Chapter 254: The War Outside [3] [Prelude to Total Mayhem]

What had transpired was seen and felt from certain distances as the spacecraft hovering in the atmosphere just above the Orion Continent transformed into flames.

Its debris and the Obelisk Space Station itself were in shambles as though it was chiseled from mere paper. Such a sight could be mistaken for a meteor shower as every part of it entered the atmosphere, burning to its destruction, ready to hit anything, anyone at random.

As the war continued to rage on some parts of the Orion Continent, causing this peculiar, unknown incident to happen without being noticed by some others, the man himself, Artorious Hall, was glancing at the crack of the Black Veil. His ashen eyes darted around, seeing the ragged body of one of his previous companions as the beginning of this hell.

"What did you do?" Artorious Hall queried, his voice cold.

"Ha– You know, since the aim of humanity is to advance... W–why don’t we take it to another step, right? To the unknown..." The leader of the Black Sky Disorder muttered, his voice filling the air before he lost consciousness.

At that moment, several figures materialized just behind the considered #1 Player of the Orion Continent. It was such an unexpected presence.

Artorious Hall shifted his gaze, finding four distinct individuals – Russell Moon, his sister, Amelie Rose... and someone he did not recognize.

Such timing was impeccable that Artorious Hall could not help but ask, "What are you doing here?" His gaze fixated on the enigmatic man, who seemed to know more things than the usual Player, especially in regards to the matters concerning his wife’s whereabouts, who, according to Russell Moon, was still alive somewhere else.

Artorious Hall was not certain. But that’s perhaps the only reason or consolation he trusted this young man veiled in mysteries, who Russell Moon had yet to know himself, too.

Instead of answering Artorious Hall’s query. Russell Moon addressed his maid, "Can you do something about it?"

Based on the usual knowledge that he had when it came to his unpublished novel, the Black Veil was inevitable. However, Lunaria’s existence herself was unprecedented atop any other mysterious circumstances.

"Yes, Master. I can only buy you a certain amount of time. But the other side was probably notified of the changes, too. So it just means that they’re getting ready anytime soon for destruction."

Upon hearing the incomprehensible words of Lunaria, Artorious Hall belated realized the familiarity seen on her as he cast an inquisitive gaze to Russell Moon, the Obelisk Academy student who asked him to "neglect" one crime that he would undoubtedly commit.

Russell Moon nodded to Lunaria; the latter then proceeded to approach the seemingly negligible crack of this black curtain. After that, he sauntered towards Artorious Hall, who understood the crime he had committed as the one who infiltrated the Obelisk Organization’s secret facility.

"Freeing the Dungeon Boss from her lair. I haven’t even thought of such a possibility."

Artorious Hall acknowledged these peculiar circumstances as his ashen eyes darted around, witnessing the mountain of Vampires whose lives were used as sacrifices for making a crack in the Black Veil.

"He’s dead, huh?"

Russell Moon muttered, seeing the collapsed body of the leader of the Black Sky Disorder. He recalled that his death was perhaps the same as what was written in his unpublished novel.

It was then that their attention was focused on Lunaria’s power. Her eyes turned completely grey; her body emanated an ashen Mana as her pale hands extended towards the miniature crack of the glass-like Veil.

"Master, I’m done! What’s next?" Lunaria casually said, her gaze fixated on her Master.

Hearing her, he responded, "Good job, Lunaria. About the next step..."

He paused for a moment, recalling Han Jiho.

’He’s probably be fine with them.’

A moment or two later, his eyes looked for the #1 Player of the Orion Continent.

"Mr. Artorious Hall, the only way to solve the impending conflict... is by continuing the project development that was stopped several years ago."

Somewhat curious, as he recalled the malicious Mana from the other side, Artorious Hall queried, "What conflict are you referring to?"

Unhesitantly, he responded, "A war against the other side."

Russell Moon’s blue eyes then gazed above, seeing the debris of something. Everyone’s gaze followed as they witnessed the destruction of the Obelisk Space Station.

Falling into silence as he contemplated, Artorious Hall’s countenance turned gravely serious.

"What project do you mean, young man?"

Without shifting his gaze, Russell Moon answered:

"Project Obelisk — Nuclear Arsenal Development."

It was an insane project with the original aim of destroying a Tower.

On the other side of the Black Veil, where a different climate and existences, as well as identities and groups, reside.

A woman of unknown age stood on a high platform; her skin was grey like steel; her eyes were grey like mercury; and her hair was grey like silver strands.

A moment later, the atmosphere was filled with her cold, seemingly autonomous voice, "Nice strike!" She then stuffed in her Dimensional Inventory a giant gun.

After some time, as she savored the fall of a strange object in the skies, another person like her spoke from behind:

"Autonaya, the Detector seems to have malfunctioned. The crack of the curtain seems to have been blocked by something."

"Eh? Is that so? When can we invade those puny races then? Sigh. I thought the sparks of war were upon us!" The one called Autonaya responded.

"Don’t worry, Autonaya! I am an Artificial intelligence, you know! Based on my calculations, it will be opened again after 30 days, maybe even earlier if we forcefully open the crack."

This figure was a miniature one, hovering on her back like a fly.

"I see, I see! I want to go boom, boom! You know!?

"Anyway, let’s start the preparation! Assemble the Android Army!"

"At your command, Captain Autonaya!"
