Surviving the Apocalypse While Being Tempted by an Elf and a Dark Elf
Chapter 283: Horde (6)
Thanks to the flying fortress, the movement speed of Luke’s group increased tenfold. They also didn’t have to stop to rest or to eat. Not to mention, they could easily find hordes of monsters on the ground, so Luke just had to fly low for a short while and give the orders for his followers to jump and fight. Even without doing anything, he was obtaining experience and gold coins. Now he could understand why Frank was so full of himself, but instead of getting carried away, Luke used his time to train while he looked at other dark elves. He also learned Fire Manipulation and Wind Manipulation to create more spells. That cost him one million gold coins, but who cares? Those skills would level up like crazy while he tried to learn new spells, so it was like trading gold coins for status points. Something he would gladly do.
"There is a medium-sized settlement ahead, master. It should have at least five hundred dark elves there," Nambra said.
Luke’s head began to hurt... Danielle finally stopped with the master thing, and now this weirdo took her role in a lot more difficult way since her intentions were clear. That voice only mentioned the words: those two. So, it was fine if he laid his hands on Nambra and while he wouldn’t have gladly done that if he were the same person that he was one year ago, things were so simple now. Regardless, he shook his head to change his mood and focus on the task ahead.
"Do you remember that place, Shalia?" Luke asked.
"Nope," Shalia replied.
"Since that is the case, I think things will go as usual," Luke said and then began to slow down to land the flying fortress.
That is what Luke thought. However, he didn’t notice the dark elves doing anything when they approached after jumping from the fortress. While looking from up close, Luke noticed that the settlement was a lot different from the others that had been made by magic and could be abandoned without any thought. That place had houses made of wood, and its inhabitants looked a bit troubled while they were approaching. It was more like a village than a settlement. It was rare to see such a things in that world.
When they got close enough, an old dark elf stepped forward, trying to look imposing, but it was clear that he was nervous. He became a bit less tense when he saw Shalia and Sylah. Luke wished that he didn’t put much faith in those two being reasonable. Sylah was stupid, and Shalia was vicious, after all.
"Who are you? State your business here," The old dark elf said.

The old man was pretty strong... he even had all the basic forms of elemental manipulation. Still, his other skills and spells were at a high level as well, but their variety wasn’t that great.
"My name is Luke, and I am a human," Luke replied. "I am here because a friend asked me to reclaim this world from the hands of monsters and overlords. She helped me with my world, and while things aren’t settled there, I have come to help. Anyway."
Luke wondered if he should have told that much, but he was out of touch when it came to diplomacy since no one tried to talk these days. They only wanted to fight, experience and loot. Besides, the old man looked like someone wise, and while Shalia said that only the most crazy dudes didn’t agree with the plan of finding help, in other words, it doesn’t mean that they can’t change their minds after a while.
"You have come to help this world, and you will use all means necessary, like enslaving our people?" Seirion asked.
"I wouldn’t say by all means necessary, and while I am not a paragon of morality, there are still some things that I can’t do," Luke said. "As for the people that are with me, they aren’t slaves. While I wasn’t gentle when I convinced them to join my side, they also tried to kill me, so I would say that I have been quite merciful."
The old man stopped to think for a while. If anything, Luke looked fairly reasonable since the people around him looked fine. If he were like the other overlords, he would enslave or sacrifice anyone who he had deemed weaker than him. Still, he was hesitant. Thanks to that, Shalia’s patience ended.
"Make up your mind already, old man," Shalia said. "We don’t have all day. Join us of your own volition or after getting your ass kicked. Luke is willing to let you join our side without making any oath, but if any of you try something funny, the whole group will suffer, and I will make sure of that. After that, you will be sacrificed and become fuel to the red crystal."
Shalia wasn’t wrong, but Luke wished that she had chosen better words. Now he looked even more vicious than her. Despite that, the dark elves on the other side didn’t look angry. If any other group would have heard that, they would have jumped to attack all of them with their bear attacks.
"Before giving my answer, can I make a request?" Seirion asked.
"You can, but it doesn’t mean that I will have to do whatever you want, even more so if it smells fishy."
