When they heard Wu Yue wanted to give them taro, they knew a single one wouldn’t be enough to fill their stomachs. But it would be the first time they were permitted—acknowledged, even—to own something that was truly theirs.

But that hope flickered to life for only a moment before being snuffed out by the words of the males.

Wu Yue glanced at the male who had just spoken. She said nothing, but her gaze was so intense that the male instinctively fell silent and stepped aside.

Looking at these familiar yet unfamiliar faces, Wu Yue smiled softly. "I won’t let you down."

In truth, she was very confident. ’The Clan Leader and the witch promised that if the taro can really be preserved for a long time, they’ll give me an entire cellar’s worth. Judging by the size of the cellar they dug today, it will be a massive amount—more than enough to share with all these slaves.’

And so, with everyone’s spirits running high, the Snow Tiger Tribe’s first rush harvest began.

It was only when they began digging up the taro that the Pure Human males truly understood. These slaves usually looked completely listless, as if they were at death’s door. Yet, when food was handed out, they always ran faster than anyone. Now, seeing them work, the males realized just how ferocious they could be.

Everyone’s gazes involuntarily turned to Wu Yue, who was busy digging up taro with all her might. ’Who would have thought,’ they all mused, ’that such a small, slender female could be so formidable.’

They worked from the evening of one day until dusk the next. Looking at the last patch of taro, an exhausted and dizzy Wu Yue felt like she could see the light at the end of the tunnel.

"Come on, everyone! We’re almost finished!"

By now, a light drizzle had begun to fall from the sky, and the temperature was starting to drop.

In the fading twilight, the nearby tree branches were hazy and indistinct.

Once the last two baskets of taro were unearthed, the Pure Human Warriors quickly carried one of them into their own homes.
