Surviving in the Beast World with a System
Chapter 299: Lice
This time, not only Wu Yue, but also Yuan Lang and Teng Qian, who had retreated a short distance away, heard an earsplitting shriek.
The two insects seemed to sense their lives were in danger and tried to absorb Life Power.
But Wu Yue and Yuan Lang were inside the protective shield, and Teng Qian, the only one they could currently feed on, had retreated far beyond their reach.
After struggling for a while, the two Poisonous Insects finally stopped moving, just as Wu Yue had hoped.
And with their death, their ugly bodies were finally revealed.
Staring at the stiff insect corpses on the ground, Yuan Lang walked over. "So these are those invisible insects?"
Wu Yue nodded. "It seems we can only see them after they die." 𝓯𝙧𝓮𝓮𝒘𝓮𝙗𝙣𝒐𝒗𝒆𝓵.𝓬𝓸𝒎
Yuan Lang picked up a leaf. After using a stick to transfer the two insects onto it, he turned and waved to Teng Qian in the distance.
Seeing the General summon him back, Teng Qian instantly sighed in relief.
"Leader, what in the world happened to you and Wu Yue just now? I heard some strange sounds, like a snake’s hiss, but much louder."
Yuan Lang held the leaf with the Poisonous Insect corpses up to his face and said deadpan, "It was these things. They just came off of you."
Then, he gave him a look of disgust and said, "Tell me, how long has it been since you bathed? For your lice to grow this big?"
Teng Qian, who had been merely confused a moment ago, was now utterly horrified. He stretched out a trembling finger, his hand shaking as if he had Parkinson’s, and stared at his leader in disbelief.
Then, as if deciding his leader couldn’t be trusted, he turned his now pale face to Wu Yue. "This... this thing really fell off me?"
Seeing his devastated expression, Wu Yue gave a mischievous nod. "Yep. When you walked over just now, they even tried to attack us, but Yuan Lang killed them."
Teng Qian’s neck went rigid as he turned to look at the two ferocious, fanged insects in Yuan Lang’s hand...
Letting out a yell, he bolted toward the river...
Wu Yue: "..."
Yuan Lang: "..."
They looked at each other and both snickered.
But when they looked down at the Poisonous Insects on the leaf, their laughter died abruptly.
"Let’s go. We need to take these corpses to the cave and show them to the witches. It seems the Poisonous Insects have escaped."
Yuan Lang’s gaze darkened as he looked at the insects in his hand. ’Such tactics...’
’No matter where you go, there are always people who will stop at nothing to achieve their goals.’
When the two brought the Poisonous Insect corpses into the cave, the Snow Tiger Witch and the Flying Eagle Witch stared at the bodies. For a moment they were stunned, then their expressions filled with utter disgust.
"How did you kill these Poisonous Insects?" the Flying Eagle Witch asked, looking at them.
They had already tested three stone pots of different potions, but none had worked at all.
Wu Yue turned, brought over the stone pot filled with chili water, and placed it in front of the two witches. "I think this is the potion that worked."
She held out her slightly reddened hands as she explained, "I got some on my hands while I was crushing these ingredients earlier, and my palms became very uncomfortable. I was just about to go soak them in the river.
"But then I ran into Teng Qian, and it turned out he had these Poisonous Insects on him. They tried to attack us, but as soon as they touched my hand, they fell to the ground, struggled for a bit, and died."
The two witches’ eyes lit up with a frightening intensity. Seeing their reaction, a nearby Half-beastman Warrior stepped forward, lifted the pot of potion into his arms, dipped some dry grass into the liquid, and sprinkled it over the three eagle eggs.
