Surviving in the Beast World with a System
Chapter 393 - 349: The Troublesome Tribe Asking for Help
They immediately abandoned the idea of eavesdropping and led their fellow tribe members away, carrying the Iron Claw Worms they had captured earlier toward the cave entrance.
’If we can’t listen, we won’t. We’ll just go eat some delicious Iron Claw Worm meat.’
The Black Wolf Tribe Leader gave a bitter smile. "This year’s flood submerged our Black Wolf Tribe’s settlement. Because this has never happened before, all the food we had stored was washed away, and many of our tribe members were injured.
Now, the prey in the forest have all gone into hiding, so hunting is difficult. That is why I have come to ask for help."
The Snow Tiger Witch’s expression grew grim. "And what about that old fellow from the Black Wolf Tribe?"
The Black Wolf Tribe Leader gave another bitter smile. "Our witch is back at the tribe, keeping everyone calm. Besides, his health isn’t good enough to be out in weather like this."
The Snow Tiger Witch nodded upon hearing this. ’That’s true. Even though a witch’s status is high and they have witch power for protection, you can’t ignore the fact that they are still Pure Humans.’
A Pure Human’s regenerative abilities and physical strength can’t even compare to a Beastman’s.
The Snow Tiger Witch nodded. "Come in."
With that, he turned and walked into the cave.
The Black Wolf Tribe Leader and the few Beastmen from the Flying Eagle Tribe hurried to follow.
Wu Yue was also called into the Witch’s cave by the Clan Leader.
Traveling in this weather was incredibly difficult. Even a Gold Rank Beastman Warrior as powerful as the Black Wolf Tribe Leader couldn’t help but show a trace of exhaustion on his face.
"Right now, what we lack most are herbs and food. The Flying Eagle Tribe has already sent us some, but the long rainy season is far from over...
Without shelter or food, it will be very difficult for our people to survive this rainy season. So, I implore the Snow Tiger Tribe to help us."
The Witch looked at the Black Wolf Tribe Leader. "How do you want us to help your tribe?"
The Black Wolf Tribe Leader’s lips moved a few times before he finally spoke. "We hope the Snow Tiger Tribe can take in some of our Black Wolf Tribe members to live here."
The Black Wolf Tribe’s settlement was flooded, making it impossible to dig new caves. By living in another tribe’s caves, they could also share some of its food. At the very least, it would ensure more of their people survived until the end of the long rainy season.
After he finished speaking, the Black Wolf Tribe Leader fixed his pleading gaze on the Witch, anxiously awaiting his answer.
The Snow Tiger Witch was silent for a moment. Just as the Black Wolf Tribe Leader’s heart began to sink, thinking he was about to be refused, the Snow Tiger Witch sighed softly, picked up a nearby stone bowl, and took a sip of water. "In that case, you can send some of your people over."
The Black Wolf Tribe Leader was ecstatic. He lost his composure and leaped up from the ground. Seemingly realizing his behavior was inappropriate, a brilliant, wide-mouthed grin spread across his face. "Thank you! Thank you for the Snow Tiger Tribe’s help."
The Snow Tiger Witch waved a hand and turned to the few Flying Eagle Beastmen. "How is the Poisonous Insect situation in your tribe being handled?"
Hearing the Snow Tiger Witch bring this up, the Flying Eagle Beastman Warriors couldn’t help but smile happily. "Thank you for your concern. Young hatchlings have already successfully emerged in the tribe."
A smile appeared on the Snow Tiger Witch’s face as well. He continued, "So, will you still be the ones to bring the Black Wolf tribespeople over?"
The Flying Eagle Beastman Warriors nodded. "Most of the Polar Forest is submerged now. It’s completely impossible to get here on foot.
Our witch has already sent some Beastman Warriors to the Black Wolf Tribe. As soon as you give your approval, we’ll head back and bring their people over."
"I assume your tribe can’t take in any of the Black Wolf tribespeople this time," the Snow Tiger Witch stated bluntly.
The Flying Eagle Beastman Warrior gave a bitter smile. "That’s right. Because we were dealing with the Poisonous Insect problem, we didn’t prepare enough extra food. We simply don’t have the means."
The Snow Tiger Witch sighed. "In that case, it seems the only ones who can help the Black Wolf Tribe are our Snow Tiger Tribe and the Lion Tribe."
As soon as he said this, the Black Wolf Tribe Leader and the Flying Eagle Beastman Warriors all developed strange expressions.
The Witch naturally noticed this, and a vague sense of foreboding rose in his heart. "What happened?"
The Black Wolf Tribe Leader gave a dry laugh. "Right now, the only tribe that has agreed to help us is the Snow Tiger Tribe. It’s impossible to get to the Lion Tribe’s territory at the moment."
The faces of the Snow Tiger Witch and the other Snow Tiger tribesmen in the cave instantly went pale. ’So when you said "some" of your people, you were actually planning to bring everyone over?’
The Snow Tiger Witch’s face darkened as he looked at the Black Wolf Tribe Leader. "What’s wrong with those stinky lions? They should be fine, shouldn’t they? Why can’t they help you?"
The Black Wolf Tribe Leader gave a bitter smile. "The Lion Tribe is currently surrounded by floodwaters. Most importantly, the Flying Eagle tribesmen have discovered many giant iron clawed insects around their territory. Judging by their size, they’re probably even more dangerous than any we’ve encountered before.
So even if the Lion Tribe was willing to take our people, there’s no way for us to get there."
Hearing their description, the Beastmen of the Snow Tiger Tribe suddenly felt incredibly fortunate.
The Snow Tiger Witch’s lip twitched as he looked at him. "Fine, bring your tribespeople over. But let me be clear: all of you, whether Beastman or Pure Human, will have to live on the open floor of the caves.
I can have my people share some Beast Skins for you to use."
It was an unwritten rule that Beastmen received better treatment, but that was limited to the Beastman Warriors of one’s own tribe. It would be unreasonable for refugee Beastman Warriors to come seeking shelter and expect to take over the caves of the host tribe’s members.
The Black Wolf Tribe Leader nodded. "Rest assured, I will make sure to tell my people."
