Surviving in the Beast World with a System
Chapter 288: The Flying Eagle Witch’s Request
The next morning, after seeing off the grim-faced witches from the Lion Tribe and the Black Wolf Tribe, the Snow Tiger Witch looked to the Flying Eagle Witch, who remained unhurriedly at his side. "Why haven’t you left yet?"
The Flying Eagle Witch said, "I have something to talk to you about."
A dark glint flashed in the Snow Tiger Witch’s eyes. "What couldn’t you say in front of them?"
The expression on the Flying Eagle Witch’s somewhat gaunt face was unreadable. "Let’s talk inside the cave."
With that said, he headed straight into the cave.
Behind him, the Snow Tiger Witch and the Snow Tiger Tribe Leader exchanged a glance and followed.
Bringing up the rear, the Flying Eagle Tribe Leader watched the three figures ahead and let out a deep sigh. ’I wonder if the witch is making the right choice.’
The Snow Tiger Witch’s cave was silent, the atmosphere inexplicably heavy.
The Snow Tiger Witch looked at the Flying Eagle Witch across from him. "Old Eagle, if you have something to say, just say it. Do you need the Snow Tiger Tribe’s help with something?"
After a long moment of silence, the Flying Eagle Witch nodded. "There is indeed a matter that requires your help, Tiger."
As he spoke, he glanced at the Flying Eagle Tribe Leader behind him. "Go bring the eggs."
The Flying Eagle Tribe Leader opened his mouth as if to say something, but ultimately left the cave in silence.
The Snow Tiger Witch’s expression grew solemn when he heard the word "eggs." "Eggs? Could it be... your eagle eggs...?"
He didn’t finish his sentence, but the Flying Eagle Witch opposite him had already nodded with a bitter smile. "All the newly laid eagle eggs in our tribe have developed a problem."
He raised his palm, and a wisp of blackish-green witch power gradually materialized in its center. "Starting last year, the newly laid eggs in our tribe began, one after another, to turn into dead eggs.
At first, a few were still able to survive, but this year, we haven’t had a single new hatchling.
I, too, thought our eggs had been cursed with witchcraft, but I’ve inspected all of them and found nothing at all."
He looked up. "Those two, Lion and Wolf, they’re too full of schemes. I don’t trust them. That’s why I brought ten eagle eggs today. I want you to examine them for me."
The Snow Tiger Witch and the Snow Tiger Tribe Leader were now shocked beyond words.
The eagle eggs of the Flying Eagle Tribe were failing to hatch. This meant that if the problem wasn’t solved, the Flying Eagle Tribe would face extinction in the Polar Forest in the near future.
The news was simply horrifying.
The Snow Tiger Witch could no longer sit still. He couldn’t help but think of his own tribe as he turned to the Flying Eagle Witch. "Was everything alright the year before last?"
The Flying Eagle Witch fell silent for a moment before speaking. "There were deaths in the years before that, more than usual, yes. But every year, there are some eggs that fail to hatch, so I didn’t pay it much mind. It wasn’t until last year that I realized something was wrong, but for the life of me, I couldn’t find the cause."
The Snow Tiger Witch frowned, sat down, and fell into silence.
A moment later, a series of footsteps broke the silence in the cave. The voice of a Snow Tiger Tribe Half beastman Warrior called from outside, "Witch, the Beastman Warriors from the Flying Eagle Tribe are here."
The Snow Tiger Witch’s voice returned to its usual cool detachment. "Let them in."
Ten Beastman Warriors from the Flying Eagle Tribe walked in, each cradling a massive, pale bluish-white egg.
The Flying Eagle Witch nodded to them. "All of you, go and wait outside."
Nine of the Beastman Warriors respectfully turned and withdrew.
The Snow Tiger Witch then rose and approached one of the eagle eggs. A dense, azure witch power materialized on his palm, slowly enveloping the massive egg.
