the art of indirect intimidation.
"If I fought you with everything I have, what chance do you think you’d have, you lowly insect!" the shadowy figure yelled.
In its eyes, Ye Fan was nothing more than that. Without the light from the Divine Talisman, he would be a mere plaything for it to crush at will.
Ye Fan was momentarily startled, fearing the desperate creature would make a final, crazed stand. If that happened, it would be all over for him. However, he knew that if he showed any weakness now, he would lose all his momentum. So, he shouted back, "If you really dared to fight to the death, why would you wait until now?"
He immediately strode forward, his demeanor aggressive and pressing.
The shadow was terrified. Illuminated by the light, it had become extremely weak. Finally, it was the first to capitulate. "What do you want? As long as I have it, I will give it to you!"
"Hmph! So you finally have some sense," Ye Fan retorted. "I don’t want anything else. I want the Vast Divine Steel!"
My plan is to get my hands on the Vast Divine Steel and then kill this old creature. Although the Vast Divine Steel is merely a legend even in the Divine Domain, this monster must know about it since it came from the mineral veins.
"Impossible!" the creature retorted.
Ye Fan took another step forward, the light around him blazing intensely. The creature had no choice but to yield again. "Fine, I’ll give it to you!"
"That’s more like it," Ye Fan said coldly. "It seems you only respond when you’re staring death in the face."
"Swear that if I give you the Vast Divine Steel, you will spare my life!" it said warily, clearly not trusting Ye Fan in the slightest.
Ye Fan replied, "You’re in no position to bargain."
"True," the creature conceded. "But if I decide to destroy the Vast Divine Steel with my dying breath, even if I can’t completely succeed, you will never find it!"
"Fine," Ye Fan said. "I swear in the name of the Jingnan Divine General that once I obtain the Vast Divine Steel, I will spare your life!"
A creature this fearsome, capable of slaying gods, must be eliminated at the first opportunity. I’ll make no excuses.
With that, he employed his usual cunning.
"Fine!" the creature finally agreed. Ye Fan breathed a sigh of relief. Mentally sparring with a monster even more terrifying than an overlord is a high-stakes game. One wrong move means utter defeat.
The creature then activated its movement technique and handed two glowing pieces of Divine Steel to Ye Fan.
Ye Fan confirmed they were indeed the Vast Divine Steel. He had never expected to so easily obtain something that existed only in legends; the feeling was marvelous. He demanded, "Why are there only two pieces?"
The creature nearly died of shock. Vast Divine Steel is an incredibly precious commodity, and he has the audacity to complain about only receiving two pieces? Such a thing is a rare find even in tens of thousands of years! Although it’s useless to me, it’s invaluable for Martial Artists seeking to condense their godheads. It’s practically a Divine Grade treasure! And he complains about only two pieces! How brazen! He should know I only found these two after sneaking into the richest mineral vein in the entire Divine Domain. Otherwise, finding them is a matter of pure, unseekable luck.
So, the creature said, "In the entire Divine Domain, these are the only two in existence. I can swear on the name of my Demon Race!"
"Good," Ye Fan said. "I can barely accept it, though I’m clearly getting the short end of the stick."
Upon hearing this, Mo Ying almost spat blood. I can’t believe how repulsive this mere insect is! He’s disgusting to the core!
Ye Fan took the Vast Divine Steel but made no move to leave.
Mo Ying shouted, "I have fulfilled my promise! Why haven’t you left?"
Ye Fan replied mockingly, "Can I really leave right now? Once you regain your strength, I’m sure you’ll be desperate to seek revenge."
"What do you mean?" Mo Ying asked, instantly on guard. I never expected him to be such a wily character, cunning to the extreme!
