Survival of the Nation: I Can Specify the Items That Will Drop
Chapter 62: Gathering and Blueprint (Part 4)
The afterglow of the setting sun dyed the western sky a magnificent dark red, casting long shadows from the newly erected wooden walls and buildings of Beacon Fire Village.
Inside the camp, the residents, having finished their day's work, were returning to their dwellings one after another as wisps of cooking smoke rose into the air.
Just at this evening hour, from the direction of the Stone Forest to the west, came the rhythmic and powerful sound of hooves and wheels rolling over the ground, breaking the tranquility of dusk.
The sentry on the watchtower immediately sounded an alert.
Soon, a team of about thirty people appeared on the horizon, rapidly approaching Beacon Fire Village.
The team was strictly disciplined. In the front were ten cavalrymen riding Nightmare World Pack Beasts that resembled horses but were larger and covered in simple leather armor.
They were dressed in standard leather armor, with long blades at their waists and heavy crossbows on their backs, their sharp eyes scanning the surroundings.
In the middle was a large cart pulled by sturdy Pack Beasts, covered with heavy oilcloth, its wide wheels indicating it was carrying a heavy load.
On the sides and rear of the team were twenty Infantry guards, holding spears and shields, marching in unison.
Near the front of the team, sitting on a Pack Beast, was ✪ Nоvеlіgһt ✪ (Official version) a familiar figure—Su Yurou.
She had changed out of her loungewear into a set of light green cloth armor convenient for movement, covered by a windproof cloak. Her long hair was tied up, and she carried a weapon that looked like a short staff on her back. Her face bore the fatigue of a long journey, but her eyes were clear and firm.
At the front of the team was a middle-aged officer with a resolute face, dark skin, and wearing standard Great Xia studded leather armor. He wore a long sword at his waist and had a sharp, military bearing.
The arrival of this team immediately drew attention within Beacon Fire Village.
Zhao Hu and the others quickly came to the west gate, and Lin Feng also heard the news and walked out of the Council Hall.
The team stopped outside the moat. The middle-aged officer nimbly dismounted, stepped forward a few paces, and cupped his hands in a salute to Lin Feng, who had walked out across the drawbridge, his voice resonant:
"Third Transport Team of Zhenyue City, Captain Zhou Meng, acting on the orders of Director Chen Weiguo, has delivered the first batch of support supplies for Lord Lin Feng of Beacon Fire Village, and escorted the personnel here! Please inspect them, Lord!"
His movements were crisp and clean, carrying the characteristic decisiveness of a soldier. His address and etiquette toward Lin Feng were meticulous, clearly the result of strict instructions.
Lin Feng cupped his hands in return: "Captain Zhou, you have had a hard journey. I am Lin Feng. I appreciate the support from Zhenyue City and Director Chen."
His gaze swept across the team and vehicles, finally landing on Su Yurou, to whom he gave a slight nod.
Su Yurou also dismounted and walked over, saying softly to Lin Feng: "Lord Lin, I am here."
Her tone was calm, but there was a hint of relief in her eyes at having reached her destination.
"Welcome." Lin Feng responded simply, then looked at Zhou Meng: "Captain Zhou and brothers, you have come from afar; why not enter the village for a rest and have a meal before leaving?"
Zhou Meng shook his head and refused, his attitude firm: "Thank you for your kindness, Lord Lin! I am on official military business and dare not delay. Besides, the journey is not entirely peaceful; we must depart immediately and travel day and night to report back. Please forgive us, Lord!"
He was clearly a pure soldier, prioritizing the completion of his mission above all else, not wanting to create unnecessary complications.
Lin Feng did not insist, nodding: "In that case, I will not keep you, Captain Zhou. Please be careful on your way." 𝑓𝘳𝑒𝑒𝓌𝘦𝘣𝘯ℴ𝑣𝘦𝑙.𝘤𝑜𝑚
"Thank you for your understanding, Lord!" Zhou Meng cupped his hands again, then immediately began directing his men to hand over the supplies.
