"What is that?"

She looked down in confusion but saw nothing. Puzzled, she lifted her foot and saw some unknown yellow substance stuck to the sole.

Yellow?

Could these be the unknown yellow particles Yuan Lang had just mentioned?

And by the looks of it, she had already crushed them. A yellow liquid mixed with some of the cave’s dirt was stuck to her Beast Skin boots, and she couldn’t scrape it off no matter how many times she tried.

’Probably just some eggs laid by a small insect.’

Although she hadn’t seen any insects in the cave, Wu Yue was still very cautious. She took a torch and scorched every nook and cranny of the cave, inside and out, before she finally felt at ease.

"Host, are you going to check on your fields today?" the System asked.

At the mention of the taro plot, Wu Yue couldn’t help but feel a little anxious. It had been some time since she’d planted them, but the small sprouts still didn’t seem to have changed at all.

The members of the tribe had been hopeful at first, but they had gradually stopped paying attention. After all, they still had to scramble to find food for their own families.

She slung her little green satchel over her shoulder, picked up Blue Fatty, and placed him inside. "A high-tech little backpack like this... naturally, the first one to try it out should be my dearest System. How about you get in and test it out?"

Looking utterly hopeless, the System allowed the Dog Host to place it inside the bright green backpack, leaving only its round, chubby head poking out.

"Host, in your heart, do you really think this color suits me?"

Wu Yue chuckled. "Let’s not talk about whether it suits you or not. We have to look past the surface to see the essence. I’ve covered this backpack with Beast Skin now, doesn’t that make it much classier?

The most important thing is that it’s useful!"

The System scoffed. ’Yeah, right. Like I’d believe you...’

When the duo arrived at the fields, the slaves were still diligently tending to the taro seedlings, which showed little sign of change, and clearing out the weeds.

For some reason, while the taro seedlings had barely grown, the weeds were flourishing.

Staring at the spindly seedlings, Wu Yue sighed worriedly. ’Don’t tell me this is going to crash and burn.’

"Lady Wu Yue, you’re here!"

Chang Ye, who was working in the field, saw Wu Yue approach. He quickly tossed the handful of weeds he was holding into a basket on his back and walked over.

Hearing his voice, Wu Yue looked up and offered a smile. "How have things been these past few days? Do you still have food to eat?"

Moved by Wu Yue’s concern, Chang Ye felt a surge of excitement and nodded repeatedly. "Yes, yes, we have enough! Thanks to the new types of food you discovered, we still have some of our previous stores left. It will definitely be enough to last until the taro is harvested."

Seeing the trust and expectation in his eyes, Wu Yue’s heart grew heavier. The taro seedlings weren’t dead, but they looked so listless that she had no confidence they would be able to harvest enough taro...

She could only offer a couple of dry laughs before pretending to inspect the taro field and then scurrying away.

She went over to another taro patch that the slaves had already cleared. Poking a seedling that had barely grown, she sighed, "Come on, you. Why won’t you grow? I gave you so much... Huh?"

Wu Yue shot to her feet. "System, don’t you have to fertilize things when you plant them?"

The System lifted its large head. "Generally, yes."

"For fertilizer, would animal droppings work?"

The System thought for a moment before replying, "I think you have to collect some droppings, mix them with wood ash, and then let it ferment for a while. It takes time, so it’s probably too late for you to do it now, Host."

Wu Yue gave the Blue Fatty in her backpack a suspicious look. "How do you know all this in such detail?" 𝑓𝓇𝘦ℯ𝘸𝘦𝑏𝓃𝑜𝘷ℯ𝑙.𝑐𝑜𝓂

The System’s chubby face stiffened. Then, it defiantly puffed out its chest and said, "As a smart, clever, and omnipotent System, a little tidbit of knowledge like this is naturally no challenge for me."

Wu Yue chuckled drily and pulled it out of the backpack. "Did you use your spending points to watch some kind of trashy show again?"

The System’s little face flushed red, looking as guilty as if it had been caught red-handed. But it immediately replied with righteous indignation, "It’s not a trashy show! *Village Flower and Her Men* is an inspirational epic about female empowerment!"

Wu Yue scoffed, "Yeah, right."

But the thought of her half-dead taro plants instantly drained her of the energy to argue with the System. "So what do we do? Is my farming venture really going to be nipped in the bud like this?"

The System gave her a complicated look before saying, "Actually, there’s some ready-made fertilizer we can use in the tribe."
