Chapter 2547: Chapter 2547: Heaven Measuring Ruler

The situation within the black fog was exactly the same as before.

Dao Ji had never been here before, so he wasn’t familiar with the situation inside. Everything felt very novel to him.

As he walked forward, he also felt immense pressure. However, this only made him even more delighted. 𝗳𝚛𝗲𝕖𝚠𝚎𝚋𝗻𝗼𝕧𝗲𝐥.𝚌𝚘𝐦

Having such pressure only proved how powerful the legacy of the Heaven Slayer was.

After walking only a short distance, Dao Ji stopped. To gain the Heaven Slayer’s legacy, he needed to devour all this black fog. Once he entered the fog, he could begin at any time. Therefore, he didn’t notice the stone stele behind him or the person on it.

Standing amidst the black fog, Dao Ji used the Secret Technique of Devouring the World to start absorbing the fog.

Continuously, the black fog entered Dao Ji’s body, and the surrounding fog surged towards him.

Dao Ji could feel the power within him growing constantly, which made him exhilarated. This was the power of the Heaven Slayer. Once he fully obtained this power, he would become the strongest in the Three Thousand Great Worlds!

However, he didn’t notice that within the black fog, the stone stele and the person on it were slowly moving towards him.

The person on the stone stele opened their eyes, gave Dao Ji a silent glance, then closed them again, as if they didn’t want to acknowledge him at all.

The stone stele gradually approached Dao Ji, and when he sensed something was amiss, his body was already touching the stele.

Seeing the stone stele, Dao Ji was momentarily stunned. Before he could react, a strong suction from within the stele began pulling him in.

Dao Ji had no time to react, and half of his body was quickly inside the stele. He could clearly feel that the half of his body that entered was merging with the stele. This meant that once fully inside, he would become part of the stele, effectively dead!

Panic surged through Dao Ji. With one foot still outside, he desperately used it to push away, trying to stop himself from being sucked into the stele. But ultimately, his power was no match for the stele, and the absorbing speed did not slow down.

Before long, most of Dao Ji’s body was absorbed into the stele, and he was drenched in sweat. At this critical moment of life and death, he couldn’t spare any effort to absorb the black fog anymore.

Furiously struggling to escape from the stone stele, Dao Ji found his attempts futile. No matter how he fought, he continued to be drawn into the stele.

As he was about to be completely absorbed, Dao Ji suddenly took out a ruler from his clothes. The ruler was engraved with mysterious runes that gave it an inexplicably enigmatic aura.

With its appearance, the person on the stone stele opened their eyes once more, as if pondering something. Ultimately, they did not interfere.

Dao Ji, indifferent to this, struck the stele forcefully with the ruler, hoping to shatter it.

This ruler was a chance acquisition, a Heavenly War God’s Divine Artifact known as the Heaven Measuring Ruler—a formidable tool. Dao Ji had absorbed the remaining spiritual energy from it to advance to the Earth-level Realm, and he was very confident in the Heaven Measuring Ruler, believing it could shatter the stele.

However, when the Heaven Measuring Ruler struck the stele, it didn’t budge an inch. Instead, the ruler emitted a crisp sound, nearly shattering.

Dao Ji was dumbfounded. His most powerful Divine Artifact seemed so fragile before this stele. What was going on?

Nevertheless, the impact of the ruler did slightly slow down Dao Ji’s absorption into the stele.

Looking at his now cracked Heaven Measuring Ruler and then at the stele, Dao Ji felt an immense reluctance. Yet, seeing himself being gradually absorbed into the stele, he gritted his teeth and struck the stele again with the ruler.

This time, the cracks on the Heaven Measuring Ruler increased, but Dao Ji came to a halt.

Dao Ji knew the Heaven Measuring Ruler couldn’t withstand many more blows. However, to stay alive, he had no choice.

He lifted the Heaven Measuring Ruler once more and struck the stele with force, causing parts of his body to tear.

Dao Ji didn’t know whether to feel joy or sorrow. Though he survived the ordeal, much of his body had fused with the stele, leaving him gravely injured. Recovery would not be a simple task.

Moreover, it seemed highly likely that the Heaven Measuring Ruler would be destroyed in the process.

This was his most important Divine Artifact. It would have been acceptable if he could have obtained the Heaven Slayer’s legacy. But failing to get the legacy and suffering such losses, this attempt truly cost him dearly!

However, given the circumstances, he had no other options. He had to desperately strike the stele with the Heaven Measuring Ruler. If he didn’t, he would die here!

Finally, when the Heaven Measuring Ruler was on the verge of shattering, Dao Ji’s body was torn apart completely. With half of his body remaining, he managed to break free from the stele.

Yet, the Heaven Measuring Ruler was now covered in fine cracks, as if it could shatter at any moment.

Dao Ji was devastated. Was his most important Divine Artifact truly finished?

Before he could contemplate the situation, the stele began moving again, approaching him.

Dao Ji shivered in terror. If the stele caught him again, he had no other Divine Artifact to fight back with.

Without time to dwell on it, Dao Ji, with his remaining arm and leg, frantically crawled away.

Here, with no spiritual energy to replenish him, he couldn’t even restore his body, only linger in weak struggle.

Unfortunately, he crawled slower than the stele moved. As it closed in, Dao Ji was nearly in despair. Biting his teeth, he hurled the cracked Heaven Measuring Ruler at the stele.

The stele was halted for a moment, granting Dao Ji a chance to catch his breath. He crawled desperately, escaping the black fog’s domain.

Within the fog, the stele seemed eager to pursue him further, but the individual on it lightly stepped down, halting its advance.

Simultaneously, the broken Heaven Measuring Ruler floated into the person’s hand. They gently stroked it before closing their eyes again, leaving the world in the black fog appearing unchanged, as if nothing had happened.

Dao Ji knew none of this. Crawling out of the palace’s boundary, his intent was to confront Su Yang because he suspected Su Yang knew about the stele’s power.

However, upon emerging, Su Yang was nowhere to be found.

Dao Ji, infuriated, glanced towards the Demon Abyss’s exit and roared, "You dare deceive me, boy!"