In that large cart, there was a specially made wooden box containing Gray energy crystals, a full two thousand of them, heavy and emitting a stable energy fluctuation.
Additionally, another person walked out from the back of the team.
This was a middle-aged man who looked to be in his forties, slightly chubby, with a ruddy complexion and rough but clean hands. He wore plain cloth clothes and had a look of slight nervousness and curiosity on his face. He was that "Junior Chef" Li Gui.
"Lord, your humble servant Li Gui is skilled in cooking and making some dry rations." Li Gui stepped forward and saluted somewhat awkwardly.
Lin Feng glanced at him and nodded: "Master Li, you have had a hard journey. We will make arrangements shortly."
The supplies were checked and verified, and Zhou Meng took out a list for Lin Feng to sign.
After completing the handover, Zhou Meng did not dally and immediately organized his team.
"Lord Lin, Miss Su, the supplies and personnel have been safely delivered. Our mission is complete, so we will take our leave!"
Zhou Meng mounted his beast and cupped his hands again toward Lin Feng and Su Yurou.
"Take care, Captain Zhou. Please thank Director Chen and everyone in Zhenyue City for me!" said Lin Feng.
"I will certainly convey that! Farewell!" With a wave of Zhou Meng's hand, the thirty-person transport team turned around, guarding the empty carts, and left the view of Beacon Fire Village as quickly and orderly as they had arrived, disappearing into the thickening twilight as the sound of hooves faded into the distance.
The efficiency was impressive.
Lin Feng watched them go, gaining a more intuitive understanding of the state's execution capabilities.
He turned and instructed A Wang, who was waiting nearby: "A Wang, take some men and move the energy crystals and supplies into the core area warehouse. Register them carefully upon storage."
"Yes! Lord!" A Wang immediately called for his men to start working.
With two thousand Gray Crystals, the energy reserves were suddenly much more abundant, sufficient to support the 【Great Qin Elite Camp】 in training more soldiers, as well as the territory's energy consumption for the foreseeable future.
Next, Lin Feng looked at Su Yurou. With a slight shift of his thoughts, he used his Lord authority to directly grant her the title of 【Honorary Resident】.
A faint connection was established between the two, and Su Yurou clearly felt that her perception of this land had become clearer; some areas that were originally blurred (such as the core area) became accessible.
"Su Yurou, welcome to Beacon Fire Village."
Lin Feng said, then introduced her to Zhao Hu, Tie Dun, Shadow Snake, Arrow Eye, and the others who had walked over.
"This is Su Yurou, my classmate, a first promotion 'Healer'. From now on, she is one of our own."
Su Yurou bowed slightly to everyone: "Hello everyone, please take care of me in the future. I will do my best to help everyone."
Zhao Hu and the others had long known she would come, and now that they were formally meeting, they all greeted her.
Zhao Hu said heartily: "It's great that Miss Su is here! We are just lacking someone who can heal! In the future, if we get injured, we'll be counting on you!"
Tie Dun scratched his head and smiled foolishly, Arrow Eye nodded in greeting, while Shadow Snake just gave Su Yurou a faint look, her gaze lingering for a moment on the short staff.
"Classmate Su, you have had a tiring journey, go and rest first. Your room is already prepared in the Honorary Resident area. I will have Shadow Snake take you there later," Lin Feng arranged.
"Okay, thank you." Su Yurou was indeed feeling tired and did not refuse.
Shadow Snake nodded silently, signaling for Su Yurou to follow.
Lin Feng looked at the other core members: "Everyone has worked hard today, so go back and rest early. Tomorrow morning, everyone gather at the Council Hall; we will discuss the arrangements and battle plans for the next ten days in detail."
"Yes, Lord!" Everyone responded and dispersed, each attending to their duties; those moving supplies moved supplies, and those returning to their dwellings returned to their dwellings.
